  • Done in April 2017 with blood, sweat and tears! It took about a week to lay the pennies (approx 50hrs and 2 people, so 100hrs total)
This is the first floor main bathroom in our Victorian home and is approx 9m2.
After collecting pennies from friends and family and getting some from the bank over a couple of months, we started by securing the old floor boards, then laid a 10mm ply over before levelling in a few areas.
We then secured a plank in the middle of the room as a point to work out from, using No More Nails, we started laying the pennies, copying the template we had already worked out on the board.
We cleaned the excess glue from the pennies using craft knives, then grouted with a black flexible tile grout.
After that came the epoxy resin, Glass Cast by Easy Composites Ltd. (more expensive than the pennies themselves!, but looks amazing)
We then had the bathroom suite fitted and added the extra touches.

Needless to say, this took just a tiny bit of patience🤣. I wonder how they did the color patterns, or the darker, lighter shades. Is that just a matter of what side the penny is turned to?🤔

I wonder how much time was spent just gluing down the pennies. I think the darker ones are tarnished.
