This is such an inspiring video. Jason has taken a 450 sq. ft. old apartment and made into an oasis. As you look at the space, it feels like it is much bigger than what it is. He has used every inch of space to his advantage -- showcasing all his lovely art and all of his other prized possessions. He also made great use of the vertical space in his closet. His daughter's room is lovely; all her toys are near her. He looks like he is probably a great dad. By observing his gentle manner, I am sure that he is. He seems very patient and attentive. He may have not renovated the bathroom or kitchen, but you would never know by seeing what he created in both those rooms. Kudos to Jason! I hope that we can witness more videos as he does his renovations.
My favorite thing about it is that many times when people live in small spaces, the space ends up looking like an ad for The Container Store! This is a nice study on how to use full sized art and furniture to make a small space feel cozy. Yet he still manages to pack it with great space savers!
I absolutely love the non-renovated spaces, like the kitchen & the bathroom. I think they make the apartment seem more authentic. I love everything about this home. His style is perfection. Great job!!
@@deirdremcdonnell9848 The bathroom door is opening out to the living room which is not good. It needs to be changed so that it opens into the bathroom - avery minor change but will make a huge difference aesthetic-wise.
The high ceilings are awesome for making things feel less cramped. It really is luxe and relaxing, and what a great education in art that daughter is getting!
Oh snap - didn't realize this video was posted so recently! I got emotional when he talked about how much he loves just hanging with his daughter at the coffee table playing together. Love his story of moving around a lot and not really having a space to call home growing up, so this place being extra special and deep for him. I really enjoyed this tour and am inspired by how these designers and professionals make their places their own and encourage us to do the same while sharing some of their tips like blending colors, intentional contrast, textures, etc.
I absolutely love “ un-renovated” it is so charming and I love the originality of it all because it just gives the space that je ne sais quoi that it needs. It’s such an oasis. It truly feels like home.
This might be my favourite Apartment Therapy video ever! I love that Jason didn't wait until everything was perfect and then do the video, it would have been so easy to hold off until the kitchen and bathroom were done. Instead, it felt so personal and you could really see how his life was reflected in his design choices. Definitely got a lot of tips for my own place too!
Refreshing. Unpretentious, honest, warm man with a beautiful design style for his own home. understanding what home means to you particularly when you’ve had childhood instability is so important…this means not buying into what anyone else tells you your home should look like or be. security, comfort, stability, a place to gather and spend time with the people you love, where you can be yourself and be your creative self while feeing supported is actually a harder life to build than it sounds. I love this apartment and this man’s humility. 👌🏽🥳🌸
LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about his apartment! Everything is so beautifully curated, and there's an almost hyptotizing visual flow throughout the entire space. And how he has made space for his daughter and her things! 💕 This is instantly one of my favorite AT tours of all time. 🙌
I loved how he called his place a mansion. Personally I needed motivation, to get my place better organized. This was so inspiring to see. Taking notes. ❤
That's really the bare minimum to expect from a parent. Meanwhile, he didn't secure the mirror to the wall so it could easily fall on her head, and there's a lot of inappropriate sex-related art everywhere. Not so sweet.
@@lsamoaThere are no unanchored mirrors. As for the artwork, the paintings and scultures are classical in style, no different from what you'd find in a museum. There is nothing inappropriate or shameful about the human form or sexuality. His daughter will grow up with a healthy attitude toward such things and an eye for beauty. Perfect.
@@SheilaR.08 Do seriously you not see the mirror moving when he leans against it at 06:23 or are you just trolling?? That mirror is NOT properly anchored to the wall. If it were it wouldn't move one bit. And no, exposing children to explicit sexual content is NOT appropriate, it's downright creepy and concerning. It's incredible that this even needs to be said. What is wrong with you??
@lsamoa Do you honestly see no difference between classical sculptures or paintings of the nude figure, and "explicitly sexual" imagery? Like, the nude figure paintings he has are replicas of art that hangs in the damn Louvre.
In these precarious times, Jason has fashioned a warm creative space for himself, and his daughter. His design talents, plus his loveand appreciation for what he has, makes it a home.

Gorgeous and totally functional!! The combo of marble pieces, great books and peel and stick...this man knows how to live in NYC! Please don't get rid of that vintage built in clothes hamper in the bathroom. Grew up in a house with one, and now that I don't have it anymore, I realize what a great, tidy space saver it was.
He is so cool and seems like a really great person. His sense of style is on point. Love both the bathroom and kitchen, no need to rush into renovating. I renovated mine immediately after closing and regret it immensely as I didn't give my self a chance to get a feel of my pre-war apartment. Now I can't wait to be able to do it again in a way that feels good and authentic.
Elegance and functionality! I saved this video because Jason has managed to elevate his apartment while showing us normal people that it's doable in our home with a humble budget.

This has got to be my favorite apt on Apartment Therapy. I love how he sectioned the space. It's timeless, uncluttered , and welcoming. Don't you dare do anything to that bathroom!
That metal hamper that is attached to the bathroom wall is from the 1960s. I have it in my co-op in Williamsburg. Do not get rid of it. It takes up so little space and is so handy. Once gone, you can never find one to replace it.
This is definitely motivating. I recently moved to a large city and I’m living in a 350 sq. ft studio and I honestly feel overwhelmed trying to figure out what I can do with it. While yours is a bit bigger, it’s still a small amount of space to do much with so this was pretty inspiring. Looks like I have some work to do.
Love the decor! Warm, welcoming, and many places of interest. I know you want it open, but I think I’d put a ceiling hung curtain around the rectangle that’s the daughter’s space-same length of the wall it’s up against. Something mottled and reflective, mirroring the gold, bronze, taupe colours found in the room. Or a built in closet/study/hang out area in that spot with a bed loft above once she is old enough. The bed can remain and you can gain some storage place or an office when she goes off to college.
Beautiful. There is so much to look at and touch (things look really textural), yet it doesn’t feel cluttered or overwhelming. It’s beautiful, full of character and personality, and also practical and homely. Love it.

Your apartment is beautiful, well done, furniture, artwork, etc. How about a shelf with something that belongs to your daughter or a more playful mage to hang over her bed - she’s kind of squashed by all your things. I’m sure you could find something more childlike that’s still as sophisticated as everything else you own!
Interesting. Often these small spaces are, well, still obviously super small no matter how it’s decorated or organized. This actually feels like a large, dynamic and multifunctional home. Love it!
