Holy moly what a PB! Congrats! Also I can relate to the a/c in the car, mine stops working over like 25C, or works then dies after 15 minutes. Had it looked at twice. Hopefully the third time is the charm. It's 34C here today, luckily I don't have to go anywhere
It’s like driving inside a microwave isn’t it?! I think it’s just having an old and relatively basic car.. I’ll get an upgrade one day or just buy an ice vest maybe 😂 Don’t envy you in 34C temps!

Totally with you Phily, I tend to eat Tuna Pasta Salads but Waitrose around here don't do them, M&S do.... tick But Morrisons / Asda / Sainsburys not too keen - I hate being pre race day food fussy - and hotels never serve food early enough for racers
As if it's not hard enough having to combine a full time job with intense training plans, and of course taking part in races and events ... most athletes have to take care of all other practical expenses themselves, too! It's great having let's say a brand or a store sponsoring you for running shoes and gear. But I hardly ever see athletes driving around in a sponsored vehicle. Who cares the dealership puts his stickers and logos on it. Your transportation costs are cut in half or more, if they throw in a fueling budget/card!! And the airconditioning will probably work 😛
Argggh . No junk food when training. Eat grilled meat, fish, vegetables and seasonal fresh fruits. Also drink at least a pint of fresh water everyday for hydration.
Hi Phily, realy enjoying your channel down in Australia. Question have you looked into eating fats like unrefined coconut oil instead of carbs before a race? Can't recommend enough. Gives you the calories you need but super easy to digest and unlike carbs your body remains light pre race. Anyway keep up the great work, very inspirational.

Tip: Drinking water when eating spicy food makes it worse - it spreads it around your mouth. Milk/ yogurt is better - counteracts the heat. 🌶
Tbf milk is my usual mouth cooler go-to.. but I really didn’t want to consume high amounts of dairy before the race… 💩

For the 3k it’s 11 minutes max, 5:30 for the 1500, don’t think there is a cut off for the 800!
