Thank you so much for this I LOVE the old hymnals and how they take me back to my life as a new Christian and remind me we are all new in Christ no matter how old we are!
There is actually 5 verses in the original hymn. Strange this one leaves out a different verse than another congregational version I've found on TH-cam . Looking for one that includes all 5 verses!
I've seen the missing verse as well. I believe you're talking about the one with the lyrics: "Stumbling on the mountains dark with sin and shame, Stumbling toward the pit of hell’s consuming flame. By the powers (power) of sin deluded and oppressed, Hear the tender Shepherd, “Come to Me and rest.”" Normally when a verse is omitted like this I would guess it is because they thought the verse was unscriptural but I personally don't see anything unscriptural about it. This verse is saying that if anyone is sinning and it is making them stray away from God and risk hell that they can always repent and come back to Jesus for rest and He can help them overcome their sin. It reminds me of the story of the prodigal son. My guess is that maybe some people might take that verse to mean that you can "come to Jesus as you are" even if you are sinning and be "given rest". Jesus will accept any sinners back but they need to be willing to repent to become a Christian otherwise they are just continuing to stumble toward "hell's consuming flame" if they continue to sin. So my guess is the verse is ommitted because the publishers might think many people might get the wrong message from the verse. Just my two cents.
That may be because it is copyrighted. The notice I get from TH-cam on some of the recordings I do is that there is a copyright, but the owner allows it to be used on TH-cam. You should be able to put it into a playlist on TH-cam, though.
Thank you so much for this

I’ve never heard this that I recall and I’ve heard LOTS of hymns in my 69 years!
I've not heard it, either. It was requested, and I had to search for it.
Thank yiu
Thank you so much for doing this song. Also, if you need help searching for lyrics or sheet music I can do that as well.
