i think it’s a home setting to really get the idea across that everyone in the show was like family, related or not. personally i love dan and serenas wedding and her dress was also better than blairs
It's probably something serena wanted. She never liked being fully centre of attention so she probably wanted something simple with only people she loves, gotta love her for that!

The *only good thing* about the series finale: Chuck/Blair/Henry endgame family. The *worst* thing: Dan and Serena married. First of all, their parents Rufus and Lily had a love story spanning decades that was betrayed for Derena. Second, both Nate Archibald AND Carter Baizen were perfect endgame husbands for Serena. Putting her with Dan? GOSSIP GIRL HIMSELF? The guy who had zero respect for her as a person? GTFO. I will never be okay with this.

Since the concept of Serena and Nate was born from deception and lies, it kind of makes sense that the writers didn’t have them end up together. I am sad that Nate ended up alone though. What would have been nice is if he came in the wedding and “bumped” into Jenny and maybe implied something could rekindle there.
