It is great every time I see a Shadow fly. I have one (Streak Shadow) that I'm restoring here in the USA and can't wait to get it up in the air. I'm still looking for the holy grail (engine) with same foot print as 582 but more HP
I have a 912 in a Streak Shadow the performance is very similar to the 582 climb etc, cruise is slightly faster but the big thing is the economy and noise reduction.
@@MALPAS29 what's the endurance (range) with the 912? Just wondering because you loose the slip tank with 912. I have been considering a Simonini Victor-2 engine.
@@djal1030 Hi Den, I still have the slipper tank (had to lose the main tank) so that is 30lts in the Slipper tank. In the back cockpit I have two tanks side by side that feed into the slipper giving another 56 lts so a grand total of 86lts (22 US gallons) with a typical burn rate of 13lts per hour that is about 6.5hours endurance.
1st time looking at your videos and i thought the detail and narration were excellent. If i may ask about your shadow. Is it a ssdr or a group A and on your return leg over the water did you speak with london or Cardiff re "coasting out". I only ask as i wish to fly a similiar track across from devon to cardiff. Thanks Peter
Yes your right they a Trig radio and transponder, on a small custom made mount, the larger box of tricks relating to each device is mounted on the back of the pilots seat. As you can see, space is limited in the cockpit.
@@MALPAS29 My dad has had to move his shadow away from old Sarum. Blackbushe is a possibility so installing a transponder is a next step being so close to places like farnborough. Are the boxes big enough to render the back seat useless?
@@neemahwright3193 Oh No, they are quite small long boxes, often fitted behind the instrument panels in light aircraft. I don`t use the rear cockpit except for fuel tanks, but you could definitely position so the rear cockpit would still be usable for a passenger.
Do you know if any one have install a Simonin Victor 2 engine on a Shadow? Im considering the victor 2 super. They claim 110 hp and less fuel burn. Same foot print as 582.
Love your videos, very professional. I can't wait to get mine flying again. Is project now.
A nice no-nonsense account of what looks like a very pleasant trip, sir! 🙂
Thanks so much, do enjoy these!
Appreciate your comments 👍
Great video stu!
well done Stu another nice flight and video
I quite often see aircraft from Old Farm when i am exercising on the dunes down from the Angel. I usually think lucky buggers :)
Tip top dude

@@MALPAS29 that was the thinking behind my asking as i've never been a fan of buzzy two strokes

Are those the little trig radio/transponder units you’ve installed ? Is that a custom mount too? Very cool 👍🏻

Not heard of anyone with such an engine. Could be worth asking on the Shadow Owners Facebook page.
@@MALPAS29 I'll check but don't have Facebook account.
I don't know why but the CFM Shadow has always appealed to me even though I've never flown one.
Hi Ian, for me it's the feeling of wearing the aircraft rather than sitting inside one
😃
@@MALPAS29 That's got to be good. I think any aircraft that feels like that is a giod one
