    Great vid, is it cheaper to use a grader over the long run than a plow truck, or are some of the drifts just too big for a truck to handle?

    • @graderman140m
      @graderman140m  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We get extremely heavy wind blown hard drifts so we stick to graders with one ways or v plows to keep our roads open

    Hey I just started running grader a week ago, plowing snow for a county in MN. I will also be doing summer maintenance on gravels. With no experience in a grader, I watched a ton of your videos and jumped in it for the first time with some confidence. Im running the 772gp also and really enjoying it. Questions for plowing gravels. I put my moldboard into float and then roll it back so there is maybe an inch or so of clearance to keep the gravel on the road. Is this kinda what you do or is there a better way?

    • @graderman140m
      @graderman140m  ปีที่แล้ว

      For snow plowing I leave my moldboard about 2 inches above the road only place I scrape down to gravel is on hills and intersections I generally try to use my moldboard as little as possible use my one way plow or v plow to take majority of snow off the road because using moldboard can cause you to start bouncing and that’s the last thing you want.

    When the snow starts melting what would you and the grader be doing in that time of season?

    • @graderman140m
      @graderman140m  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I generally wait a week for all the snow to melt and let the frost come out before I start normal maintenance blading in the spring thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

    Do you get to cut ice of the roads there? That's the bigger part of my winter work here in eastern Canada

    • @graderman140m
      @graderman140m  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very rarely do I have to cut ice but sometimes I will have to go out and cut ice once we get snow I prefer it get packed down then we leave it till it starts warming up then go cut it off last 2 winters have been open haven’t put wings on and have bladed gravel majority of the winter

  • @wbball15
    @wbball15 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you keep your one way plow at ground level or use skids to keep an inch or so above surface?

    • @graderman140m
      @graderman140m  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have it on skid shoes and keep it an inch up off the gravel really works good definitely speeds up plowing

    • @cecilnesbitt8197
      @cecilnesbitt8197 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here in Atlantic Canada we use shoes on our one ways but keep them up 1/2 an inch of the ground

    Do you have two forms of steering?

    • @graderman140m
      @graderman140m  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I can use the steering wheel or I can use the lever steer on my sliding moldboard control to steer with I generally use the steering wheel majority of the time.

      Love the video's greater man just got a brand new 672GP. I am from Wisconsin. Pulled shoulders and 2 weeks ago fixed a bunch of pot holes. Then it started snowing again. And rain and wind heavy on the wind. Frost for the most part is out now. Waiting for it to quit raining So I can do some grading.

    How do you plow snow that fast and don't throw all your rock in the ditch?

    • @graderman140m
      @graderman140m  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Years of experience if you have you skids set right on your plow and have your moldboard set right you won’t lose much gravel at all in my opinion if your plowing gravel roads and going under 15 mph is to slow.

    • @garthmay6124
      @garthmay6124 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Graderman 140M Hey , thanks for the videos . I'm from up here Saskatchewan and lots of Gravel to deal with . Problem we have is the Machine , GP 870 , starts bouncing on us . We have tried faster which can get very interesting in a hurray or slowing down and that just makes a big job bigger . We have worked with tire pressures and Blade angles still no better . Tires are the Michelin Snoplus . What do u run for tire pressures? Thanks for any info u can provide or other suggestions .
