Just another reason why visiting Victoria is very very low on our list of places to visit....

The windscreen yes in any state.
But if your from a different state they cant defect for tint or some of the other silly little things they pick like rim size, to high, to low, coz each state has different regulations, they dont get people to strip their tint off at the border for a 2 week holiday in another state then get it re done when they get home or have to xhange suspension coz youre just passing through.
Plus the defect doesnt carry over to another state, you have to be defected in that state

    • @suelandolt6840
      @suelandolt6840 ปีที่แล้ว

Good to know! Yeah we chatted about that asbthe car didn't even need a roadworthy with the purchase/sale in SA. Will have to get more across the different states and requirements. Thanksnfor the info and hopenyou jave a great week.

Get rid of the states and have uniform national laws. Just look at how each state played politics with covid.

I would've taken vehicle to licensing before repairs and asked them to test the tint% and see what they say about it before stripping it off but it sucks to be pinged on the eve of getting repairs well done in getting it done in a timely manner

100% that would have been a good idea! 👍 yeah its difficult on the road! Fortunately we had friends we could stay with while we arranged repairs as it took 2.5 weeks! Have a Merry Christmas 🎅

79's seem to be windscreen rock magnets, mates done 2 in his as well. as for the tint, my 200 series has lighter tint on the front 2 windows than the rest. never had an issue in 5.5 years i have owned it, as far as i am aware its factory. I also have a long range tank added, 265 litres of diesel when full, its soul crushing when you pull up in katherine and pay 3.25 per litre and youre almost empty.

@@suelandolt6840 Yep, they see those interstate plates...
As for window tinting, same rules across Oz. Plenty of "reputable" tinters going overboard & the poor bugger driving the "defective" vehicle cops the problems. As per ADR & all state reg's, if you've got side mirrors, the back half is OK. It's the front door windows to watch for. As some vehicles have a slight factory tint, adding to the problem. If your glass is marked with "TINTED" or "AS3 or "V", it pays to check before tinting.
Have a good trip & safe travels.

The joys of interstate travel back in the 1980s I was driving a Victorian registered car and towing a small box trailer to Western Australia in Victoria the box trailer didn't need to be licensed only a copy of the tow car license plate had to be on it about 300 km into WA I was stopped and told I needed a permit to tow the trailer. I offered to sort it out in Perth but was made to do a trip back to the boarder a 600 km round trip

Oh wow. So embarrassing as a Victorian!
Haven’t seen tinted windows cause too many crashes in my time, and surely a caution re your windscreen would have been enough. Some of our HWP leave a LOT to be desired. Usually they’re not interested unless you’re speeding.
Hope it didn’t mess with your plans too much and glad to see you back on the road!

    • @mj_aussie_coaster_travels8310

Windows that are tinted too dark are often a target for the cops. They’re fine for 90% of driving, but when they’re too dark and it’s a dark rainy night it can really affect your side vision.
Might seem trivial until you get taken out at an intersection by someone who simply didn’t see you in the dark.

@@tim18118 usually I’d say yes. But look at this case in isolation. It’s an rbt, the cops are there literally looking for shit wrong, that’s their job at that place and time. Who knows if it had only been one instead of three defects whether or not they would have gotten away with it.
All three things are legitimate defects. They may not be the most serious of defects but defects they are.
Ask yourself this, if it was a p plater in a ve commodore that got done for a busted windscreen, illegal tint and too much wheel poke would you have the same attitude? Or would it be “well, he kinda deserved that “….

    • @tim18118

@@mj_aussie_coaster_travels8310 you have to take each case by case, if the VE was obviously someone’s pride and joy, or advertisement on wheels for their business / TH-cam channel, then no.

On the positive it did give you the time to do the necessary critical servicing and inspection of your awesome landcruiser ( a pinch of prevention is worth a pound of damage). In up coming vlogs could you give us a solid review on your new tyres ( I and many other people would be so grateful) too many tyres brands out there all with so many biased ( tyre company endorsed reviews), it truely is a nightmare. Hi guys, I know what you are talking about with Melbourne's weather, was over there 2 weeks ago, could be the same time.
Went over to pickup my new car and visit family and friends from WA. Had some very cold weather, then hot weather, then decided to drive home via the Great Ocean Road, beautiful warm sunny weather on Sunday, then Monday leaving day, freezing cold, raining and blowing a gale, that's Melbourne.
Also can't believe they defected your car for window tint, bloody ridiculous. But listen to this, the roadworthy for my new was out of date by one day, VicRoads said you have 30 days to charge it into your name if going interstate. So had permission from owner, so off I went, but when I went to get WA roadworthy in Geraldton, he informed me that the car is now unregistered and uninsured, even though it still had 3 months Vic rego to go, because I said i brought the car it is automatically cancelled, but there is no record of that.
So had to hand in the plates, get a 48 hours driving permit then get a roadworthy, then change it to my name, crazy stuff, drove for 2 days, 2 thousand K's unregistered and unsured.
