Fantastic actor. I haven't played in about 38yrs. Seen Brassed off many many times and wished I hadn't gave up. Well now I'm back to playing with a brass band and played at Hillsborough Castle!
A wonderful tribute to one of the best actors ever.... Seen "Brassed Off" a thousand times, I can't imagine how people must have felt when they lost their job, and, even more sad, the will to live.... I will always remember Pete, RIP!!
What a Wonderful Tribute To A Great Gentleman And To All Those That Starred In Brassed Off The Film RIP PETE YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED WITH AFFECTION AMAZING ACTOR WHO WAS A VERY DOWN TO EARTH MAN GOD BLESS XX
This man was such a wonderful, versatile actor. From "you'll never kill me, Sharpie" which made you hate him, to Brassed Off when you liked him. True sign of a great actor.
Never seen this before! I have watched 'Brassed Off' countless times, and it is still one of my all time favourite films. What a fantastic and well thought out tribute to ''Pete Postletwhaite' a wonderful actor and to who he portrayed. But let us not forget the supporting cast who made the film the Icon that it is. However most importantly, let us not forget the the villages and community's and their populace, such as 'Grimethorpe' and many, many others that were so massively effected by the closures. These communities contain the unsung heroes that deserve the most recognition and praise for what they managed to do and to carry on with in the face of overwhelming odds. These places still exist to this day! Well done to you all!
The movie Brassed Off when I first watched it in the 1970s inspired me to someday be a part of a British Brass Band. It only took 45 years but I am playing bass trombone in a British Brass Band here in Texas. It is everything I imagined it to be. Pete was an amazing actor. I always hated it when he played a villain as I knew that wasn't his nature. This is an amazing tribute to him. Thank you for sharing.
The true measure of an actor's greatness is the ability to play a role that goes against his personality, and to make it a tour de force. R.I.P. Peter Postelthwaite
Fighting a cause for people’s livelihood and the journey through to the end. Best film, great actors- faces we have seen on other films and telly, peeps we know ! It’s got everything in it,laughter, emotion tears and guts…plus the Brass Band Music ..🎵.
BRILLIANT ACTOR BRILLIANT FILM, has to be M favorite film of ALL Time and my goodness there have been some good films but this one captured the people of the time and one mans desire to keep his people his mine his town on the map great spirit just a bloody awesome film
When ah were a lad, every Saturday afternoon on the BBC light programme there was a programme called 'Listen to The Band' which featured many Brass bands going through their paces. The one thing for certain, you can't beat a good brass (or silver) band for musicianship and depth of feeling in their performances.
Pete was denied an Oscar AND a knighthood both of which I think was despicable. But in my world he will always be 'SIR Peter Postlethwaite'! Miss ya mate.
The great director Spielberg said, and I agree with him, that Pete was the best actor in the word, and from one great to another, I wholeheartedly agree, he was. We lost another great actor.
I lived through the pit strikes of 84 and as hard on our community as it was, it was in much better times than the sh*thole country we live in now. God bless you Pete!
A wonderful human being and outstanding actor. Bless you Pete

A gentleman. Respect, honesty.

One of our most underrated actors. He deserved more than one win!

Just beautiful, a lovely man
Great man, great town, great country and a very nice movie that still gets me in tears, and not because Tenor horns are too soft.
Thanks for the "off camera" view of him, seemed like a great man. And that tribute to him, from 06:43. Just heartbreaking.

A great character actor. He made an impression, in every role he played.
He looked truly touched receiving his award.

You're right, but it's probably because they work harder and at all costs.
Thank you thank you thank you this has made me so proud to be a yorkshireman what a wonderful tribute
The sight and sound of the Grimethorpe band playing Danny Boy on the passing of Pete speaks volumes about the people of Grimethorpe.
Very special, very emotional. Even to a soft southerner.
Brilliant man

What a lovely person Pete was who had a genuine feeling for the people of Grimthorpe, their hardships and love of the band as did Peter Tompkins.
I like this man.
brilliant actor nice guy

Rest in Peace Pete, you were a total legend. Even if your conducting was entertaining 😂
HaHa. I see he was still conducting here with the downbeat as an upstroke, just like in the movie.
Watch it over and over and over and eventually acquired a euphonium... Now a student player... 😅
I miss all the characters you played Pete. But yeah, the tenor horn was a tad soft.
Obadiah hakeswill
Sergeant Hakeswill!
How I loathed that character
