1:05 New Hotel - To start the day, we moved to St. James Hotel (details in the eBook: migrationology...., which is located right in the Phrom Phong area of Bangkok. The hotel was pretty good, very spacious and just a short 5 minute walk from Phrom Phong BTS station and a number of famous Bangkok shopping malls.
2:17 Kuay Teow Rung Rueng (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวร้านรุ่งเรือง) - One of the most famous restaurants in the Phrom Phong area of Bangkok, just off Sukhumvit road, is Kuay Teow Rung Rueng (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวร้านรุ่งเรือง), and they mainly serve Thai tom yum noodles. I started off with a bowl of kuay teow tom yum sen lek nam pisayt (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวต้มยำเส้นเล็กน้ำพิเศษ), tom yum noodles and the bigger size. Another thing you have to order when you go to this restaurant is crispy fish skin.
6:41 The EM District - After lunch we took a little walk around Emporium and EmQuartier shopping malls which are right off Phrom Phong BTS station. They are some of the most well known luxury shopping malls in Bangkok.
8:28 Ceresia Coffee Roasters - While at the mall, I bumped into my friend Will, and we had a quick cup of delicious coffee at Ceresia Coffee Roasters.
10:25 Saeng Chai Pochana (ร้านแสงชัยโภชนา) - When it comes to Thai Chinese seafood and stir fried dishes and restaurant along Sukhumvit Road, Saeng Chai Pochana (ร้านแสงชัยโภชนา) is one of the best restaurants. They have an extensive menu of just about everything you can imagine and just about everything is delicious. My favorite dish of the evening was pla gao tod gratiem prik Thai (ปลาเก๋าทอดกระเทียม), a deep fried, and crazily crispy, brown marbled grouper with a mound of garlic and black pepper on top.
16:12 Talad Rot Fai Ratchada (ตลาดรถไฟ รัชดา) - After a delicious dinner, we then headed to Talad Rot Fai Ratchada (ตลาดรถไฟ รัชดา), also known in English as the Train Market, and we went to the Ratchada location. It’s only open on the weekends, and it’s a very busy market, especially popular for local youth in Bangkok as a hangout spot. Food there is alright, but not amazing.
Thank you for watching Day 10 of this Bangkok travel guide video series!

Wow, Bangkok changed a lot. I was there in 1992/1993. I lived for 4.5 months in the Amari Airport Hotel. I worked at Don Muang Military Airbase. I love to come back to Bangkok. I miss all the excelent food. Great video again, Mark. Thanks again.

Mark and Ying, Oh yea for the lime juice, gives it another depth of flavor. Noodles and fish skin looked awesome. That fried grouper was just insane. Would love to eat one. The market reminded me of the Brooklyn NY market. Very hipster. Enjoyed :)

    Hi Mark,
I am absolutely loving this series in Bangkok. I married my thai lady in 2014,and have been to and around bangkok,Hua Hin,pattya, koh Chang, and,i still find myself loving bangkok, for food.As for the coffee shops,i found it hard to find good quality drip coffee. Please keep showing the drip coffee places, because,i can see we both share a passion for coffee.Last January of this year,we stayed near Silom off of Saladaeng,at the end of yommaret alley, and the lunchtime market food was very good, and a great coffee hut, that had really good iced coffee.Next trip,i will definitely be going to some of the places in your series. Keep up the great work. Bangkok is the most stimulating city i have ever been to,just amazing.

+Islander50 Great to hear from you, thank you for watching, and glad we both love drip coffee. Another place I went to, I think coming up in a couple videos, is Pacamara, amazing coffee shop as well.

Mark Wiens you are a champion. This series of vlogs is no small undertaking and you are doing it in style. Everyone travelling to Bangkok is going to have a better experience if they see these vlogs and for certain I'm going to check out many of your places when I'm in BKK in February and March. Thanks so much for the great information, marvellous food and your engaging personality.

I've watched your videos over and over and so interested in coming to Bangkok. These last 10 day have been awesome. One thing that would be awesome is when you stay or visit or eat at places show where it is located on google maps during the video like a snapshot of where you are in relation to the city. That way we could get a sense of what part of the city you are referring to. I follow where you go on google maps and look around that way but including them as you travel would be cool. Thanks Mark for all your hard work. Keep up the GREAT work.

Hey Mark, I noticed a few parts in the video around 7:09 and 7:41 where there is some sort of distortion on the white buildings when the camera moves. I know you're using the mirrorless Lumix camera now, and not the Canon 70D. I have been debating a mirrorless myself and wanted to get your input on it. Do you think the distortion would have happened on the Canon as well? Any insights on the new mirrorless vs. the standard mirror DSLM would be very helpful, since you have experience with both.

+Cynthia Xiong Hey Cynthia, they do have a pepper flavor, but not nearly as pungent, and they have a crisp texture, kine of like a very crispy pea. They aren't too strong though, so that's how you can eat a full bite-full. They are so good!

    Hi Mark,
I've been anticipating your videos eagerly! Great stuff. We spent our honeymoon in 2000 in Thailand; including several days in Bangkok... I ate from the street stalls - enjoyed it a lot - more so than the restaurants and hotels we ate in..
    Cheers
    ScouseTony
