Even though I was cheering for Teru to win, it was an amazing experience to see the mighty Hakuho go 15-0. He just seemed to be leagues better than every other rikishi, and had a strategy to specifically win each bout. It was an honor to behold. Welcome to Sumo! You should go back and watch some highlights of ALL the modern/recent Yokozuna. Kisenosato, Harumafuji, Kakuryu, Asashoryu, etc. They were all great champions in their own right, but there is only one Hakuho.

Asashoryu should be considered as great as Hakuho considering the small (yet immensely powerful body, the greatly adverse circumstances he had to fight against, the unfair treatment he got his entire career, him being the true pioneer for Mongolian sumotori, his shifting from a thrust suki guy to a belt fighter overnight in order to become great. He is not even that big compared to many of his competitors. I would say he is of average size in the top division. Knowledge, skill and and iron will are his greatest assets.
That last bout of Hakuho's is always going to be one of the sweetest things to see, and remember live. It felt like a celebration, it was a gift seeing a retirement so joyful.
