ROYAL INTERNATIONAL AIR TATTOO 2023 (SATURDAY HIGHLIGHTS)

Highlights from the Royal International Air Tattoo's Saturday show 2023. Despite the challenges faced due to the weather this year, the show returned with some excellent flying and support. Rarities from 26 Nations participated in the flying & static displays that represented both the Italian Air Force's centenary and the Skytanker themes very well. Highlights of course (in the flying display) included the German A400M and Tornados, Spanish Harrier, French Rafale, Finnish F/A-18, Belgian F-16 & Many more!
As aforementioned, the weather put the day down slightly with various cancellations and technical faults which led to a reduced flying display - 6 displays canceled which included rare participants like the replica ME262, American B-52, and SAAB Gripen E

The SK60 won the "King Hussein Memorial Sword" for "Best Overall Flying Display".

Not exactly. The King Hussein Memorial Sword rewards the "Most Polished & Precise Flying Display", which went to Swedish Air Force SAAB SK.60 flown by Captain Nils Schylström.
The "Best Overall Flying Demonstration" award is called The As the Crow Flies Trophy, which went to French Air Force Rafale Solo Display, flown by Capitaine Bertrand "Bubu" Butin.

THE KING HUSSEIN MEMORIAL SWORD
Presented in memory of the late HM King Hussein, Patron of the International Air Tattoo (1983-1989) for the Best Overall Flying Demonstration. That is given by the RIAT jury.
THE KING HUSSEIN MEMORIAL SWORD is considered the highest award you can be given at RIAT.
The winner is judged based on "Most Polished & Precise Flying Display".

Remarkable display of manoeuvrability by Dassault's Rafale C ..
The French Air Force Rafale Solo Display, flown by Capitaine Bertrand "Bubu" Butin won both awards :
- The Sir Douglas Bader Trophy (Best Individual Flying Display)
- The As the Crow Flies Trophy (Best Overall Flying Demonstration, judged by FRIAT)

Sad the grpen couldnt fly, they said teh conditions for it wasnt right but i wonder why that was. I guess it COULD fly, but due to some deal its not allowed.
