It depends on how far away you are and how you want to compose the image. For what i was doing 200mm didn't work for what i wanted - but that doesn't mean 200mm is wrong.
I live in Birmingham is there any chance that you come and give courses in here?? I love your teaching, simple, clear, deep, and outstanding information.
Thank you. I'm always interested. Have a look at this video and if you're interested click through to the site for more info Would you like a Mike Browne Photo Workshop Near You?
I have Nikon D90 and I am intersted in 2 things Food and Portrait shooting, I have the regular lense do I need extra lenser for the 2 things I mentioned above? what is the best lense to buy?
Huge question. I can't tell you which is the best lens to buy because It depends on how you want your images to look. I suggest buying lenses to cover a focal range of between 18 to 200 mm so you're covered for all eventualities. Have a look at my Focal length Explained videos Don't zoom - MOVE! Raws are bigger but they have much more data. If you process them yourself it means you are in control of the way your images look instead of leaving it to the camera. I always shoot RAW unless I'm taking 'happy snaps' on holiday.
Every situation is different perfectforehand so we have to find the one that works for where we are... 1/3 sec might be a bit too short to get multiple bursts - but if it's a big display with plenty going on and some available light on foreground so we can see it that could work. - MIKE
No worries. It went quite well, I just need to figure out how to get it a little clearer next time. I think a remote release will help because I have the tripod but the background and even the fireworks sometimes were slightly blurred because of Bulb.
Hi, can you please help me ? I want to buy a DSLR but I don't know which one to buy, I only need a cheap one, but works fine. I can't really decide. I'll be glad if you could help me. Anyway, keep up the good work ! God bless. :)
I did try that, however because I also had it on Bulb I found the "two seconds" lasted much longer than two seconds. I still got some good shots though.
Another great video! Thanks for all the tips, will def give it a go on the 5th Nov at our local park. Lets just hope those two Kangaroo's don't get in the way : )
Buddha bless you for the British accent, music to my ears

Hi - search our channel for it - or go to our Hints and Tips playlist for part 2. - Cheers... Mike
Taking photographs first time tonight. Only thing I'm missing unfortunately is a remote release, but otherwise hopefully will get some good shots.
Cool one Andrew - love to see some of your Firework pics on our Facebook page ...
It would be great to see some of your pictures on our Facebook page
Is it true that raw pictures take so much space from your memory thats why I try to stay away from it. What is your advise to shoot with RAW Mode?

What about shooting continuously in bulb mode locking in a shutter speed of 1/3 sec so as not to miss the action?

Why thank you old chap. Awfully sporting of you.. ;-)
Am I right in thinking that a camera with the live view on is the same as mirror lock up, only it stays up, requiring only one press of the button?
