    Thanks for the informative video. I have a 2007 Revive that i bought new in 2007 for $500. My husband was not impressed and gave me some grief over it. He thought it was a weird design and that I would not use it. I didn't care that much because I knew as soon as I saw it in the bike shop that it was the best idea and when I test rode it in the parking lot I was completely sold on it. The shock absorbers, back rest, upright riding posture, smooth shifting gears and comfy seat were all amazing. My biggest issue with conventional bicycles was my neck and hands/wrists would hurt from leaning forward on the handlebars. The upright position and shorter frame of the Revive, brings the handlebars close to your body and you don't have to bend or lean forward at all. I guess if someone wants to ride at high speeds. then they need the aerodynamics of a low upper torso but I don't need to worry about going fast or racing etc. I just need to ride efficiently and safely. For one year, I rode it off and on to work until I changed jobs to a location that was too far to ride. Now I use it for recreation and I take my two dogs on their leashes for a spin. The upright body position enables me to control the handlebars easily with one hand and maintain the leashes in my other hand. I get lots of smiles and looks from other people. The most common comment I hear is usually....'is that an electric bike?'. I guess the design of it looks somewhat like an electric commuter bicycle. I always say, 'No, it's completely people powered". My husband put a basket on the back and now it's also convenient for trips to the local market or if one of my dogs (20 lbs) gets too tired on our rides, I can put them in the basket. It's really fun for me! I have kept it garaged and in perfect condition. I can't believe that I would not be able to purchase another one easily, so I baby it a little. I hope to have this bike - literally until I'm too old to ride it.

    Hi SwandogStudio. Since getting the Quattrocycle, we haven't used our Revive or Kona Smoke... but I doubt my wife will part with it. The Revive is very cool. Give "Martinsbike" a call in Amish country Lancaster PA. They had a lot and may still have some. It's where we got ours. Larry Black at Mount Airy bikes in Maryland may have one still too. There is nothing uncommon that you couldn't get a part, don't be afraid of that. The chain is fully enclosed, it has a spring suspension, very nice ride.

      Which I could order one I'm in Barbados. Do you think they still have more in stock? Also do you think it can electrified by attaching a motor?

      @@geriannroth449 Giant hasn't made the Revive in a very long time. Only a specialty bicycle store might have one in stock as a novelty.

      @recurvemacman ok thanks so far I've located one by a guy going as the Bicycle man in the USA & another by a guy in the Netherlands he's a specialist in them. Thanks for highlighting this bicycle though I've never heard of it before

    Sorry, J. Tull. I missed your post somehow. It's hard to find these semi-recumbent and fully recumbent bikes for under $500. It would have to be used at that price. New the best you can do is about $1,000. Consider the Terra-Trike "Rover." It sits up relatively high and is available.

    Look at "craig's list". They help you find bikes 2nd hand where you live. There are really only three semi-recumbent bikes to look for when you search. "Giant Revive," "Day 6", and "Rans". But you might be more happy going fully recumbent. Search for "recumbent" on Craig's list and see what turns up. We spent about 5 months searching for "Giant Revive" before we found one for $500.

    Never thought about Craig's List... Many Thanks for the tip(s) and, again, for your time! Continue to Take Care & God Bless!

    I did lots of research on fully-recumbents as well (Sun, Terra and many more), and with my disability (bad knees & back, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, etc.), a semi-recumbent suited my needs much better. I can't be too low down or I have major trouble standing from that position (even getting out of low cars is very difficult), and I also can't see around me well enough from a low position. And ordinary bikes won't work at all; I really need to sitting upright with a wide seat and back support.

    @SwandogStudio 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I checked out Rans semi-recumbents too, and none of their seats looked as comfortable or had the same quality of back support as Day6 and Revive. But I found some others you might be interested in: Sofrider, EZRoll Regal, EZRider Electric Trike, Joy Rider, EasyRider (not the same as EZ Rider), and Keystone bikes. I have pics of all of them that I would happy to send you (and links, but not sure if they all still work). :)

    Where are your other vids on this bike?

    Hi SwandogStudio. I didn't realize you were in Europe. How close are you to southern Holland? Take a day trip to "Piet Plezier" and ride their Quattrocycles. See if they will make you a deal on a two seater model. It sits up high, and is a lot of fun. Don't discount Terra-Trike either. Look at their "Rover" model, it also sits up relatively high. It might suit you well.

    Many Thanks for these vids and for your time! They're very informative! I have stenosis of my lumber spine and physiotherapists tell me cycling can/will be less painful than walking. Semi/Recumbent seating may also be less damaging than upright bikes, for men anyway, to the area known as the "perineum" and "parts" forward of that area. BTW, do you have any insight as to semi/recumbent bikes for those on a "budget," e. g.

    Haha...yeah, the folks I've talked to who have one don't seem to want to part with it. XD And the bike shops that have them don't seem to want to ship them overseas (from the US). I haven't had any luck finding one in a bike shop here in Europe, but I'll keep looking...and if I can't find one, will just get the Day6 Journey, which seems almost as good. :)

    I have one and im looking for another what he doesnt mention is that is a revive Dx which is why it has the internal rear hub, computer and the encased chain system... they are all nice but dx is definitely the ine you want but at this point they are getting harder to find

  • @recurvemacman
    @recurvemacman  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why not consider "fully recumbent" bikes too. Day6 etc. are ok but widen your search to "Terra Trike" and "Sun EZ-1 SX". Look for "recumbent" bike shops close to home and try things out. Don't settle for an ordinary bike. Get something truly comfortable. If you like the idea of hub gears and hub (drum) brakes then get the bikes with them that way from the start. It costs a lot more to add them later because you must have wheels spoked from scratch.

    I'm really interested in the Giant Revive, but I don't know where to get one (either here in Europe, or somewhere that would deliver here), and all the parts on it are so specialized, what do you do if something breaks, since the bike has been discontinued? So I've been looking instead at a Day6 Journey, since those are still being produced, and I found a place that will ship here. Also, they use standard wheels and some other parts. Is it possible to add those Sturmey Archer parts to it?

    Thank you for the information in these videos. How do you adjust the handlebar angle? Would you show this?

      Hi Rich, there is a lever you pull, then you move it, then you put the lever back.

    It is hard to ship overseas. Believe me, I know. I shipped 12 Quattrocycles from Holland to the USA. Shipping one Revive wouldn't be cost effective.

    Hello,
    I was going through your videos on youtube and thought I would enquire if you would be able to supply 3 bicycles to my residence in Chennai,India.
    Thanks,
    Shan

    And if you don't manage to track down a Revive (I've been looking for one myself, and no luck yet), then consider getting a Day6 Dream, Samson or Journey bike; they are almost as good as Revive (especially for those like me who are disabled with back issues and can't sit on a normal bike seat), they are still being produced, and will ship anywhere in the US, and some dealers will even ship abroad: Day6Bicycles (dot) com. :)

    What a Cork. "The best commuter Bike ever made". Why did they stop production after 2yrs. Not recumbent, not semi r. Imagine a normal seat post then it would be a normal city bike. A best commuter would have 26'' or 700c wheels ur be a full recumbent or a velocycle (covered r)
