Demo - Playing with Ink and Collage

  • I’ve just finished a major project using acrylic and mixed media. When I don’t have a specific project I’m working on but I still want to keep creating, I do something I love. Lately I’ve been enjoying ink and collage, so I’m putting the two together here.
In this demo I show you how I play and experiment with shapes, marks and textures. I explore what it is I’m doing and why. Sometimes bits of these collages find their way into my other artwork.
I am on a mission to help artists find their own unique voice and make exciting, original artwork that is truly unique. If this sounds exciting, join my weekly artist's newsletter at www.louiseflet...
Each week, I share tips, tricks, advice, and inspiration to help you take your art to the next level.

Hi. I’m an artist that’s been in the closet for so long because of the horrible things I’ve been through in my life. And I’ve just started to open up and be inspired. And then all of a sudden I’m taking care of my granddaughter that’s two years old. So I’ve turn to TH-cam and I found you. Today, the work you were doing inspired me so much! I asked my daughter recently if I could do some new art for her brand new apartment in downtown Houston. She wants black and white. Lol. Which to me as gray lol so, I am so grateful to you for your inspiration that you gave yourself for us and invited us to see because if I had not seen it I would not have been inspired to do this beautiful thing that came to me while I was watching your video. Peace and love to your family and to you especially.Thank you😊❤️

I hear you. My youngest was six months out of the nest and I found myself with full time custody of my three year old grandson. All that time of waiting to express what I'd been holding back artistically. He's nearly 12, and I'm just starting to see the light lol. TH-cam has been my saviour through the times of not being able to afford to experiment or having the time to do anything physically. I love Louise's channel! All the best for your journey both as a full-time grandparent and an artist. x

The adventure of discovering new stencil ideas is half the fun. I have two new (to me) ideas to share.
The rubber bottoms of most shoes have really unique patterns. Children’s & athletic shoes are the most interesting.
The base of vegetables with stalks ( celery, bok choy, broccoli) make really cool rosette type stencils. They keep several days if refrigerated.
Have fun & thanks, Louise, for every idea you share.

Louise I love your work. I appreciate the ideas you give me to work things out in order to find my own style. I believe this video was from three years ago, and you mentioned a free workshop you were offering June 3rd. It would be helpful if you stated the year it was for. I’m 67 and just getting into art again. Your work inspires me and makes my heart beat faster. Thank you for putting your work and techniques out there to help us.

Dear Louise, this video is fantastic. I also love collages and I always looks for idea to integrate them into my abstract paintings. I think this video will help me.
Thank you so much for sharing. Kind regards Conny

Oh I love this exercise so much! It's got me feeling that spark of inspiration after a dreaded couple weeks of wondering if I'll ever create anything good again. I've been so stuck creatively and its maddening! I can't wait to get on this over the coming weekend to really try to explore what it is that makes my art tick for me. Thank you, Louise! I really appreciate you sharing your process with us. It's very helpful. ❤

I start getting lost in colour but seeing your ink collages helps me to understand more abstracts and more possibilities because I'm not blined by colour. Thank you. I look forward to your free taster course.

This video is so inspiring, and you are so generous to share all you information with us. Thank you so much.
Till now I haven't been experimenting with acrylic ink, but I'll try it out for sure! Looking forward to your 8 days workshop.

Fascinating sharing your creative process but I liked them all through all the stages! Good to see the struggle - thought it was just me. I’m never satisfied. I loved your journals very much
