Thanks for the walkthrough! All of these softwares are evolving faster than it’s almost humanly possible to keep up with.

Thank you for this video. It's so hard to find unbiased opinions regarding AI!

As usual Daniel , thank your for your always interesting content. Always looking forward to it here or via the Adorama content.
What is your take on editing software like ON1 Photo Raw ? They are incorporating AI tools into their products. The past few releases have been focusing on the portraits , people and such (I don’t do it justice ). Not as specific yet as “neck wrinkle remover” but def on the eyes , lips , teeth , skin and such . I imagine they will keep refining and adding more over time . I personally like the option to use or not and the “simple” single tool that puts it all within easy reach . But I’m not a professional editor or artistic person, so wondering if you have seen it and what your take is on the effects ?

This was super informative 👍. Thanks for showing the workflow in detail. This AI software would definitely save me time on my portraits (and possibly studio dance shoots). But I'd much rather have a monthly fee than this x amount of exports deal. Also, I'm a bit sceptical how well batch processing would work for very different shots in a series (like in my dance shoots). Did you try that out perhaps?

As somebody who does a fair amount of headshots, I would only consider using AI tools like this if it could do a better job AND be less expensive than an actual professional retoucher. A good retoucher just isn't that expensive.

How far has AI come along in the last couple of years in photo editing? The growth is huge and it's only ever going to grow. As photographers, steadfastly refusing to adopt new technology and not learning how to fit it into your system is only going to harm you in the long term. I remember when digital broke through and there were analogue togs refusing to try the new tech, adamant that it would never surpass film. How did that work out for them? Be aware, learn, adapt, grow, repeat.

Most of the tools I have seen just don't do as good a job as I can on my own. I don't even use a lot of the tools in Photoshop and Lightroom because I knew they would find a way to nickel and dime us to continue using them.

"These are small JPEGs" Daniel said. Well, in 4K they look as tack sharp as they can be on a 27" 4K display (4K: 3,840 * 2,160 = 8.3 MP).
While Daniel's Nikon Z 6(ii) has 24 MP and that is ~2.9 times more than 4K's 8.3 MP, this compares area units and we need a linear comparison to predict human expectation of change in sharpness. So in area, 2.9 times better means 190% better, right?
Well for linear we need to compare, say, the long side of the frames and with 4K we have 3,840 while the 24 MP has 6,000. The difference now is that - linearly - 6,000 is 1.56 times better than 3,840, or 56%. That's not a lot to the human eye and without going to great length to try to see resolution or sharpness differences, we will not see a difference at all, ever.
