I’m glad you don’t like lip oils… I thought I was crazy for not liking them!!
Welcome to the club 😅
I agree. She made all the right points. It's not worth it. It has to be closer to a gloss texture.
I don’t care for the lip oils that aren’t actual lip OILS They’re just glosses 🙃 I like the Summer Fridays which is an actual oil consistency
Oops I responded before I listened to the whole thing 😂 I can’t stand the lip oils that are glosses. The summer Fridays is hydrating & it’s the tits honestly
Same! Everyone is going on about the lip oils and I’m like, why?
SHES LITERALLY THE BEST AND SO PRETTY AND HONEST ABOUT THE PRODUCTS !
Appreciate you ♥️
I definitely agree with her on the lip oil scenario! Lip gloss is just so much better for hydration rather than a way to creamy almost sticky lip oil. The way that summer Fridays is way to over rated yet works almost worst than any drugstore lip product….! Love the new post!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻
Thank you 🫶
I’d disagree, I find glosses super sticky and oils more hydrating! I think a quick scan of the ingredients is the tell tale. I’m always looking for jojoba oil in an ingredient list and Vit E
@@GLAMGENX that is a good claim! When looking for a lip product I often just see actual honest peoples reviews (like Elle chu) and then buy the product. I’ll look out for those ingredients next time purchasing a lippie! Thanks!
I made myself a spreadsheet of a couple products per category and how much they cost and how many I'd go through in a year. This allowed me to plan and budget and not buy too much frivolous items. You can also add date of purchase and expiry date.
I tried that before, but it’s a bit much to keep up with on my end. I’m happy you found something that works for you though!! 🥰
my jaw dropped when u mentioned the Patrick Ta blush but i totally understand not loving the shade! there are so many and its hard to know what exactly the blush will look like on our face with our individual skin tones
I feel you 😅 Appreciate you listening to my explanation.
Whoa! Thank you for saving me from buying that Laura Mercier foundation! I was intrigued by Dior’s lilac blush but then I had to remember that it’s too cool it would end up looking ashy on same with Patrick Ta
I got you ♥️
also clinique has a lilac blush that’s so much cheaper!
Yesss. I got that one but the name rubbed off 😅 it has a really nice formula that I think is much nicer than Dior @@moofmastermadison
The only lip oil I've tried, trendy or not, is the ELF Glow Reviver Lip Oil. I love this lip oil, but to me it's not really an oil. It has a thicker feel to it, almost like a full on gloss. I agree with Elle that actual lip oils only last like 10 minutes on your lips and don't do that much for your lips as a gloss does.
The elf lip oil is good!
Omg I’m glad I’ve read this! I just bought this lip oil! And apparently it’s a dupe for the Dior Lip Oil
I'm with you Elle. I love peachy tone blushes, but I can't find the perfect pink shade of blush for my darker skin lol. Love today's video (I always get so excited when you upload) and I'm sending only positive energy to you when finding makeup products you actually love lol. Also, could you do a skincare routine video👀!?
There’s actually so many recent purchases I love, just didn’t include them in this video! And omg yes, I still need to post one. ♥️
love these videos, i can’t say keep them coming cause i don’t want to hurt your pockets, but these are soooooo helpful, best, most informative videos
🤣 I appreciate that lol
@@ellerchu we appreciate you 😩🙏
I actually did like the fenty concealer, but im with you on the shade match. I will try another shade eventually, but this one is slightly off.
I’m happy you like the concealer! I’m guessing the shade is meant to be lighter for your undereyes. But it doesn’t work on mine, so it feels like a waste. 🙃
Your videos are so so underrated and useful! Especially love the roasting viral new makeup products series 😊
I’m happy you like them ☺️
I love when you plug actual good stuff during these videos like the one size spray is TEAAAAAAA.
Right?!
Girl try purple blush if you want that cool toned pink effect! It’s stunning! Know nudestix and kulfi beauty make some gorgeous ones
I wasn’t a fan of the kulfi beauty blush or nudestix blush formulas though. 😭
Oh no!! I know half magic makes one too if you’re still interested
Ooh what about the about face purple blush?
I love the “brush microphone” 😊😊😍😍😍
Welcome to the channel 😊
@@ellerchu 😊🥰🥰 thank you!!! 🙏🏼
I recommend you try a purple blush if you want a cool-toned pink look without the ashiness. Color theory with brown/tan skin will make the blush a cool-toned pink.
I still find it difficult to find a good purple blush. But I’m going to try the NYX one soon. ☺️
Thanks you for your honest reviews. They’re really appreciated and will continue to watch you. ❤
Much love ♥️
I agree you girlie with the lip oils I hate them too!!❤
I found my people 😭
@@ellerchuyesss😂❤
heyyy elle i love how you talk crap it's accually so funny to me
Im happy you find it entertaining 😆
i literally JUST found you while scrolling on YT and i subscribed only a couple minutes into this video because you are extremely relatable! I appreciate that you’re discussing a topic that goes unmentioned far too often. Also, it shows the common issues people have with products when their skin isn’t smoothed with a filter or flawless from filler, so thank you! you’re so beautiful btw ❤
Ahh welcome to the channel. Thank you so much for subscribing. 🥰
I've only tried two lip oils (the NYX and the elf ones) and while i like them, i never bought into the idea of lip oils bc oil doesnt hydrate? Humectants do, aka water attracting ingredients. Thats why people complain a lot about lip oils drying out their lips 😕 its just another trend that will come and go
I found an audience that’s gets me 😅👏
This is the comment of the year. Oil equals moisture and water equals hydration. Oil seals in whatever is already in the skin. If the skin (e.g. lips) is dry, a lip oil is going to seal in the dryness.
Love these videos!! Also your makeup is looking STUNNINGGGG❤❤
Thank you 😊
I’ve been taking advantage of travel size products when trying something new. The value is usually terrible but it saves me in the long run. I wish more brands did this.
Yes, I’ve said this in a video before and 100% agree.
Loves these videos. It saves me money ❤ thanks Elle
🫶
tbh i‘ve seen a few of your videos and i am rlly surprised you don’t have more followers. you are amazing and your videos are so high quality 🫶🏻 keep up the good work, you are doing amazing❤️
Awwwh thank you for the support 🥹✨
LOVE THIS VIDEO TYSM FOR BEING HONEST :)
Of course!!
Sososo glad I watched this! I was so close to buying the refy mascara because of how interesting the wand was. I love your videos!❤
Thank you 🥰
YES THE QUEEN HAS POSTED
Hi 👋
I finally got the CT Flawless Filter, and since I've been trying to use it my face is so shiny and my pores are HUGE. Need to figure out the right primer/filter/foundation combo.
Thanks for talking about the PT blush duo. I've been wanting a bright pink blush and eyeing the cool pink but that one is definitely not for me.
I like to spray the flawless filter BEFORE powder, after I apply cream/liquid makeup. I let it dry and pat it out with the sponge. Then I add powder for the blurring effect! I hope this works for you too. ♥️
Would love to see a video about products you’ve used up! ❤
You’re so right about the dew drops. What you can do is just buy the regular one and mix it with the elf bronzing drops if you want the bronze look.
That’s actually a great idea for people who own the dew drops but want a bronze!
@@ellerchuright! Also you get the benefits that the glow has that the elf doesn’t. 🎉
Love how your microphone looks like a make-up brush. Cool vibe 🌈
It is absolutely so valuable to critique beauty products especially these days as the choices are so relentless.
Appreciate your positive feedback ♥️ Thanks for watching!
I had at least three of those items on my Sephora cart and I’m so happy I saw this before buying them. I have pretty much the same makeup expectations as you so I think I would have regretted them. Thank you for doing this video and saving me some money!
Ahhh I’m so happy you saw this video before making the purchase. 😆
Elle can you do a “in my opinion don’t get this , get THIS” kind of video just for fun . Like how you put on that refy mascara that didn’t work but you then show afterwards you applying the butterfly mascara and showing side by side ? Not sure if that’s too much . Let me know your thoughts pretty chica ❤
I love these de influencing videos !
Hi love! I really like that idea. I’ll do my best to make it happen if I can find room. Thank you for the request. 😊
@@ellerchu oh that’s fine boo ! Do what you can, no pressure ! LOVE your content ! 🤗
I haven’t finished this video but I already subscribed
Thank you for subscribing 🥹
I remember when u were at 2k subs, you have come so far!!
🥹♥️
When I see a product I want to try I put it on a wishlist. When I run out of a product I go to my list list and pick something from that category. This way I use what I have. It all fits in my vanity drawer. If it don’t fit in my one drawer I have too much.
Love this for you 👏
Hi jist found your channel. When it comes to more expensive compacts, and I don't like the product, I'll leep the compact for a cheaper blush thats broken i can repackage. Because cheaper blush packaging tends to break at the hinge
Love the idea
Hi thank you for yout authentic and honest reviews. I love your channel! BTW what brand brush are you holding please? Would you recommend it?
Morphe! It’s linked in the description under “Ulta Favorites.” It’s a good set for the price, I’m just not sure about longevity (just bought it).
The rare beauty concealer is really my fave! Medium coverage and hydrating, just so perfect. I pair it with the huda powder and my undereyes are so flawless !
I use to love that one. ♥️
your makeup looks flawles, you can make a makeup video with your favorites or your everyday makeup.
Thank you! I linked my favorites in the description and makeup details. 🫶
For a perfect cool toned pink, Rare beauty has one, I cannot remember the name but its in their liquid formula. Its pretty vibrant and a true pink colour !
have you tried the ciele blush in shade january? it’s such a flattering cool toned pink!
I’ll look into it 👀
You should try the Hanalei lip treatment. It's very underrated and it comes in multiple different colors and also an untinted version
I haven’t heard of it, thanks for the suggestion 😊
Thank you so much for your honest review! It’s so refreshing to get some honest feedback about Sephora products. Would you consider reviewing the ciele skin tint + protect? I have oily skin and I’m hesitant about spending $45 on a product that is as oily/greasy as the ilia skin tint.
I will look into it ♥️
I really streamlined my purchases. I'm down for 2 foundations. I'm not going broke for stuff that I don't need. I purchase what I'm missing. I occasionally purchase something I really want. I'm not buying highend stuff if I can get a drugstore equivalent.
Love that for you 🙌
i hope you can use the cool pink as an eyeshadow
Good idea, I’ll try that
This video was so helpful and great! As for lip oils I do not like the summer Fridays lip oil it’s so oily and thin doesn’t last that long the clarins lip oil and the Haus labs are my favourites. The glow recipe due drops give more of a warm toned bronze and lean more orange which is a no for me. I think for a cool toned pink blush you should check out the one size cheek clapper blush in attention seeker. Ngl the refy mascara looks cool but I do have lashes look yours so I might skip on that
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Seems like we’re on the same page.
Preach, sis 👏
Also I do think that’s one of the catch 22s of being a make up reviewer, which is that not everything you buy or get in pr will be practical/useful. You are gonna get some duds and regrets.
You get it 🫶 it’s part of the gig
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH YOUR THE BEST
I appreciate you!! ♥️
Hi! Love your reviews, I also struggle with acne and hyperpigmentation. What foundation and concealer would you recommend for every day wear that’s light weight and has a decent coverage? I’ve been eyeing up the Lancome teint idole concealer and foundation, what do you think? Have you tried the kvd serum apple foundation?
I link my favorites and recommendations in the description. I haven’t tried any of the ones you shared! But I think Tower28 could work for you. The ones I’ve linked are much more full coverage. 🫶
Thank you for this content
❤️❤️❤️
To me hourglass as a brand is not worth it, they are so overpriced and everything you can get a cheaper alternative, even within other high end brands. I think the cool tone pink tones are hard to find something that suits. I have a light medium skin tone similar to you and the too faced candy clouds one worked well for me, it is matte as well. Maybe that might work better for you. Another is the Pat mc grath blush in cherish, its a lovely matte pink
Thanks for the recommendations, I’ll look into them. 🫶
new beauty TH-camr to binge watch unlocked
Ahhhh, I hope you enioy!
I LOVE U AND YE MAKEUP IS SOOI PRETTY
Thank you 🫶
A few ways to buy better and not fall into needing it all. 1) follow people with similar skin tone/skin concerns so you can have a better idea how it would look/work for your skin.
2) follow ACTUAL WORKING makeup artist. Please stop putting all your buying power into these influencers who ONLY know how to put make up on there face when they are making everything they do an add for the masses. They will give you a better understanding of how to better shop as well.
I have been over seas so shopping at Sephora is 100% online for me now so I had to switch to educating myself better and I have had way less fails without getting to play in person and falling for the new new every two seconds.
First, thank you for sharing your suggestions. I’m always open to them and think they’re helpful for the community. ♥
I just want to dig a little deeper:
You advise against putting all our buying power into influencers who only put makeup on themselves, but you also recommend following people who look like us. These points seem contradictory.
As a content creator myself, I might be biased, but I think it’s important to consider the type of influencer people choose to follow rather than dismissing influencers entirely. I agree that there is value in finding representation in influencers who look like us. However, this doesn’t mean we all lack credibility just because we aren’t makeup artists. Plus, it’s unfair to group us all together due to some deceptive “bad eggs” in the industry.
Additionally, some professional makeup artists specialize in styles (like wedding or red carpet) that don’t necessarily align with everyday needs. We often assume they have experience with a variety of skin tones and textures, but this depends on their scope of work. While they are credible and I personally love learning techniques from them, I rarely see makeup artists showcasing their work on someone with severe acne. And if a makeup artist posts content, there is a chance they are making money through sponsorships and ads too.
Overall, I agree with your suggestions. I just wanted to share another perspective because I’ve been seeing a lot of rhetoric against influencers lately. Also, I think you just sparked a new video idea for me. ✨
Same I just realized now that I am wasting my money and decluttering nonstop 🙃
It’s a painful cycle 😭
can u pls let me know if the too-faced foundation/concealer and ct setting spray is good? ♡
I love the ct setting spray and I’ve never tried the too faced products 🫶
Hourglass powder… totally agree. SO not worth the price. It’s just like a “meh” product. But the Laura Mercier foundation is BOMB! As is the One Size Spray!!
One size setting spray is 100/10. And I’m so happy you love the Laura Mercier foundation!
Had to come back to say I LOVE the Hue drops on my medium skin tone BUT I love them because I go tanning…. So when I miss a week of tanning, these help to boost my complexion as my face tan is always first to fade.
Another viral product not worth it at all (to me) is the new ABH mascara (lash & sculpt something…) …. My Benefit Bad Gal Bang or the Thrive mascara is 10x better. The ABH one gives good length, but no volume. An AMAZING mascara I recently discovered (and I am NOT usually a drug store mascara girl) is the Milani one in the turquoise tube with the gold cap and gold stars (can’t remember the name). If you see this is drug store I HIGHLY recommend!!!
New to your channel - it's so cute how you hold the "mic". I appreciate that you are not yelling or using phone voice in your video. Make sure to smash the like on your way by!
Thank you so much for your comment 😊
lip oil was just made to scam everyone during the clean girl aesthetic moment. clean makeup isn’t real a lot of the time, but brands that don’t have a clean mindset will take those concepts and more people are going to buy it rather than just that clean audience. i just think it’s eh. the nyx ones are good, but it’s a different texture gloss that’s it. it’s not groundbreaking tbh.
Interesting take 👀
THANKYOUUU!
Much love ♥️
Elle you should try Obviously & Mine from Patrick Ta, but when you run out of the holiday gloss; definitely buy the shade Syringe. ❤
Edit: Say less from PT is white base. It was milk-pink on me too. 😅
Appreciate the recommendation 🙌
@@ellerchu you’re welcome ☺️
I don't know if you have tried it yet, but if you want a flattering pink blush, you can try a purple blush. It comes out pink and compliments brown skin and warmer undertones😂
It’s hard to find a purple blush, but I’ve been on the lookout
That's true, I've tried the morphe one and it's pretty good, but I've been looking to try the fenti one too, do you know if it's good or not? It's hard to find a good one but once you do it's worth it because it's pretty much the only "pink blush" I find flattering
@@catherinek1180 A lot of purple blushes are cream which I don’t love. The grace liquid blush from rare beauty is the closest I’ve found. I’m also interested in the purple NYX buttermelt blush, but haven’t tried it yet.
Ohhh I have the purple nyx buttermelt one! It's great and I find it really compliments my skin. Only go with a light hand because they are very pigmented, I recommend dusting the excess off before applying
Perfect. Thanks so much for the confirmations! ♥️
Like if you love Ellie ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
The thing is, it has taken me about five years just to finish my only sparkly Physicians Formula bronzer. Plenty of product left. I still have lipgloss from 2018 to finish. Don't even get me started with the eyeshadows that i have had for over ten years. The reason why I try with all my might to resist buying new products is because I know I will be stuck with it for multiple years, trying to finish the darn thing.
That is the reality 😅
I don’t think I would like that Patrick Ta lipgloss one me either, I don’t like that opaque pastel colors on my unless they are very sheer which i prefer!
Definite skip 👋
The brush mic !
😉
try hauslabs blush sticks
I don’t really like glowy cream blushes, so I won’t be reviewing them. 😅
Girl, I wanna see if you actually was able to cut through that Sapphire chase card 😂
I don’t think so, it’s freakin metal. They know what they’re doing 🤣
Thx for scoop on hourglass b/c influencers are pushing that hard!!!
Happy to help ☺️
We probably have the same undertone: neutral. Anything with a white base (no blue or green) will look ashy on us. 😅
Yeah I have never found a perfect match in Fenty beauty.
Omg yes, I have a neutral warmish undertone. I’m glad it’s not just me!
@@ellerchu yeah girl; I am olive fall-spring & peach spring summer…FB colors are too yellow, white, or orange for me. But I love her bronzers, lip products etc
could u maybe split your video into sections? like so we can skip to the sections we wanna see/ see what the products are called bc if u miss it once u kinda have to click around to find it Idk how to describe it but I've seen other TH-camrs do it its like blue and every section has a title of the product or book or whatever the video is about
50$ for a BASIC POWDER?!?!?! that’s more than the haus labs foundation and that has skincare in it!
Yeah 🫣
The only lip oil I tried and liked was the nyx one and it’s more of a gloss than anything else i hated anything else the giuso (you get me) is literally just canola oil in fancy glass bottle that’s weirdly overpriced, I can’t see myself buying a makeup product that’s over 30$ that’s my limit I won’t go higher even if I can buy it but no I know myself I will regret it an hour later.
I got the new Gisou lip oils and I actually like them 😆 but I understand you!
Under 2 hrs❤
🙌
U are definitely gonna get big one day (not that 10k isn’t big 😂
Thank you for the support ☺️
Idc how nice a blush is I'm not paying $40 for it
I don’t blame you
Girl you’re applying Patrick ta wrong. He said the powder should be applied first then put the cream ontop . Might work better for you this way :)
The video actually shows me applying it this way. Its the color that is the problem as I've already mentioned in the video. 🫶
Fenton has so many shades to choose from. Why don’t any of them match my skin?
Felt this
Why is she holding the blush brush the whole video 😅
If you know, you know 😉
lip oils don't do anything for anyone, they're such a dumb trend.
I’m also not a fan of lip oils. But we don’t need to call things that other people may enjoy dumb. 💛
First comment! 📌
🥇
Girl why are you talking into a makeup brush? 💀
If you know, you know
I think it’s a cute and unique touch to the video
It’s a microphone lol
I honestly wish brands would stop coming out with lip oils and balms🫠😅 Having a few options was great at first, but now there are just way too many and I'm over it.
They won’t stop until there’s a new trend unfortunately 🫣
i was literally about to buy the urban decay foundation, from all the other reviews i've seen they said it was full coverage so i thought it would be good for my acne-prone skin 🥲
I think in person it gave me enough coverage, but when I film or take photos its not enough (I can still see my hyperpigmentation). I prefer the It Cosmetics Matte CC cream, but do whatever will work for you best! ♥️
An idea to help see what works or not is you could perhaps watch reviews of other content creators but find creators that have similar skin tones or similar skin textures? I think that way you’re getting a review from someone who might have the same preferences, I hope this helps because I genuinely feel your pain when you buy a product and it doesn’t work, that stuff is expensive 😭🥹
I do all of the above. But sometimes that doesn’t help either bc people have different preferences and it looks different online and different lighting. Even swatching in store doesn’t always work. That’s why I stress trying to listen to my own intuition and preferences more. 😭
