My mother and I vacationed in Costa Rica back in 1986 when I was very young. We spent the first day in San Jose, and then we spent most of our vacation in Jaco Beach, which is in the Puntarenas province near the border of Panama. We stayed at the Jaco Beach Hotel, which last I heard had been changed to a Best Western hotel. Back then Jaco Beach was like a friendly, little town. The environment there was very family-oriented back then. It was a treat for us, because it was winter back where we lived in the United States and this was the first time that we had ever seen the Pacific Ocean in person. One could even see the ocean from the hotel restaurant. The small town of Orotina was nearby. I still have the cowboy hat that I purchased in one of the stores there. Jaco Beach felt like a traditional village in Central America. Food stores even had their fruits and vegetables outside their store windows close to the street, because nobody would have stolen them. It was that safe there. Nobody worried about any crime there back then. That's one of the reasons that parents took their kids there to vacation. Everything there was also inexpensive. Each American dollar was worth 54 colones back then. No mobs of tourists. Just friendly faces. After spending nearly two weeks there and meeting a lot of interesting people, I always told my mother afterwards that I would go back there someday; but I never did. Sadly enough, a couple of Costa Rican friends of mine recently told me that Jaco Beach had changed drastically since then. They told me that it was no longer the friendly, little town where families went to vacation and that it had turned into a fast-paced environment that no longer catered to parents with kids. That is so sad. Not too long ago, I once stumbled across a video here on TH-cam that showed a young boy playing table tennis with his father there at Jaco Beach Hotel, and it had originally been video-recorded back in 1991; and I remember that same ping-pong table inasmuch as I had played table tennis on it with a couple of Costa Rican girls whom I had met there back in 1986. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find that video again here on TH-cam. Nevertheless, your video made me think of those times when my mother and I had vacationed in Costa Rica in 1986. You and your family stayed at a resort somewhere further up the Pacific coastline in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica. When you were having breakfast with your three daughters, it looked as though you were eating in a courtyard, which would be interesting. Tamarindo doesn't look as small as Jaco Beach did back in 1986. If there were such a thing as a time machine, I would have encouraged you and Tyler and your three daughters to jump into it to travel temporarily back to 1986 and vacation in Jaco Beach inasmuch as I know that you all would have loved that place as it was in those days, but, unfortunately, time machines don't exist. In any event, Tamarindo still looks like a fun place to visit. By the way, Chantal, in case you were wondering, I gave your video a thumbs-up. :-)
Greetings from Sweden, Europe. very great done work waves to be first time. Dont forget to say thank you very much to your father because he do the great work to make filming, exellent videos and super cute fantasyic amazing family. Welcome to Scandinavia next time in Europe.
This was very enjoyable. 20 minutes is a real good length. The music was tastefully selected (as usual). The video & audio were just right. Crocodiles: "That way- if they're out- they'll get the other people before they get us." Excellent logic. (lol) Later: "They must leave the people alone." (They've probably had their fill.) :)
Search 'Crocodile Attack'. On the Wikipedia site it reads that 1,000 people each year are killed by crocodiles. I guess you just can't trust a crocodile. @@GrowingUpWithoutBorders
It's something , how I was surfing through the walking the world videos. Then I found this Growing up without borders. I just love the videos. They make me wish I had a family and have done something like this. Thanks for the videos. Even though there are other videos of people traveling the world, to me this one is the best!
Out of the few of your videos I have watched so far, this is the first video that I fully watched. Costa Rica seems interesting, a nice, tropical place!
Hi fams, this video popped up after watching your live, so here I am enjoying every moment 👍🏽 you bring... I'm loving this awesome place, great thinking Chantal " Go to the other end of the beach 😂 🐊, wow I so love all your artwork, I'd definitely buy those they're beautiful and done by my favorite whanau ✌🏽😁🤙🏽
He’s amazing! We had such a great experience because of our time there in his studio. We literally travelled all the way back through Central America then through Mexico carrying our paintings we did at Juniors.
the girls were killing them waves great job! I watched jaws 1 to many times as a kid lol. Costa Rica has so much to see and experience. watching from Louisiana
Hi, it's Dave from MN USA WOW!!! You are all soooo creative and artistic. You all get blue ribbons if in competition and I have a hard time selecting a Grand Champion Painter, but, I was really impressed from the beginning with Chloe's masterpiece. Congratulations Chloe!
My fiancee and I LOVE your videos!!!!! WE went to Tamarindo last week and saw your video before our trip. You did such a great job describing everything. We love the positivity on all of you and look forward to seeing more! We are looking at your Central america series and it looks like a lot of fun. We hope to go to Nicaragua some time soon, pura vida!
Wow i was mentioning you guys to some of my friends from Costa Rica and he you are i was showing them some Croatian videos and then i found this you guys are awesome.
hello i'm watching from morocco, that's really cool painting and surfing enjoy your yourselves , between this my favorite talent and i at this field art .,
Looks like a great tourist town. The cafes and restaurants look so nice and it would be the perfect spot to learn to surf. We did a surf lesson in El Salvador and really enjoyed it, so hopefully we'll be able to take more lessons in Costa Rica in the future.
your vids are really good..thankis...can you do some Q & A sessions....so the kids dont go to school....and dad can work remotely ...how much is the daily budget y'all spending...dad must be making alot of moola! :)
"They'll get the other people before they get us" 😂😂😂 I'd certainly be terrified of going anywhere near the crocs. I'd go eat those big a --- nachos instead.
Joshua Taylor food at the restaurants can be no cheaper than in North America. Supermarkets are very expensive. The spots where locals eat called ‘sodas’ are a cheaper and often more delicious option.
You are in a part of Costa Rica which was discovered/ developed for tourists quite some time ago. All $$ resorts are along the coast within 1hr drive. Have you tried more authentic Tico experience, like Puerto Jimenez/Osa Penninsula ? Very exotic.
@Orlando I never trashed any country.. I did not say the the their country was bad or trash.. To say something is better is not to say that the other thing is bad..
@Orlando I would not mind if the statement was true.. If i did get upset then i would be at fault for being to soft and emotional.. Or too quick to take offense.. But yes Australia in many measures is a very nice place to be so if someone has a better thing going then i would be happy for them.. No country can be the best in all areas of measure.. I would never make the claim that Australia is the best in everything..
Hi, from Altadena, California! Up to now I have still been holding on to the video from Tarifa Spain as my favorite but I really loved this one from Tamarindo. I wanna go! Keep going! Yay!
