  • Here is a video series about developing coordination using left foot clave.
In this video I focus on bass drum independence.
I show you how I work on these concepts from the beginning in a step-by-step manner. I am using my book Advanced Coordination for Drum Set and Hand Percussion, for these playing examples You can order it by contacting me at rickdior@gmail.com
The drums used in this video are Peavy Radial 1000's.
The snare drum is a 6.5x 14 Canopus Zelkova
    The cymbals are:
Paiste 8: mini hi hats mounted
Sabian 13" HH regular hi hats
Zildjian remix 12" hi hats mounted
    Sabian 20" Jack DeJohnette Ride
    Sabian 16" Vault crash
    Paiste 18" traditional crash
The pedal mechanism is an LP.
You can see a video on these types of foot pedals here

Honest to God, if there were nothing at all on TH-cam but Rick's drum videos, it would be worth buying a computer.😎

Great playing, I haven't seen those drums in a very long time. Just wondering about how you are tuning your toms. If you don't mind me asking, do you specifically tune your toms to intervals or just going for best sound from each drum. This has been an area of interest now for some time as the returns on time spent in the tuning dept really have a big impact. You sound great on a great sounding kit. Thanks again for the videos.

Sorry this is off topic but any opinions on snare weight M1? It’s a leather dampener that clips to the rim and has adjustable contact size

I have not used it but I think the price is much too high for what it does.
      There are much cheaper options.
Just cut a piece of thin leather in several sizes and clip it to the rim.
