I LOVE when it's confirmed that I follow and support the right people! Thanks for the beginning Whit, appreciate you speaking out and giving people actionable things to do. I ALSO have republican senators and when I'm calling I also talk about how I do not consent to my tax dollars being sent to Israel and it's government overreach to do so lol. So many ways you can appeal to what they actually care about while standing up for the right thing. Aside from that, it's just nice to see a new vlog from you (:
Thanks so much for sharing the 5call site. I had no idea about it and this war and the deaths have put me in an extremely depressed state and make me very sad for humanity. I am definitely going to be making that call. Some great book recs I hadn't heard of. Added to my never-ending tbr. I'm always so happy when you have a new video up. ❤
in regards to resources on palestine, i would recommend abby martin! she made a documentary called 'gaza fights for freedom' which is on the youtube channel empire files, and that channel also has so many other great videos. i'm so glad to see you speaking about this topic whitney, the silence in the book community on any important subjects in general, but especially really world changing events like this is disappointing again and again.
I'm a mood reader so I totally understand reading multiple books at once. Right now I'm sitting on 11 and eventually I do finish one, make progress in another and then start a new one. It's never ending!
thank you so so much for speaking on Palestine and letting us know about 5calls. I paused your vlog to check it out, and it really was as easy as you said. you're a gem ✨ edit: i also want to say that your demonstration really helped ease my phone anxiety so ty ty ty 💖
I totally get that fascination with an area and how it changes through the span of time, and nothing delivered on that feeling for me more than the movie A Ghost Story, which is slow and quiet, but really fascinating as well. 🤓👍🏻
For Alexis Hall, I would recommend his books: Boyfriend Material A Lady for a Duke 10 Things That Never Happened For me he’s really hit or miss. I loved the ones listed above, thought Mortal Follies was ok, Husband Material didn’t really feel necessary, and thought his murder mystery was just kinda meh. He’s very talented though so I’d easily recommend people try out his work even if it’s not something that worked for me! He has a few other books that I’m excited to try out, too.
I am also from Texas and when I took Texas history in college I read “The Captured” by Scott Zesch (he’s also a white man writing this book rip) BUT it’s a topic I never really heard of where white children would be taken by the native Americans and then grow up with them and start preferring that culture than the western culture. It honestly read pretty unbiased and was a really interesting read as a Texan, would definitely recommend!
The way I thought someone was breaking into your apartment at 5:50 and it was just the kitty cat! I loved That Summer Feeling so much! It was so adorable and definitely could make you feel seen. Also, I cannot recommend the book North Woods by Daniel Mason enough because it’s literally about a house and the people who have lived in it through time and how they are all connected! 🍉
6:59 I’ve had this thought many times and highly recommend a new release literary fiction novel which gets at this question about an old farmhouse in Massachusetts - North Woods by Daniel Mason. Very fun but great writing!! Heavy on the nature writing and has some magical realism elements as well.
Would recommend reading more memoirs, I love those a lot. We were dreamers by Simu Liu, Deaf utopia by Nyle DiMarco, Me by Elton John, Over the top by Jonathan Van Ness.
I can recommend you an indigenous peoples history of the united states by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz as a starting point for US History from indigenous view points! I read it years ago and was really impressed. And even though I'm from Germany and did not know many of the smaller historic events she writes about I could follow and understand it really well! Also can't wait for your recommendation about South American History, since I want to learn a lot more about them too!
Made me so happy to see you had uploaded 😍 (Still always support following the schedule that fits you btw). Thank you for speaking on Palestine 🫶🏼 Also love the honesty about US history and shitty (corrupt) politicians
my husband and i both got new desk chairs and we put the old ones in the garage and the cats go out there just to sit on the chairs. we can't get rid of them or else the cats will scream about it.
I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that it would be great if you just posted a compilation video of you and Gordo talking... or even a video of how long he will respond to you lol
So this is also by a white man but it’s such a good book about the ecological shift that happened when settlers came to New England, it’s by William Cronon and it’s called “Changes in the Land”. He uses so much diary and journal entries from settlers and also talks about Native people’s land management ugh it was so informative and it infuriating.
At 0:36 balme the prime minister, as someone who is from Israel this war is so bad not just in Palestine side but also in the Israeli side we have a few people kidnapped but worse of all some lost family members (like my family who just to buried a family who was killed in this war ). The amount of grief and anger I have really takes a toll on my mental health, but also please people try to imagine that you are just a teenager and have to go to funerals (more than five)
i meant north and south american continents, so central america would be part of that! but yes, definitely interested in the indigenous people of central america as well :)
Please also include the call to release the hostages in your call for a ceasefire! And yiiiiikes, not you having to call Ted Cruz for this 🫠 (even if he didn't answer)
@youngbloods_t Please include the call to release the 2+ million people in Gaza living in an open-air prison for, being evicted from their homes, and dealing with the utmost brutality from zionist settlers for 75+ years in your comment. Also, Israelis are not victims, they're European colonizers who are a part of a billion dollar budget military, which they're obliged to enlist in, that makes them prisoners of war, one which they themselves waged by stealing land and brutality occupying the indigenous population. The only reason they were captured in the first place is to swap them with Palestinians who are wrongfully imprisoned (children being among them) in the torture chambers that are Israeli prisons. so many of the 'hostages' by the way have come out and talked about how the resistance fighters treated them humanely, which is a far cry from how Israelis behave in regards to Palestinian hostages.
Thank you so much for acknowledging the situation in Palestine, it's so important for people to not look away! I appreciate you
And to think I could not love you more. Thank you for using your platform to help the beautiful people if Palestine. 🍉

People in the UK can email their MP which sounds like the same as the 5call site you mentioned. Thanks for speaking out on this Whitney ❤
Omg I'm the same with the "HAUL" energy. I've reserved 35 books with my library (mostly audios!) and it's so satisfying. :D
thanks so much for sharing 5calls!! it was so helpful and easy to use!!

1491 is one of THE best books I've ever read. So good.
my husband and i both got new desk chairs and we put the old ones in the garage and the cats go out there just to sit on the chairs. we can't get rid of them or else the cats will scream about it.
Kate Spencer wrote, " In a New York Minute " it's really cute!

I am very sorry for your losses.
@@Sarasstorytime22 thanks
Share your propaganda somewhere else, this is not your safe place, coloniser.
When u say both americas, u mean North and South? Do u guys dont count central america?
i meant north and south american continents, so central america would be part of that! but yes, definitely interested in the indigenous people of central america as well :)
that new cassandra clare book sounds so much like an a darker shade of magic ripoff
you should see killers of the flower moon while it is still in theaters!! many osage tribe members contributed to the film and theres also a book :) 🤍

I tried calling my rep but they just set the phone down and left me so I emailed my senator and rep instead. So good to see you again, whit 🩵
