Townsville was my adopted hometown for 15 months until 3 days ago when i made the regretful decision to return to new zealand. Im gunna miss the friendly people who would greet strangers in the street. I should write an epitaph as im already missing Townsville
Yes, it has been fact-checked with the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The Townsville population is 183,332. That’s about 28,000 higher than the Cairns population. This Townsville population figure is according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics". Data released March 2021.
Townsville and Thuringowa Shire merged in 2008. I've lived in both, and Cairns is far nicer. While it retains its regional town charm, Townsville has a "we're a big city without acting like a big city" mentality. It would seem "locking up your cars" should be Number one of things to do in Townsville.
One thing that irked me somewhat was the views of the boat-shaped island (3:40) while the narrator was talking about Magnetic Island. The visitor might be forgiven for believing that the boat-shaped island is Magnetic Island since it was never explained as being anything other. Why were you remiss in explaining what that island is and also giving its name? What IS its name? I've sent this video clip to a friend in the U.S., but I needed to let them know that the boat-shaped island IS NOT Magnetic Island. Otherwise, a nice video. Thanks.
Hi, the boat-shaped island at 03:40 is actually a shipwreck just off the beach at Magnetic Island that now has trees growing on it. There is more information about it on our Magnetic Island video ~ th-cam.com/video/zKnQQUFpbms/w-d-xo.html Thanks for pointing out that we didn't explain it very well and will endeavour to do so in our future videos.
