That was one of the most ominous scenes in television history. What a feeling, I'll never forget it. My spine froze from the bottom up the first time I saw it. And then Luke's speech "There is no cause for alarm. Well, there IS cause for alarm, it just won't do you...any good." Now that intro...it made my spine tingle. My hat's off to the casting department and writers for making this scene so powerful.
I'm 74 years old. Major sci-fi, computer, comic book geek, I first heard this on Buffy (as I recall Part 2 of the pilot). Other tunes I have gleaned from TV shows are IZombie's theme - Deadboy and the Elephant Men "Stop, I'm Already Dead". From the Lost Girl pilot - Band of Skulls "I Know What I Am". Further from the Sci Fi series Special Unit 2 pilot came Transister's "Look Who's Perfect Now". I would not have known about Korn were it not from a few songs in Queen of the Damned. And from the not so great American Werewolf in Paris I first heard Bush's "Mouth." Thankfully all look-up-able on TH-cam! Love such cross-media!
This is from episode 2, "The Harvest”. I find a lot of cool music from tv series, too. "White Collar” and "Miami Vice” had good soundtracks. A database called Tunefind has been helpful, because some of these series don’t list all of the music played.
I was 9 or 10 when Buffy first started airing on tv. There was no DVR and for some reason we couldnt easily record it on VHS. Shout out to my mom for letting me quit girl scouts to stay home and watch Buffy in real time 😅
My friend, who worked on the series, sent me the VHS tapes she made of the original airings. I later recorded the whole series on my DVR (which died, sadly). I still have some of those original tapes, but no VHS player. My smart tv won’t connect to anything except the internet. I need an old school tv and a VHS player. 😅

I LOVE THIS SONG!! 💖 I love the way it starts so dark It's sort of haunting in a weird way. It's so chilling. I would totally slow dance to this song I'm a 90's girl \m/💀🖤💘
loved this song ever since i first watched buffy, i was probably like 8 watching reruns on TNT. wish i watched it when it first came out but i was like 4 in 96.
@@beachgirl4583 I also grew up with it and despite envying Tara's peace of mind and Buffy's strength I've always been a Willow girl. ...I think we can all agree Dawn sucks though.
Cla Ida, I don’t hate Dawn. She didn’t make me give up on the series, like Connor did on Angel. The writers didn’t know what to do with her. We’re used to level headed (mostly) teens on Buffy. Dawn’s a normal, angsty, emo teen.
@@beachgirl4583 I knew there was gonna be a bit of controversy, and I agree with you to some extent. To me, she was fine as the Key, and although I find her a bit whiny and below average I guess it could have been much worse of a portrayal of an angsty teen. However in my opinion she should have died at the end of S5 (to me letting her alive even though the blood was still flowing in her veins created a plot hole) and she became increasingly annoying because she had little to no character development. I mean yes her views on Spike changed as she understood stuff, she became a bit more mature but she's never relevant. Maybe I should rewatch the last season though.
To think I was 8 years old when this song aired on season 1 episode 2 of Buffy! It definitely has that 90s Grunge feel to it! God I miss the fukin 90s!
As do I but it had one of the best finale episodes of any tv show! LOVED that glint of a smile on Buffy's face when she knew she was no longer in it alone.
@MsMaxine12345 no it's actually from the episode The Harvest, when Darla and the other vampires are walking up to the bronze. It's the only song from the first season on the soundtrack... :)
I can't find this one anywhere but on YT. iTunes doesn't have it. Ping me (isn't it sort of cool that YT notifies us now?) if you find a link to it. I'd buy it if iTunes had it. I agree about the music on the show- most of it was great.
Funny that i was just going to say that in a comment that this comes from the episode The Harvest because I can picture Darla walking along with the other vampires. XD
How easy their lives would have been with cell phones, eh? A call here, a facetime there. No running around town or waiting for someone to get home to reach them.
Darla skipping to the Bronze in slow motion ...
Alistair Drennan it's the first thing I think 💭 of ... awesome!

Yes it is
iconic
Cordelia dancing in slow motion
Just started watching Buffy (yes I'm a bit late) and I heard this song on the harvest and was like...I need this song.
I know the feeling and don’t worry I’m later
Same but one year later
It’s never too late to start binging this amazing show
I just started binging Buffy for the first time yesterday.
Yay welcome to the Whedonverse!!!
The slow walk of Darla and her Vamp boys to the Bronze I think. One of many slo mo walks throughout the series
At first I was thinking of Xander when he was a hyena😂
@@jonathanedward1642 this one was "Job's Eyes" by Far
Genius
Yea but this was probably the best. The sadistic smile on her face and dead serious (literally) on everyone else's was perfect

The BEST 90’s grunge. Still so so good decades later.
Oh the bittersweet late 90s and early 00s
I’m sad they are not on Spotify
ME TOOOOO
Lmao Thats where I went first too. Spotify is lacking
Gutted I searched for ages for them too 🙁
they're not on Amazon Music either; was looking for this song just the other day.
They’re not on Apple Music/iTunes, either. They’re really good.
The doorman at the The Bronze like dammmmnnn... as Darla and her boys walk... 90s grunge and Buffy, take me back!
i am such a 90's girl! I would totally slow dance to this song!!!!!!!!
Who wouldn't? :)
Rock Lover what year were you born
Need a partner? 90's Boy here :)
Curious given the lyrical content.
WITH that black dress on, we sureeeee would!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘♥️🤘♥️🤘🤘

BTVS has such an amazing soundtrack I wish they would bring the show back or at least of made more seasons
I know it's not the same but they made comic books that continue the story. It's canonic.
It's still in progress, the last season is the 12th
It ended before it could go on too long and get old/lame.
I like how the song starts! It's sort of haunting in a weird way.
Melancholic songs just sound better.
No vampire series will beat Buffy and Angel.
Real talk
Well, there's Interview with the vampire now
Only Buffy, cause Angel is not even close.
First 3 seasons of Buffy are the best!

Still so annoyed that I can’t find this song anywhere but TH-cam. I was 10 when I first heard /watched this. Best 90s grunge
It took me forever to find this song. This is my favorite song from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I thought for sure it was Nirvana

How amazing it was when shows played this kind of mainstream music.
This wasn't main stream than, the cool part is all the bands that played the bronze were upcoming bands in L.A at the time
this song slaps
Have you been dreaming; I don’t dream at all. I have nightmares
Sounds like Nirvana Unplugged ; great sound
If this is not the best compliment to this band then they don't know music.

I love this song till about 2:43 then it's like..........restart lol
me too but the end is awesome with the solo !
I grew to appreciate it but I know that feel.
Fully! It's not bad, but it doesn't "go" with the rest of the song. It's like a bad bridge in an otherwise awesome tune.
I kind of wish it was part of a seperate, more up tempo song. I like it, but it doesn't go with this song.
thats like the problem with 90% of all music in history. To pull of every part of a song is haaard.
@MsMaxine12345 the song you want is called Job's Eyes by Far, if you didn't know already by now XD
