  • This video provides a broad overview of peripheral nerve clinical neurophysiology in terms of principles and practice. It was designed for Neurologists approaching their final MRCP(UK) Speciality Certificate in Neurology 'exit' exams and contains a number of worked examples with data interpretation of important patterns.
I am a Member of the RCP(UK), but I have not been commissioned or asked to develop this teaching and so cannot claim to represent the views of the College, the BNS or those setting the exam questions.
The topics discussed are reflective of the curriculum requirements (www.jrcptb.org.uk/sites/defau...) and I would urge those of you who have not been to a CNP Clinic to do so, as it will bring this all to life (and we are a friendly bunch).
    The cases presented include:
    Length dependent neuropathy
    Generalised neuropathy
    Sensory Ganglionopathy
    Charcot Marie Tooth Type 1
    Guillain-Barre
    Myasthenia
There are lots of other patterns and please do feel free to check out the other cases on this channel where there are some more clinical points, aside from dry data.
    Good luck with the exams!

I'm in graduate school going onto medical school, and I decided to write a review paper for a class all about seronegative myasthenia gravis. Ten pages in, I realize I need to understand different clinical tests and write about them. This in-depth video is very helpful to sum up what I've learned.

    Excellent Explanation.
Have a question: How does the treatment differ in case of Positive and Negative symptoms?

Many thanks Sabir! Differentiating between symptoms helps to identify the underlying cause. Treatment is then targeted to the cause, managing symptoms and improving quality of life/function.

Doctor, could you please tell me how long do fibrilation potentials last if muscle is denervated?

    • @DrSimonFreilich
      @DrSimonFreilich  ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Adam, it's actually quite complex and depends on the degree of denervation, atrophy and any re-innervation. Typically they last between 6 months to 2 years, but they have been reported to last for many years too. Bw Simon

@@DrSimonFreilich Thank you doctor. Is it because muscle turns into fat cells?
