Always great to see your mod opinions - I’m clueless when it comes to best mods for games outside of Napoleon and Empire - and now that I’m expanding my Total War collection I’ll be using this video! Ps. Thank you for the mention for FCN ❤ Much love from the team, and you are always great to battle with!
Only been playing Total War a few years but love them, my fave is Rome 2, but that said the modding community in Total War is amazing, massive respect to them, I wouldn't even know where to start. Massive thanks to the modders for making the games even more enjoyable.
for shogun 2 master of strategy gives undoubtedly the best campaign experience. You have to conquer japan with small army and the mechanics are so challenging that it will make you wanna cry. I am sure it has the best battle ai and the ai is always active using different strategy and the cavalry always try to hide in the forest and flank your army. oh and the campaign ai is so aggressive and active you will get atleast 4 daimyo dead messages just in 2 turns. the factions are always conquering each other and making new alliances while if they sense their allies growing too big then they break alliances and I am talking about npc factions doing it to npc factions unlike the vanilla which always focuses on the player faction. basically if you want challenging mechanics, units and most importantly AI then the mod is for you.
@@lavordavor7738I think they means that he already owns one of the games, for example: why buy medieval 3(if it ever comes out) when you can play medieval kingdoms 1212 ad
Medieval 2 is the king imo. that's where the modding scene really bloomed. I mean damn. all the settings. From fantasy like Lord of the Rings, Warhammer, and the crazily well done Zelda mod (Just song mining that mod was a gem), to medieval mods for settings like the Balkans in 1345, Renneiscance italy, untold numbers of just reworked base game mods. And the more modern mods like Lucium which has Europe from 1700 and South America in 1819!!! And theres always more coming!!! I need to check out the historical Insularis Draco mod and I just have to get around playing the Wrath of the Norsemen mod again. I just love Vikings and there are like 3 top notch viking mods out there for Medieval two and a bunch more feautring them.
Very nice video mate, thank you. Congratulations on the 40k subs, well deserved, you are a top notch Total War content creator who focuses on the Historical side.

I was debating whether I should take the time to watch this video. I have RTW1, RTW1R, MTW1, STW2, RTW2, and ATW1. As I already watch your mod videos, I didn't think I would find anything worthwhile. I was already using DMS, and didn't think it could get any better. And then, you introduced Samurai Strongholds. What a fantastic improvement to game play; just tried it ... only L1, just a quick new campaign test. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Great video, really useful to someone who is new to using the mods as it can be a little overwhelming and a lot of trial and error to work out whats good and what mods work together. What would be helpful is a video on each game with a recommended set up of best mods that work together based upon your experience. Maybe choose a major overhaul and then smaller improvement mods for us to try out. Keep the videos coming, we need this while we wait for CA to sort themselves out and provide a game worth purchasing.
I cant make good old medieval 2 mods work my laptop now. Stainless Steel and Broken Crescent were my favourite mods back than. Thanks dude for bringing back Good memories
Victoria Total War was a mod that had a ton of promise but sadly died due to lack of time and the modding team being so small. At the end it was essentially the original guy working on it. But he was kind enough to announce the mod was no longer being worked on instead of just leaving it ambiguous. Had a good run for like 10 years though.
I dont play much Rome 1 anymore now but I remember lanjanes barbarian empires (shown at 6:08)being a very underrated mod. The last video I posted on my channel uses the mod. Great video btw
In Attila, I love playing Fireforged Empire, MK 1212 and Age of Justinian. Also, Voodoo has incredible reskin mods for Attila like Dux Bellorum, Sons of Calgacos, Imperium Barbarorum (I think they are HD reskin mods). And in Thrones og Britannia, I must say that the mod Conquest: 1066 Campaign does a great job in bringing at least some variaty in the game.
I'm surprised LME wasn't mentioned for Napoleon. It offers multiple campaign start dates (1792 to 1815) and units according to each one of them. Gotta check this one out Terminator!!
With OG Rome, my favorite two mods are The First Triumvirate, and a simple vanilla mod called Vanilla RTW. It adds two settlements to the map, rearranges starting positions so that Carthage and the Seleucid Empire survive longer, and banishes the Britons to Britannia so they don’t take over the map all the time, as well as got rid of purely fantasy units like Urban Cohorts. It was a great mod, that I’d love to see ported to Rome Remastered. I just don’t have the skill or time to do it myself.
Thank you for review mod of Rome original and Rome Remastered. Too bad that you skipped my mod, Extended Cultures (XC), during review but it is alright, the best yet to come anyway.
Dude, Empire II and Pirates Uber Alles are so complicated in the process to install... so I've just left them alone. There's a way to rename the Empire folder and then create a new folder, but with Empire II and PUA I guess you can't.
One of the problems I experienced with Tsardoms is that diplomacy didn't really work, I could never get peace with my enemies; it's been awhile since I played it though.
Don't forget. When it comes to shogun 2 modding CA screwed most of the modding scene for this game with their most recent patch months ago and to this day a lot of them don't work.
Hi, as a big fan of your channel, i will do some small PR here for myself, as i´ve saw my icon in mods of RR: "Glory of Rome Remastered" released version 0.1. the public first release focus on groundworks for bigger map + factions, religions, units and new statsystem for more ballanced battles, some mechanics, animations, +scripts and alot more smaller stuff, like UI and BI mechanics - but i´m currently working on 0.2, which is focusing on polishing the map further (redone all resources, faction starting behavoir, mercenary pools, some more +regions - about 720 atm + hordesettlements, ), added alot of new diverse buildings (have some previews public for roman factions, greek satrap like factions and punic governments), added some additional (missing) factions like syracuse and reworked alot in general like bugfixes, reworked rome faction concept, some starting positions, horde mechanics from BI and units + recruitment. Strongholds of the Samurai is nice. I like the immersion, but my problem with it is that the ai generally doesn't know how to move about the with most of the sieges and can be easily taken advantage of, making a rather easy campaign.
Wars of the Gods has the BEST battles in Rome 2 imho + there are several battle AI sub mods to use. The mod is difficult and for hard core players. SFO mod for Three Kingdoms (records mode) is the best recent Total War game. Awesome mod. Too bad the game’s UI is still shit tho.
Regarding Shogun 2, does anyone remember if there is a mod that improves the horrendous vanilla diplomacy? Also as Meroe and Blemmyes I get attacked from every direction from Egypt, from the south by Axum, from the east by the Nabateans and/or the Himyar. About campaign there are some shit for scripted event for roman empire, for instance if vandals have been destroyed thay respawn automativally in africa by scripting without a rebellion but by taking directly cities that you own......😮. Darthmod for RTW is trash. Despite what every modder claims, you cannot effectively modify the AI behavior.
