Glad to see a non sponsored reviewer for a change. There are many very good sponsored reviewers here . They gain the publics trust then subtlety push there product. At great monetary gain . No blame it’s human nature to want to become a millionaire . But they are not honest . Case in point a reviewer states one month a light is fantastic . I love LED light reviews and analysis, one thing I'm surprised I'm not seeing in 2024 now that light makers are understanding IR a little better is some control of the blue/red ratio to control stretching. some 'tomatoes' like to stretch more than others, and I think we could be using our lights as tools to control that a little more.
I bought my lights according to your information. Great video!! I got a MARS HYDRO 2023 New TS1000 and a VIPARSPECTRA XS1000 and am looking forward to many great grows!!

Thank you for the complete review. It would be interesting to compare the resultant yield. You could for example dim all lights to the same PPF, and compare if their spectra resulted in better yield.
I learned a lot watching these video and got into them because I purchased a couple no name quantums off amazon for 55 bucks each and was surprised at how bright they were. After watching your recommendations i decided to buy the xs1000 because its on sale for 90 bucks on amazon, i like the heat sinks and I now like knowing the fact that have a decent company behind my warranty. Thanks you.
i spent hours looking for a grow light that was decent for my 4x4 without spending a absurd amount 4 days ago. I went with the Maxisun PB 4000 pro for $307 after a discount and a referral code and i was so happy with it. i love being able so slowly raise the brightness with the remote rather than twist something on the light. and now i know i did get a great deal like i thought. Great video! now we just need someone to test fans. i got one that i know is not nearly as powerful as it say and it really upsets me
I never understood why you would mount the driver on the back of the heatsink. I know it is for efficiency but It is just throwing heat in your grow space. I can't imagine a 4-6 foot cable causing you to loose a significant amount of current.
You would loose such an insignificant amount of power it's not even worth doing the math. By the way it's volt drop that occurs across the length of a conductor.
Thanks again for your thorough reviews! If I could just mention one little detail, it might be worth consideration when buying. The Spider Farmer and Viparspectra lights I have are coated to protect the diodes' connections from corrosion. The Cheap entry level Mars Hydro light I have (TSL-2000) has no coating at all. As I mentioned in another video, the aluminum reflector will dull over time because it is not anodized. Here's the reason for my concern: The Spider Farmer lights have a sticker on them that symbolically says "NO sulfur". Indoor growers are commonly dealing with powdery mildew. P.M. is harder to deal with in flower. Sulfur 'burners' (actually vaporizers) are the best defense. Sulfur burners work by the micro-deposition of sulfur on the leaf surfaces, which then becomes oxidized, and ultimately forms sulfuric acid. A moist atmosphere, coupled with sulfur vaporization products is not an ideal environment for electronics, especially ones with no coating. Sulfur isn't used all the time, and my intermittent use of it has not damaged my lights in any noticeable way (even the Mars lights), but it's worthy of consideration, I think. It would have never occurred to me if I hadn't seen the warning on the SF-1000. It's interesting that Spider Farmer is the only company I've seen that warns us of this potential problem. Lots of 'medicinal' users of these lights would never consider sulfur, but it has saved my crops when nothing else could. I only use it in the 12 hour room, because other products work OK in veg. And no, it has never created an off taste in the -matoes. Just some food for thought. Love your work Mr. Pepper :) Thanks.
Excellent information! Thanks for pointing that out. The ViparSpectra & Maxsisun lights have the thicker rubbery coating. The current generation of SF1000 is the thinner hard type. HYDRA-1000 is coated in that same way.
Excellent review. Thank you for submitting and providing your 3rd party test results ; transparently removes all bias, making it straight forward to identify the appropriate light for ones needs.
So true! People need to be able to get the best value for whatever their budget is. And Amazon has some good products on there. We just need some solid specs so we can make informed choices!
I didn't have a great time with my hlg 550 v1. It just did okay. Going much less expensive this time with two xs1500s in a 2.5x5 expandable grow space. If I get more plants, I'll get more xs1500s. Can go up to 5x5. More expensive isn't always better. Technological advances are better. And waiting for the budget models of those technological advances is wallet-friendly.
such a great review explaining in detail exactly the scenario to buy each lights! I especially liked the charts for comparison in value compared to light output.
The last video you made about LED's I said I loved your video and wasen't even looking for LED light, today I am looking for a LED and still loved the old one and now the new one. The kit I am going for has a SF1000 in it so this video was quite perfect to watch now :D
I purchased a ViparSpectra P1000 in early September (I'm in Australia). The model I received looks like an updated version of the P1000 you have pictured, with 350 LEDS total and possibly 2 less IR LEDS vs 300 LEDS in the older model. No idea what impact that would have on the numbers. Love your work!
I used these videos to weigh my options, thanks! I just bought a xs2000 for my 4x2. Hopefully my maratomatoes love it. I do like the idea of a removable board though. Maybe when I upgrade next time it will be more common in the market.

Once again great video! I have been running spider Farmers for a lil while now and considered changing. But with the info that you provided I will continue to since I am a year-round grower. Thanks for the help👊
I purchased the SF1000 LED light from Spider Farmer in May, after considering a lot of information, especially your earlier article on 100 Watt grow lights. I received a 270 light panel with a manual that referred LM301D diodes. I contacted Spider Farmer and they replaced my order with the 270 diode substitute which has the D diodes installed on the board. From what I understand during our multi e-mail conversation was that they ran out of LM301B diodes and started to fill orders with the upgraded , "D" diode panels. I am mentioning this because you received a SF1000 panel from Spider Farmer with 270 diodes in your video.
Ive had a little 100w maxisun for a while now and I can say ,for the price even now, that I'm beyond happy with it. I started with a marz hydro tsw2000 in a 4x4. It was ok but since I added the maxisun. For a total of 400wats. Ive had much better harvests.
Thank you so much.. very good video and very informative. :) I also want to thank all companies here participating or that have decided to go in the direction of honest or/and accurate advertising.
We are just legal in Virginia, so I've been studying how to grow (for my personal use only - seriously) so I don't want to throw down $1,000+ for a grow light. Your videos really made me make a decision. Before your videos I had a headache trying to decipher which light to get. Thanks!!
Apogee is now making 2several model ppfd meters that use the "e-par" scale, which includes light to760nm, measuring the far red LEDs included in the newer lights. I have a dozen or so mixed ViparSpectra XS1000 and XS2000 models. I just bought a couple more, and can't speak highly enough of them. Even had a new defective one a year or so ago that was replaced no questions asked in a matter of days. Thanks for the thorough reviews, makes me feel better that I'm not missing out on something a lot better. I'd be surprised to find anything a whole lot better however, as my results have been fantastic. The multiple small lights let me adjust them individually (I use an Apogee MQ620 e-par meter) as the plants grow. you can adjust position, height and intensity to get the entire area to the desirable levels and DLI for each plant.
honestly thanks so much for this, went down a rabbit hole of led today, was going to go with the sf1000 but then i saw on their newest version that theyre not even using a meanwell driver but their own brand, what do you think of this? also do you think theyre using fake diodes as well? that picture you put up sure looks like it
Hi, I am a new urban gardener with a patio that faces northeast in Orlando, FL. I am planning on building a concept of your awesome SIP raised garden bed that will fit my patio to begin my gardening journey! Since I face northeast I am pretty sure hanging some LED lights above my plants will give them the best opportunity to grow. Do you still recommend the P1000 in this kind of set up? I can’t remember if you mentioned it is waterproof or not. I truly appreciate all your work and the information you put out!
I'm just starting on hydroponics as our food sources aren't safe (recent recalls on lettuce for listeria!!). My budget is limited but still rather pay for quality than replace something after a few months. Your reviews of the lights is a tremendous help and greatly appreciated.
Hi and thanks for a great vid. Any thoughts on making a light? I’m also in Europe and we don’t seem to be as well serviced as you in the US/CND. if I import it doubles the price.
Samsung new horticulture led is on the way , so the remaining stock is being aggressively priced . Before the new more efficient leds arrive for purchase in a light. 3.17 umol/j. Vs lm301b. 2.5
Hi This video was so informative, thank you I wanted to get the viparspectra p1000 but not sure if it works with 240v without blowing up I am not in the USA,so i was kinda worried. Would it work if connected to 240v socket? Thank you.
Great video! I recently got a nasty surprise when I ordered a second Viparspectra XS1000. The one I ordered in October last year was great, the same as in this video. When I received my new lamp I couldn't believe my eyes because it was completely different. Less powerful driver, less wattage (100 instead of 120 watts) and a dimmer that wasn't freely adjustable anymore. Also the build quilty felt much less refined, would even call it cheap. Unbelievable how they can produce something so vastly inferiour to the previouw version of the same model. Watch out which version you buy online!
it would be nice to see a comparison between old and new panels, i have some 7 year old 400w viparspect panels with 5w diodes, and they still perform to perfection but they seem quite power costly compared to the new ones, back then i paid like 100$ for such a panel- i also have one of the green mars hydros with 3w diodes and it is still working 240w but comparing old used panels to brand new ones wouldn´t be a fair comparrison i think.
For a beginner I went with a p1000 for my 2x2 tent and was surprised I had to go buy a second p1000 and now I have 2 p1000s in a 4x4 . Been having them some 2021 these p1000s are so underrated if you get them for the right price..
Love your videos!!! I have only a question... A Hydra 1000 will be good for a 80x80cm(2.5x2.5?) for veg and flowering 4 plants of mari-tomatoes? (lol) From europe, only i can get at reasonable price are the Hydra 1000 (direct from Amazon US) or the Hydro Mars TS1000 (direct from their UE web), wich one you think should buy? Thank you and keep working.
Although the Hydra is more efficient, it is not as bright as the TS1000. In a 2.66' x 2.66' grow tent with 4 plants, the TS1000 would give a higher yield and would provide more even coverage. It would draw 30 extra watts though and would generate more heat. So you should factor in your operating costs. For maximum efficiency go with the Hydra. For the highest yield, go for the TS1000.
Thank you for the update, is this still your recommendation for a grow light for starting seeds in spring as well as growing tomatoes in winter? It would be in a kitchen living space area on wire shelves.
😉 Thank you so so much for this. Wish I watched it when it came out, it would've saved me from buying some very cheaply made but expensive lights. I bought the Monios-L 60W and yes 60W is way too dim. For just 20 USD more I could have gotten much better lights.
Viparsprectra xs have excellent build quality and an excellent light however they use older spec led 289b I think, so use a little more power but don't get as hot as a Mars hydro. Not sure if viparsprectra have updated their leds since purchasing mine.
Have you compared the latest Spider Farmer versions with the older ones? (They didn't change the model numbers.) The new ones seem to do the same thing as Atreum, putting more LEDs close the edges, rather than equal density over the whole area.
What’s the most recommend light for growing hot peppers such as habaneros and ghost peppers also cactus indoors from seedlings for the winter months or until a certain maturity so I don’t have to worry about the sun burning the seedlings

Great video! It taught me a few things. I already have a ViparSpectra and for the money you can't beat it.
hi, how do you like the viparspetra now? i am deciding to get one soon
Some of the best vids I've seen on the tubes. Thanks man!
You made all of these stats sound so much easier to understand. Wish I had a chemistry teach that explained things like you
I love my Viparspectra P series lights and recommend them to everyone.
Thank you so much for this video. This is just what I have been looking for. Solid information. YOU ARE THE BEST!
such a great review explaining in detail exactly the scenario to buy each lights! I especially liked the charts for comparison in value compared to light output.
Thanks so much for your feedback. I'm glad the charts are able to help out! :)
god bless you man...this need to be turned to a series and updates every 2 years hahah
As always great content and honest reviews, love the mari-tomato pun, please stay safe and keep the videos coming
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching. :)
Transparency. Great business ethics! 👌🏻
Well done friend, you did a very good job, thank you from Greece, Athens, greetings, we are new and very far back in the led.
Thanks for taking your time to made this video. I learn a lot from you.
The last video you made about LED's I said I loved your video and wasen't even looking for LED light, today I am looking for a LED and still loved the old one and now the new one. The kit I am going for has a SF1000 in it so this video was quite perfect to watch now :D
As always your reports are so helpful!!
Love your work!
hi, how do you like the viparspectra now? i want to buy it soon
Are you planning to do another comparison video for 2024?
Thanks for all the work you put in!
I used these videos to weigh my options, thanks! I just bought a xs2000 for my 4x2. Hopefully my maratomatoes love it. I do like the idea of a removable board though. Maybe when I upgrade next time it will be more common in the market.
Thanks for watching! I'm glad the info can help out. :)
Excellent work , the atrium hydro is the way to go. Best of the bunch . I’m gonna buy one thanks
Awesome!! Reminds me of Ralph Nader, always liked him, so thank you!
Based on your tuto i ordered the pb 1000 pro thank you so much cause its a jungle out there and your teck skills brighten my desicion 😅
Glad I could help! I hope you get great results. :-D
@@Albopepper Thank you and btw your Tutos are great and much appricated i went thrue a lots of you tubers and yours are clearly outstanding clear and precise the whatch Dog aproach is benefecial for everybody including the industry ...im starting out growing rare or endangered trees and learning and watching hundreds of tutorials to master the biology spectrum of these living creatures...a kind of mission and its fascinating i just love it...
and will grow lettuce and tomatoes also 😊
so please continue your great work my name is Robert 👍
thank you 🇨🇦
after seeing your video i bought a Viparspectra P1000. it was my first modern setup and i wasnt sure what anything meant at first. thank you for clarifying. there is alot of marketing garbage.
Did you mention that the xs 1000 comes with a meanwell 150 watt driver , vs the others 100 watt drivers .
Can I use these lights to grow canna-beans? My last Mari-Tomatoes yeild wasn't as impressive as I thought it would be
Obama say "YES YOU CAN"
For Sure, Grande Budlets from a $65 led..
Once again great video! I have been running spider Farmers for a lil while now and considered changing. But with the info that you provided I will continue to since I am a year-round grower. Thanks for the help👊
I'm glad the info has help out! Thanks so much for watching. :-D
dude, there are many great led grow light in this world, you just need to find them.
I also want to thank all companies here participating or that have decided to go in the direction of honest or/and accurate advertising.
Thanks so much Paul! Yes, I agree that we should commend the companies that are striving to be honest and transparent with their product specs!
We are just legal in Virginia, so I've been studying how to grow (for my personal use only - seriously) so I don't want to throw down $1,000+ for a grow light. Your videos really made me make a decision. Before your videos I had a headache trying to decipher which light to get. Thanks!!
What yu decided
Again a amazing in-depth video and follow-up, thanks for the quality work!
The multiple small lights let me adjust them individually (I use an Apogee MQ620 e-par meter) as the plants grow. you can adjust position, height and intensity to get the entire area to the desirable levels and DLI for each plant.
honestly thanks so much for this, went down a rabbit hole of led today, was going to go with the sf1000 but then i saw on their newest version that theyre not even using a meanwell driver but their own brand, what do you think of this? also do you think theyre using fake diodes as well? that picture you put up sure looks like it
Thank you so very much for all your hard work!!!
This was EXCELLENT INFORMATION
🤜🌟🤛🌾🌾🌾
Thanks for watching Kelly! :D
Your reviews of the lights is a tremendous help and greatly appreciated.
thank you for helping an old man out-----great info
Thanks just purchased hydra 1000 for my 2x2 veg tent
That tash deserves a life and a video of its own !!
Vs lm301b. 2.5
Hi
This video was so informative, thank you
I wanted to get the viparspectra p1000 but not sure if it works with 240v without blowing up
I am not in the USA,so i was kinda worried.
Would it work if connected to 240v socket?
Thank you.
Thanks for watching Ida! The PB1000 Pro states: *Input AC100-240V.* So I would expect it to function at 240V.
Also got the 100 watt one, while the website advertised it as being 120 watt. I got mine in last Wednesday.
it would be nice to see a comparison between old and new panels, i have some 7 year old 400w viparspect panels with 5w diodes, and they still perform to perfection but they seem quite power costly compared to the new ones, back then i paid like 100$ for such a panel- i also have one of the green mars hydros with 3w diodes and it is still working 240w but comparing old used panels to brand new ones wouldn´t be a fair comparrison i think.
Great video.
Interested in seeing more viparspectra models
Thank you for the video. For an indoor tree. Is there a benefit to mounting the light vertically? Say a 4 x 2 instead of overhead?
Have there been any significant changes in the market since this video was posted? Anything remarkable?
Thanks again for your reviews, they help out alot.
Thanks again bro!! Keeping them real. An someone should!!
Thanks Lance!
For a beginner I went with a p1000 for my 2x2 tent and was surprised I had to go buy a second p1000 and now I have 2 p1000s in a 4x4 . Been having them some 2021 these p1000s are so underrated if you get them for the right price..
Good to know! Thanks for sharing your experience. 😀
Duuude this helped me so much. If any more info pops up keep us updated. I've been interested in Viparspectra
Can you do a review on the parfactworks Par1200 pro ?
Love the information and you non bias stand. Would you be able to do a video on the bigger lights from the same brands as you’ve done here?
Love your videos!!!
I have only a question... A Hydra 1000 will be good for a 80x80cm(2.5x2.5?) for veg and flowering 4 plants of mari-tomatoes? (lol)
From europe, only i can get at reasonable price are the Hydra 1000 (direct from Amazon US) or the Hydro Mars TS1000 (direct from their UE web), wich one you think should buy?
Thank you and keep working.
Although the Hydra is more efficient, it is not as bright as the TS1000. In a 2.66' x 2.66' grow tent with 4 plants, the TS1000 would give a higher yield and would provide more even coverage. It would draw 30 extra watts though and would generate more heat. So you should factor in your operating costs. For maximum efficiency go with the Hydra. For the highest yield, go for the TS1000.
@@Albopepper Thank you a lot, you give me a good advice to make the desition. Thanks a lot. Keep working.
Hey im curious to see how the ac infinity lights stack up.mainly the ones for a 4x4 grow tent.could you elaborate on that?
Thank you for the update, is this still your recommendation for a grow light for starting seeds in spring as well as growing tomatoes in winter? It would be in a kitchen living space area on wire shelves.
Very helpful! Is this still up-to-date or are there newer versions in 2023?
This might have been mentioned and isn't really important, but i think you mean 'logarithmic' instead of 'algorithmic' at 9:03
Thanks, I used the manufacturer's terminology.
I just purchased the vipraspectra xs1500 pro new gen version 💯🔥🔥🇬🇧
Wow. Just WOW! Thank you.
Thanks for watching João! I appreciate your support. :)
Thank you sir for all your research you did for this video! I love the science behind lights and this was very interesting and informative !
Got a maxsisun pb1500 (150W) for $65 from Amazon
Nice! :D
ohhh that is a great deal i have the same!, and the best part is, is bigger than most 100w 150w lights so it covers more area!!!!!! its really niceee
Awsome bro, really thank u for this information. Bless up!
What’s the most recommend light for growing hot peppers such as habaneros and ghost peppers also cactus indoors from seedlings for the winter months or until a certain maturity so I don’t have to worry about the sun burning the seedlings
