Hi Ryan, great channel! I just wanted to point out that Fogerty plays this song (and many others from the CCR catalogue) with a guitar tuned a whole step down. So the chord shapes he actually plays are E B7 A. My favourite in this tuning is Midnight Special. Cheers.

huh - neat info fred - I don't pretend to know much about this level of nuts and bolts for CCR (pearl jam is that band for me) but if you watch this music video (not, obviously, that he was actually playing the song in the video) his guitar is clearly in standard tuning - based on the shapes he's playing. I'm only speaking about that one instance mind you, I cannot speak to the other 8 thousand times they've played this song of course.

@@RyanLendt Oh? Could you point me to the video you're referring to? I'm not saying it's impossible that he might at one point have played it your way but even in the original music video you can clearly see John playing E B7 A on his Les Paul Black Beauty, which has been tuned that way for over 55 years now! However, his brother is seen playing your way in the video :)

Thanks Ryan! Those simple solos still take work to master, don’t they? My classic example of that is Zeppelin’s “Celebration Day”.
You actually pronounced my last name correctly, too! Bonus points! 😂
