I hope you do a part 2 on this soon. It would be amazing to see this thing get washed and the inside cleaned. Throw some $100 fb marketplace wheels on there and you've got a cheap, reliable, good looking and practical daily.
Fyi you should never have to touch the gas on fuel injected vehicles while starting, some will actually put the car in fuel cut off if the pedal is fully pressed. I'm sure you probably already knew that but maybe not.
This was my first car, 1999 white civic 2 door ex. Loved it. Florida car with 160k miles on it. Burned a crap ton of oil and head gasket was blown. Kept water jugs and oil in the trunk, but it got me all around Florida. Paid $1200 for it at age 18, I’m 24 now. Miss that car tons.
I Just got a 1994 honda civic with a smashed front runs and drives still all cars should be built like these hondas simple reliable easy to fix and rebuild and last along time.
I just bought a civic just like yours at Copart. It's on my channel, and I agree, it's a vehicle I don't need. I changed the wires and plugs and it fixed my misfire. I previously bought an auction 98 civic 8 years ago that had a bad head gasket, but I had more localized cylinder misfire codes.
Had an 03 that had a bad head gasket (common problem on the D17s). Never misfired, but it had an intermittent overheating issue that would always pop up if I parked it on an incline.
Which was at about the 10-11min mark, where it first spurt up on starting fluid. Just because you can hear the relay (which he did), doesn't mean the pump is pumping.
dont! That car is undriveable and it will never pass technical inspection. Not to mention that it will brake down after few meters. That belongs to junk yard nothign on that car is good

I’m having a similar problem, car will never start without starter fluid but once it’s started it can idle for hours, cut it off & cut it back on within 5 mins starts fine but do it within 10 mins it won’t start.. fuel pump???? Yes I changed the fuel filter & injectors & fuel pump but that was years ago off eBay.. Anyone pls help🥲
EFi main relay goes bad on those which will kill power to the fuel pump. Distributor shaft bearings also common on those which will cause lack of spark , inside of distributor cap will often be full of rust powder if so
It already runs fine. Hondas are very sensitive to timing being off, if it's out by even a single tooth, it'll throw codes. I already checked all the injectors. They might have varnish buildup, but they all click just fine. And if compression is low, it's evenly low. There's no abnormal exhaust pulses or sounds when cranking. If one cylinder is low, you'll hear it.
Smells like one too. But it's also par for the course for these revival vehicles that sat in fields or whatever for years (I suspect this car sat since 2014 or 2015) to fill with mold. I've bought and flipped other cars that did the same without flood damage.
Craigslist: Runs and drives like new
All the car needed is a battery, fuel pump and a wash. It’s a go
Needs a lot more routine maintenance. Definitely the timing belt as insurance.
”all 5 of you watching" 😂😂😂. The power of Honda, not to drive but generate views

People talked so much crap on Civics in the 90's and 2000's. Now they are collectibles. LOL!

Some hondas like it when you hit the gas
Thats more of a drive by wire thing, if you have a manual throttle it will work the same as a carb.
This should check this following
Ignition
Timing
Air
Fuel
Spark
Compression

I swear that thing looks like it was sitting underwater. 😁
guy drove in the ocean for a couple months
It only starts on starting fluid, so I assume there’s a fuel issue
Lol I got that same Pittsburg tool set. Use it on every car I work on. Crazy how useful that thing is

@@SkylineFTW97 Very common for a D17 to have head gasket issues, especially 2001-03.
its a honda, of course it will start
After the tenth billionth time of you cranking it I can tell it’s a fuel pump issue but let’s keep cranking expecting a different result

Nope. Had over half a tank. The sending unit doesn't work, but I verified how much was in there when I replaced the pump.
Maybe the timing is out of place and maybe the feul injectors aren't injecting, also try checking the compression
