You can't understand these poems until you read whole poetry. In Shikwa Allama Iqbal complaint about failure of Muslims nowadays and in Jawab e Shikwa he told the reason of failure, as our ancestors were hardworking, contributed a lot in science and different things. So in Shikwa he was complaining and in Jwab e Shikwa he told the real reason of failure, as we all know the reason of failure.

For context on poetry, the second part is not from Iqbal's poetry. The actual Jawab that Iqbal has written is incredible, even better written than the Shikwa part if I may say. It's directed at Muslims and almost insults/ tells them off rather than comforting. Really interesting poetry

Shikwa means complaint. Allama Iqbal complaints about the poor position of muslims in this world and asks god why he isn't doing anything. And Jawab e shikwa (Answer) tells the arguments of God against these complaints. This is deep and contextual

this is basically a conversation sort of between human and his creator. Human has alot of questions and then his creator answers.
He did not change any lines, he wrote another poem 'Taranay e Milli'. The poem you talked about is 'Taranay e hindi', a different poem.

Jab koi banda apne Khuda ko hi challenge kare ya usse shikayat kare toh kufr kehlayega but little do they know, Allama Iqbal Was something else, phir jab Jawab e Shikhwa likha toh Allah ka Jawab hai uske bando ko jo Allama Iqbal ke Kalam se hum tak pochcha, jismein khuda keh raha hai kyun Pareshan ho raha hai bande kya tera mudda hai, humne toh dene ka wada kiya hai or phir Or bhi Jawab shamil hai Jawab e Shikwa Nichodh ye do line hi hain Ki Muhammed se Wafa tune Toh hum tere hain Ye jahan cheez hai kya Loh o Qalam tere hain, Yani Muhammed ﷺ se wafa karne wale jo chahein takdeer mein likhte hain. Or ye Makam Wali Allah ka hai.

He had his views on independence of India but also had opinions regarding his Hindu religion. So, they are not mutually exclusive. Being a Muslim, I discuss his (Mr. Gandhi) political views and usually don't discuss his religious views.

The basic message of this poetry is that nowadays younger generation of Muslims complain why we are suffering today. In reply God says that you are not as committed and sincere in pursuit of truth as were ur ancestors. Reference of Hatim . He was famous in Arabia for being extremely generous.
this compostion and this style is originally composed by the father of Abu Muhammad and Farid Ayaz (the qawwal group) . The great, Munshi riyazuddin Qawwal qawwal and it is complete Shikwa Jawab e Shikwa is about 36 minutes.

Farid Ayaz are good in other qawwalis butthis version is not upto mark because they have tried to mix other poetries in it and it become normal.

@@unplugged_ananya Yes the original poems are Magnum Opus of Iqbal. Probably one of the greatest verses ever written. This is just a pretense. They even added their own words. How disgraceful. They have hardly used a couple of couplets from the original and dared to call it Shikwa/ Jawab e Shikwa. Do you know only one single line from the original Jawab e Shikwa has been used in this production. Rest are their their own concoctions

because what thing iqbal mentioned were not present but distant past at that time too
and such a long part about being 'mayoos' is because all these question have basis in that feeling and a real Muslim should not feel like this as this feeling was called equilent to being a nonmuslim

Yeah... energy in the first part was matchless... But the composure of the 2nd part was also great... though these lines were not by Iqbal...
Since the 2nd part was not exactly Jawab e Shikwa, it couldn't have the same energy or the same level that you were talking about because, i feel, it was more like a qawali and obviously by a different poet... But still I feel the fusion was very smooth and calming... Also I suggest you should read Shikwa & Jawab e shikwa... Line by line with proper meaning... You would surely love it...

They literally destroyed Iqbal's poetry by adding their own lines. You should read original Shikwa/Jawab-e-Shikwa.

sister this video is not on full version of shikwa jwab e shikwa and have some mistakes too. I've read full book so I want you to read full book's translation ,it is easily available on google . Basically an ordinary Muslim addresses Allah in shikwa that I'm suffering although I did everything for u, he talks about his trials and in jwab e shikwa, Iqbal writes a reply from God that u did nothing for me, it were ur ancestors, true Muslims, you are not good Muslim anymore but you can achieve ur lost status if you truly know ur place and love PBUH, this whole book is very interesting

You should listen to shikwa and jawab e shikwa by Amjad Sabri and Naeem Abbas. It's longer than this but it's definitely worth it
If you're interested in whole shikwa jawab shikwa its best sung by NFK , with whole question and answer.. here they just picked few verses which doesn't provide context

The Qawali part is mostly not from Allama Iqbal and has only few verses from him.

It's said that, you are the product of your time. That was a time of struggle, two back to back world wars, British were squeezing evey last drop of resource for the war effort, using "divide & conquer" strategy, and much more. This resulted in unrest in the indian society. This is when Iqbal adopted"esprit de corps" ideology. This shift is clearly reflected in the latter part of his career.

Shikwa was written by Allama Iqbal in 1909 I think, and Jawab-e Shikwa was written in 1913. So you've listened only 2,2 lines of each part. So you can not understand the context of the poetry.

Allama Muhammad iqbal Rehmatullah Aleh was an amazing so great legend great poet, scholer politition, First Iqbal wrote shikwa with Almighty Allah.. then Iqbal wrote Jawab shikwa as like answer to the human in responce of shikwa, outclass poetry as like answer from the Allah... But the singers would sing the original pure lines of Iqbal's jawab e shikwa. And these are few lines but the whole poetry of shikwa and jawab e shikwa is very long and outclass must read it thoroughly.
Everyone knows that Iqbal wrote lyrics of Sare Jaha se Achha, but very few know that Pt. Ravishankar composed the popular original tune of Sare Jaha se Achha ( today's time) in the 1940s, which we still use today. 😅😅 Pt. Ravishankar doesn't get enough credit for his great musical compositions like Sare Jaha se Achha. I appreciate you mentioned about Tarana-e-Milli because very few pakistani people know about that. Tarana-e-mill is nothing but radical political ideology of Khilafat. ( global Ummah)

Originally Iqbal wrote this as a conversation between a Muslim Human and ALLAH.. in first part, Muslim Human is complaining and then Allah answered in 2nd part

It is something above your understanding, just listing to 15 minutes of shikwa and jawab and then arriving to a conclusion is not something you can. To understand the shikwa and jawab e shikwa you must know whole circumstances and background, then you might get to the conclusion. And secondly this is not full shikwa and jawab e shikwa

You tried and we appreciate that. But even urdu speaking ppls such as myself can't understand what he wrote. Its not even the 2% of shikwa/jawabeshikwa. Dr Allama Md Iqbal was a genius. He wrote Shikwa as a complain to Almighty from a Servant( the islamic scholars from that time even gave a fatwah that ALLAMA IQBAL is KAFIR cuz he's unthankful and complaining to Almighty) but than he wrote Jawab e Shikwa. An answer and a return complain from Almighty to his Creation and Jawabeshikwa is A Masterpiece. i had to research it for almost a year running for explanation round & round asking every damn teacher, scholar and Urdu literature Master. And believe me i still can't explain properly what he wrote. As a Muslim we got the Message but the meaning of this Poem is still a mystery.

Islam main Yasiyat nahi he. Pasand nahi kia gya. Isi lyr dua ka kaha gya eo bhi Allah se. This poetry is exteacted from the events where Muslim gained rise and power when they were less and had less resources.
Later, when muslims became kings and monarchs and lived a luxurious life, their downfall started.
This is just a fraction of the original, the orignal Shikwa and Jawab e Shikwa is very very long. 80% is omitted from this.

@ananya dwivedi..if you doesn't know the meaning of lyrics you always feel bore...my suggestion is for you, first understand the meaning of lyrics then listen it, i am pretty sure, you will not feel bore during it songs, bcz complete shikwa and jawabe e shikwa is very big like more than 30 min..and don't feel bore while listen it.

Poetry was for downfall of Muslims of Subcontinent.
That muslims want best from Allah without doing any action. That Allah is not Helping muslims.
Jawab-shiqwa is answer of God To muslims.
That their downfall is their own reason. They are not following the path of Prophet Muhammad ( PBUH) and want to achieve what their ancestors achieved.
