    If anyone is interested I would recommend taking lantanas in for the winter, give them a sunny spot in the house, maybe cut them back a bit if necessary and they will survive, even bloom during the winter!
    and they’ll be waaayyy bigger and more impressive next year.
    In ecuador they become large bushes and can be amazingly covered with flowers!
    I had no idea but my mother did it with her little lantana last year and it’s a beautiful monster this year. I had never seen one so big!
    They’ll lose some leaves over the winter and not be super attractive, but they’ll bounce back in the spring!

    • @gardenanswer
      @gardenanswer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I might have to try overwintering them again. I’ve tried a few times without much success, but maybe with the help of an additional grow light I’ll have better luck! 🤞

    • @PatriciaAShelton-no6cq
      @PatriciaAShelton-no6cq ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there's actually two types of Lantana. One is an annual, the other an older version of a hardy perrenial. My brother has one of the older type. It is huge,with a dark orange flower with a yellow center. He thins it out every year and started him a drift alongside the edge of his side yard where a tree lined wooded area starts. It's just beautiful. He keeps the wooded area cleaned of under brush, thinned out the trees and grows azaleas, sweet shrubs, an other shade loving plants. He's had great success in growing white dogwoods mixed in,and wild azaleas we call honeysuckle trees. For they have the shape of a honeysuckle and the smell is so sweet. He thought about some kind of ground cover,but decided that so many wild vines an other things that would pop up would be hard to remove,and be a constant battle trying to keep out under growth. Good thinking.

    I love the overhead drone shots, there is something so wonderful about seeing your beautiful garden from that view. I see the Oaks are gone, yay! I was so excited to hear you say your parents just got in fall plants! I only live 3 hours north of you and I’m meeting my sisters in Boise tomorrow, so I’m planning on visiting Andrews Seed Co!!
    After discovering your videos, especially the 4 part series with the blue house, I was brave enough to put drip line in my back yard this summer and it has been a life changer!
    Also, there was only grass in my front yard, so I took out a tooon of grass and put in gardens. I’m not quite done with the left side, and I really can’t afford any more plants, but I would love to say some of my plants are from your family’s store, so we’ll see if there’s something I can’t leave without!

    Need to take care of my fountain grass now!! Thank you. Our potato vines are still looking good. We have the dark (almost eggplant colored) ones so they do translate well in to autumn. Easy to propagate as well. 👍🌱

    Your so lucky to have a family nursery. In Utah Wal-Mart is about the only place to find fall garden plants.
