I'm retreiving the absolute max density by using "Gas Reduce"-Node + "Modify Data"-Node and use this value to control the smoke turbulence (via control field).
Hi Simon! Great tutorial ! about Geometry spreadsheet: you need turn off all attributes and turn on only desired attribute and then it will be arranging by max\min much proper. And second observation: when you had been getting max value from Dopimportfield and added Volumeslice you could turn on a switcher on Dopimportfile ->Compute Min\Max value and get the values instantly. By default it is off. Sorry if I look like nerdy))
Oh, I haven't heard about dropping attributes directly from the spreadsheet. I have a strong feeling that that's gonna save me a couple of headaches at some point. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
Hey Simon, thanks for the very useful video ! Kinda late now, so you probably figured it out but about 14:22 it's just one of houdini display issues, you just have to sort another attribute (like Cd, whatever) and sort again your density, it will be correclty sorted. :)
Thank you for a very good tutorial! So what is the Binding tab in the Turbulence? Isn't that also controlling the amount, like the Control tab? What is the difference between those? Thank you!
I thought the control field remapping normalizes the density mapping ( if you see inside Gas Turbulence node there is a fit range node inside "if control field") so one doesn't need to feed in min and max values ?

oh thank you! awesome tips!
@@HoudiniSimon Sorry, I don't understand why use modify data? Why not use max directly? And it (gas reduce) reflects the maximum in real time.

Where was this video all those years when I needed it? Oh, it's only here for a few months...I see. Thanks, Simon! Super helpful!
Intersting workflow, Thanks Simon

Need to check this. Thanks for the hint!
very helpful! thanks! one question about the gas reduce, its used just to output data from the sim but has no other effect on the actual sim?
Hi why do you use modify data ?
