    Nice video
I disassemble one of my lux 1025 and disassembled the entire motor ,
It really had a stink to it,
I put the whole motor and top through the dishwasher 2 x.
It really made a difference , smelled better and cleaned the parts that were over 30 years old 👌

Thanks for the vid. It surprises me how often teardowns don't end up with a quick demo of the reassembled item.

I was vacuuming up some 'dust' around my water heater that turned out to be water instead. My C3 sucked up a fair amount before I could shut it down. Had to put my attention to replacing the water heater before I flooded the downstairs folk and so my vac sat for a couple of days before I could attend to it. When I broke it down the motor was wrecked! So much 'glop' inside the motor coils, brushes... everywhere. It had already corroded as well. Anyway... long story short.... I got it fired back up and it is humming. But the main comment I wanted to make is that the thin silver 'flywheel' or whatever it is was difficult to remove. First, I tried holding it with a thick, folded towel but I could tell one slip and it would be a deep cut. I did not have the pulley tool used on here so I tried an old belt, but that didn't work either. Then I took an electric cord, wrapped that around the flywheel and used a vice grip to tighten it and hold in place and that worked like a charm.... and I still have all my fingers.

Miele motors are by far my favorites to take apart. I've changed a few sets of bearings, and I don't remember them all being glued in, maybe 2 out of 5.

Great vid this. Just wanted to confirm it’s ok to wash the armature etc with soapy water. That’s what I understood and so long as it’s dried properly I don’t see any reason why not but would love confirmation.

Same motor is also in larger Miele models.
I just replace the carbon brushes (after 14 years) before I saw this video.
    Screw is definitely REVERSE thread.
After assembly I noticed the rotor could not freely rotate anymore.
Best is to mark the position of the bearing against the cover BEFORE you open it up as remaining glue may reside unevenly distributed. This may cause some improper alignment during assembly so that the rotor won't rotate freely.
As seen in this video it can be difficult to remove the cover once the screw has been removed.
I carefully gave some hits on the rotor shaft to crack the glue. .
Again while tightening the screws during assembly check that the rotor can freely move.

Thank you, that was clear and easy to follow apart from how you opened up the rubber lid on the motor bearing. However, a little picking with a needle and that rubber lid came off. Mine had a plastic bearing holder spacing out the balls. No sign of grease in there so added bicycle grease and put it all back together. My original problem was that the motor made an unpleasant whine. I should have recorded the noise before and after but I think it is now better than it was but maybe the other bearing was also a part of the problem and also needed new grease...

I took my motor out of my S5261 car and dog. It was vibrating for some reason. Do you think it was a faulty bearing? I cannot get the sharp impeller off, as I think the thread is stripped. Guess who didn’t know it was a left hand thread…doh! Is my motor now trashed?

Soon the United States will get those 890-watt motors even though there will still be 1440 watt vacuum cleaners in the US market in the foreseeable future.
