I think Eldar are the one faction where I can excuse this because the original Jes Goodwin designs are perfection and you can't improve on perfection. The thing is sometimes all I want from a "refresh" is an updated scale and sharper detail. Recently when they have tried to completely change a model (Lemartes, sang guard, coteaz) It's been a disaster. But I guess that proves your point that they just don't have the creative chops they used to
I'll save you 9 minutes: It's a complaint about about not changing much on the design of classic models. Creativity isn't the issue here. For all GW's faults, these are fine and modernizing the scale & aesthetics of old casts while keeping their overall pose and design is exactly the right thing to do for legacy heroes. The alternative is going hog-wild with new designs and to alienate the majority of long time fans by deviating completely from established, lore relevant designs. Could there be cool things coming out of that approach? Certainly - but that's clearly not what they were going for with these updates and, at least for me, it was the right call.

All the exarchs appear to get at least 1 new option each, and all the kits come with unhelmeted heads. That and these mini's are for players like me who have been waiting since the mid 2000's for the metal mini's to get plastic kits.

What about the outcasts/rangers, kept the aesthetic but improved their look massively. The howling banshees too. The windriders. Picking on a couple when there's many better examples of them changing older minis to look better
@@RazielLordOfSecrets I dunno, I feel the Rangers and Banshees stay very close to the original design language, like the new releases do, and the windriders old models weren't that great, so warrented a more comprehensive update. My favourite new sculpts are the rescaled Terminators - not super creative, but brilliant compared to a lot of the "creative" primaris jank.

Terminators hard to compare as the armour doesn't really leave much room for posing and stay that stoic at the same tine. I don't play Eldar but I do play Krieg. For me, outside of the new Lord Marshal, I don't intend to buy any of the new Krieg models. I already have more than I need and buying newer models simply is a waste of money and effort. The 20 Death Riders I have are beautiful and so why set them aside? The artillery is of no real use to me as I have Earthshakers and a field ordinance battery with converted Krieg crew. With the nerfing of artillery in 10th edition, there's little purpose to buy more of it. The heavy weapon flamer squads are neat. I don't find myself in a position often enough to justify them for overwatch. Flamers aren't particularly hard hitting. Looks like another kit I'll pass on. The new releases for the Eldar do look nice but if I may say, that was one faction that could have had an entire refresh without offending anyone. Drucharii (Dark Eldar) were a stupid idea that demonstrated no real new ideas and was a way to keep the faction alive in an altered form. Give them enough time and you'll see Dark Mechanicum and likely even a Dark Votann. Just anything to make a buck with minimal effort in originality.

I think that another sign of lack of creativity is the fact that some kits either are mono posed or you could only assemble said models in 2 ways. GW have in some ways started to play it safe in terms of creativity, if we look at older models we can see some wacky or way out there details on them but ever since then the newer models while they are nicely sculpted just feels rather bland or just "safe".
GW will make dollars on newcomers to the hobbie...as a 40k old head, your dollar doesn't matter.
