Good info the greatest info that I have ever had was by following the Stefs Magic Numbers (i found it on google) - definately the best natural method that I have ever followed.
My biggest mistake when first starting out reading for other people was being too sensitive to the person's energy and changing my words accordingly - instead of just reading the cards. Now I know to read the cards.
Yes! I did this for a long time, too. This is one of the reasons why I prefer doing recorded/distance readings to live, in person readings. I get too distracted by their energy!
Years ago i was really trying to learn tarot. I put it to the side because i thought people would find it strange. Now that i am embracing my true self, i am once again drawn to it. I am so glad i found you! Love the advice about the experience with the card. I feel like i will have a connection with that card now. Makes so much sense! :)
Your video's are helping me so much. I really appreciate it! I like the comment about not rushing & take your time, experience & enjoy the journey. I get so excited about this i want to go fast! :) thank you!!!
When I practice my tarot I like to do a meditation or yoga to balance my energies before a reading. Than I go with the flow with what feels right. And usually when I do this my cards speak to me clearly... Sometimes I'll just sit there and ask questions and I gotta say the tarot is easy silly or very straight forward. Don't get too stuck on the meanings of the cards, go with how the cards make you feel. That's what I've learned, namaste 🙏
Trying to "memorize" is something I did start with - now I'm pulling a daily card and just seeing what it means to me by intuition. Most frustrating is understanding the intent behind cards in reverse. Thanks for sharing your insights!
I started with trying to remember the cards too - even writing out "definitions" repeatedly (like I did in school). I wrote a blog post about reversals that you might find helpful: www.daily-tarot-girl.com/2013/06/29/how-to-read-tarot-cards-reversed/ Cheers, Kate
I have been studying & applying Tarot for 48 years & you learn something all the time. Just last week, I had a dream which showed a sign in the window of a store. When I was looking at the cards, a symbol that that sign was referring to jumped out at me. I had not recognized this symbol, even after 48 years studying. This added yet another layer of understanding to the HANGED MAN symbolism witch will propel me even deeper into into it's understanding. Learning Tarot is an ongoing process.
For the past year, I've been watching video readings, subscribing to tarot channels, and visiting those channels regularly. I've compiled a subscription list of about a dozen tarot readers who seem to really resonate with me. I'm learning the meanings of the cards by watching readings - not just those readings that are focused on my personal sun, moon, and ascendant signs...but for all signs, in an attempt to learn how to interpret the cards for others (by not being so personally attached to a reading). I've learned so much via this "technique", and you, Kate, are a treasure trove of important, very valuable information. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and insight so generously with fellow travelers on the journey that is tarot.
My mistake was rushing the learning. I have since slowed down. One card a day, drawn with the intent of showing today’s opportunity. I loved your suggestion of starting a tarot journal. Very helpful.
i don’t believe it’s so much as “WRONG!!!” but like more as a general path that (also) generally wouldn’t be good for learning, or the wisest path for baby readers. but you are right! trust your intuition love!! ❤️
she never said it was wrong to learn a certain way. she's simply giving general tips that can help a majority of people who she's encountered struggle w these types of things. you're more than allowed to learn by the quote 'mistakes' she listed.
Great video! I think people start with the majors since there are only 22. And tried the memorization thing and got frustrated. Something that has helped to understand the cards (the minors specifically) is learning the elements behind the suits, the numerology behind the minors, and how they are similar and different. It really helps things click.
That's a good point, Cassandra - I can see how starting with the majors may feel less intimidating because there's only 22. I too found that understanding the elements behind the suits was helpful in really learning the four suits.
Im a total beginner with tarot, but thankfully i found your video and stopped myself from trying to memorize every card. I like to keep things written down so I´m doing my own interpretations following like the base from the card and has become so much easier to learn them this way. Also, seeing the full suit as a story really helps to see the transitions in between them. Thank you for your videos, I don't fell so discouraged now
I spent a very long time trying to memorize the cards, i even spent a whole summer a few years back joining a local study group and nothing clicked, the only thing that did click was my passion for the cards. After coming across your channel I watched your 7 tips for learning tarot. The first thing I did was do a reading for the cards to get to know them and what our relationship will be like, their personality, oh my goodness in less than an hour i have a far stronger understanding and im suddenly connecting with them on a whole new level. Like an epiphany! Im so excitec to continue on thank you for all you do!🍀🍀🍀
I will not say they are mistakes, but rather problems i faced when i started learning tarot. (1) I googled online and copied all the meanings of the cards. Some time later i read it and find that the meanings are fixed and stoic and will not fit into the many varied problems and questions faced and asked by seekers. (2) I am still trying to get people to engage my service so that i can start reading for them. This is important because the more you read for people, the better you will get. Right now i am asking questions to myself and pick a card at random to try to read it and answer the questions. It helps a little for my training.
One "handcuff" That I found in reading Tarot Is Timelines are fluid. If you lay out cards & see something in them for yourself or someone else, it is only a "snapshot" of how things are right now. We influence a future "timeline" by our reactions to it. If something dire is observed, our recognition of it could change the results..So if a client says "The reading was hogwash because things didn't happen as you said", then they probably changed their timeline & your reading wasn't incorrect.
I can connect to you so well, and through your videos with my deck and me I just feel so well and healed and refreshed as a reader after viewing your vidoes
I love when you say experience the cards I’m starting my journey I pull a card and try to do a 3 card spread every day or so to learn and understand more but I’m also studying the cards and ways they can mean and it’s easier to gain meaning to each card and connect to my deck
One major mistake I made when I was first learning was picking a starting deck that I just thought was cool rather than a deck that I really connected with. Even now that I'm more experienced, I know there are plenty of decks that I think are beautiful but that I don't really connect with, and I think that's really important to learning tarot. Find a deck that you don't just like but really can connect with and (like you said) experience the meaning and art.
Bingo! My first deck an impulse buy without any research was Impressionist Tarot although I did learn a lot about impressionist art/artists, so not a total loss. 😉
LMAO at the pole dance remark! Loved it. I just subscribed and notice a lot of stuff is pretty old here and still useful. Thanks so much for the fun! I have been holding them. I haven't done a shuffle at all. I just want to look, feel, touch and bring them into myself. I bought the Fournier Tarot de Marseille and then I got a beginner book by Barbara Moore and the set of Steampunk Tarot and book from Barbara Moore. So far, I am fearful of making errors so I am handling them to get to know them. I have not done any studying on meaning yet. I am moving slow slow for no real reason other than it feels right.
It's always great to go slowly - I feel like many people rush into learning Tarot with excitement (which is great) but moving slowly will help you attune to them more strongly and I think will make for a more rewarding and grounding practice!
A great video, summing up my learning experience from trying to memorize to realizing learning is a never-ending journey. I’m enjoying the ride much more thanks to you.
This video popped up on my recommendations and was EXACTLY what I need to hear. I've been studying tarot almost 1 year by now and I'm struggling to interpret some of the cards because sometimes is very ambiguous but I'm going to follow what you advised and feel the cards and not just automatic assume their standard meaning
I started exploring tarot at 17. Im 50 today and still learning from them. Its a lifelong journey, not something we can learn over the weekend. I always doubt someone who claims to be an expert, as I think there is no such thing. Just varying degrees of study and experience. Thanks for sharing this video with us. Cheers!🙂🇨🇦
I’m learning tarot now. I think the most difficult thing to me is when I feel like I go blank, even when reading intuitively, I just feel like I’m getting nothing. I have to sit with it for a while to get meaning and that can be frustrating. I can definitely relate to wanting to learn it fast. These were good tips.
I’m 100% new to tarot and my first impression and feeling of the emperor is a nice warm and strong man. This card tells me: he is there for me and he will always be there for me guiding and helping me through thick and thin! A very strong figure a very positive card. Thats what my experience with this card is telling me, first impression.
These tips are just what I needed to hear right now. I recently started learning the Tarot after dabbling for about 13 years, and I find myself falling into a lot of the traps that you mentioned-trying to memorize, learning the Majors first (and falling into quicksand), pushing myself to learn as fast as possible. Geez. All of your advice is relevant to me right now, but your third tip is a game changer for me-it took me about 20 seconds to think of people in my life who had a strong Emperor energy and their strengths and vices. I really need to sit down with a deck and go through it with that kind of mindset. As far as what my biggest mistake has been, I'd say it's being too dependent on books. I love books and no matter what I'm learning about I always turn to them first, but when it comes to tarot they just aren't translating for me. I find myself reading about a card and absorbing almost nothing, and then feeling irritated with myself for not getting more from what I'm reading. It's always been that way for me when it comes to tarot, but I still keep trying because learning without books goes against my learning experience with basically everything else. Thank you for posting this video! I really appreciate all the information. I think I've realized at least 5 new things tonight about my relationship with tarot. Also, thank you for the resources and for mentioning in the description the deck name of the card you showed-I'll definitely check out your website (already bookmarked!) and I was going to ask you what version of the Waite-Smith you had until I saw that you listed it. I know I've heard of the Universal Waite many times, but I never realized how pretty the coloring of the deck is.
Hi Nicole! I'm so, so happy that my video was helpful for you :) Thank you for letting me know. I hope you find my website helpful, too! I hear you on the book thing - I too tend to buy a whole bunch of books on whatever topic I'm interested in. Tarot books can be helpful but you just need to balance out that book learning with experience based learning. I know sometimes people gravitate toward book learning because it feels safe and familiar, but don't be afraid to just dive into your Tarot cards and experience them! Cheers, Kate
Just found this video. I think my biggest mistake was not reading cards in relation to proximity to other cards and how they could be telling on each other. Thanks for this video!
In the beginning, one of the tarot cards I struggled with a lot was the Hanged Man, but in my second 3 card reading, which I was doing for a friend, it spoke to me clearer than any card in any reading I had done yet, and it was reversed of all things. Still struggling with the wands
First time I've ever heard pole dancing and construction in the same sentence!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 .... awesome video!! Thank you for making me think of tarot in that way, thanks for your time and knowledge!! 😃❤️💪
Omg! This is exactly what I needed to hear. I got my first deck, Rider-Waite, not too long ago. I also bought a few books to learn it. I have been trying to do a card a day and memorize the cards and at the same time feel into them. It hasn't felt right and I have been putting it off doing it each day because I have been nervous to approach it. Something in me just told me to actually start doing readings for myself and seeing how what I pull resonates with me. It's weird - the Emperor is the card that I have sitting out right now to look at/familiarize myself with. Thanks for this!!❤️✨
you have a point when it comes to memorization! That's what I was trying to do in the beginning. Speed read/speed remember but that limited my intuition and It didn't allow me to "think outside the box"! Sometimes I catch myself using keywords I've remembered but push myself to see more. I love your videos. Thank you!
So I know this isn’t the newest video but recently I finally got my first deck and my first assumption or response to having the deck was worry. I was/still worried that there’s a certain meaning of each card and if my intuition is wrong I feel like I’m not doing it right then look at my guide books to help me. But recently I’ve been more open minded reading them by intuition as well as relating to the imagery. I’ve had issues connecting with a few of my cards but normally I can pick up on the meaning or keywords
That's great you got your first deck - congrats! I think what you're feeling is very, very common and that's wonderful that you've been able to let go a little and tune into your intuition more :) Best of luck to you on your Tarot journey ♥
The most frustrating thing for me is trying to trust my intuition, because every other time I trust my intuition I end up doing something wrong or get in trouble. I also have a hard time with the emotion aspect because I’m noticing more that I don’t like to feel things so that when it’s possible I just don’t. There’s a lot of work that has to be done with myself but I’m trying to stay positive.
What helps me is listening to your vids and Carrie Mallon, who I found in your channels list. I'm getting a big picture before I delivered into the destails. I also pic a card a day and look at it with my husband. It's so fun to use my imagination and intuition again.
Energy sensitivity and major arcana started this done both mistakes and it took me 7 years to get restarted n here I am thanks God I got this video. Plus it's synchronized with my online tutor instructor to start with one set at a time and it should be just like gap to start another suite. Thanks 🌹❤
Thank you. The emperor explanation really helped put things together for me. I’m just starting out with tarot. I have the Tattoo Tarot Ink & intuition deck and I love the cards. I want to also get an original deck to see if I feel the same about the same card from each deck. But the cards I really would love to get once i feel a little bit better about reading the cards are the Ciro Marchetti decks. The artwork is spectacular.
This video was really enlightening, and takes some pressure off understanding these cards. I have no ambition of reading cards for other people outside of friends, but do want to use them for personal transformation. What you have said carries a lot of wisdom which I will wholeheartedly embrace. I am a beginner, and after frustration in the past -- this time I'm pulling one card for the day and meditate on it and also look up the published meaning. It's been very rewarding for me to do this, and helps me reflect on my life.
I also taught to keep a journal of major readings so you can refer to them in the future to see how you could have tweaked the reading if you missed something.
This was sooooo helpful. I’ve been starting off learning the major arcana and I’ve been so frustrated because of how complex the meanings are. This was awesome!
Starting with the Major Arcana and getting bogged down with Kabbalah correspondences was my biggest mistake. I did so much better in my early Tarot journey when I focused on the Minor Arcana. ❤️
Hi! Thanks for the great tips! I've always been fascinated with tarot from a young age. But now the time is right to start learning properly. I got my decks and book a week ago, and I just used my intuition for the most part. Then I check the book for further insight and pick what resignates. I'm a real newbie, but I have a ton of intuition and I feel so good when reading my cards 💛 I love to learn more and more over the years to come and have two more books on the way to help with my practice 😊
when I used to teach Tarot, I started my students off , not by learning what the traditional meanings were, because that will handcuff your intuition....Instead I had them look at each key & go into the key in a dreamlike state & just recite a story that comes to mind. They were all very creative , but true.
I did tarot many years ago and just followed the books meaning especially with the couple of friends I did a spread for, amazingly it all fell into place for those people but the mistake I made for myself was doing the spread for myself (I always did the celtic cross as it always resonated with me as I have Irish blood) and expecting a different result than the original reading as I found that if it was not what I wanted to hear I would get frustrated even angry, but the story in the reading remained the same even when different cards came out it still had the same rhythm. Even if I would place more "explanatory" cards on top, it still came out the same..... I think I was denying/rejecting my inner wisdom, the answer to the question at hand, my higher all knowing self. I never did an intuitive reading, just from the book as I was afraid of being wrong. so now I am following your videos and starting from scratch.... oh and I get my new cat middle to late April this year 2019 and am so excited that you related this as part of your must haves.
Robyn, I can definitely relate to this - I've been in that situation before where I didn't like my reading so I scrapped it, started over and got the same (or similar) cards! Anyhow, I'm glad you're finding my videos helpful and how wonderful that you'll be adopting a new kitty soon :) Cats make life magical!
For me, the most frustrating thing about learning tarot, is getting my intuition to kick in: some days intuition is there, other days, not so much, for some reason and it is intuition that I am trying to really develop first, as opposed to memorizing the card meanings. Oh, yes, I agree: "Memorization is a form of brainwashing". Very helpful video, thank you, Kate :)
Thanks Lisa! Glad you liked this. Yeah, intuition is kind of like a mood sometimes - some days it's there and others it isn't - I experience that as well.
I have been listening to readings before bed for myself, then ordered decks... And although I'm a Pisces and normally have lots of intuiton, I am afraid to not have any when it comes to tarot reading. I haven't done it yet, not to me, not to anyone... But i feel like i might not have enough self confidence to "pull it off" so easily as all the ones i watch... it's like i don't know how or where to get my intuition with tarot. And in my own life, i most often realize after an even occurs that my intuition was correct.... Any tips? And I love your voice. It's soooo calming to me!
I know i'm late and this may be similar if not the same as other comments, but the most frustrating thing for me was trying to figure out when to read the reverse meanings instead of the upright. I only just learned to watch for whether or not my cards are upside down for reverse or right side up for upright readings.
I'm still learning taro. My deck was 'gifted' to me. But I have to make the card descriptions. Hardest part to me so far is writing all the information down. I've done some readings but sometimes not sure how the cards connect.
I'm only just learning the tarot so I think my biggest frustration is trying to figure out what it means to 'feel' the cards. I'm learning them to get in touch with my intuitive side as I've noticed that it seems to be popping up more and more often.
Im learning tarot with a deck i bought, basically what im doing is, im turning the cards over, and getting a message for each card, combined with cards around it, the pictures paint a story in my mind, which i think is coming from spirit guidance
I'm still learning, and yes it has been frustrating, I've been going through books still not helping.. I've starting with one card, practice it then been moving on to next one, I feel like I've been going nowhere, I can't interpret the cards, been trying!! Trying to self teach myself, and it's like how do know if I'm doing something wrong or right! It's been a battle, but I'm not giving up, Thank you for this video
I have to read the meanings in a book I don't remember them as I just cable in it. Its like learning a foreign language. Start at lesson 1 and in time you'll complete it with practice I guess.
I trusted my instincts to click on your video. It wasn’t an algorithm because I searched for a specific tarot video. Thank you so much for sharing this insight. I received it well 😊
I agree, start with minor and learn about the suits. You could do a halfway decent reading just knowing the meanings of the suits and elements... "Wow, there is a lot of water energy here, this is a very emotional situation." You may not be able to give the most detail readings, but you can use your intuition and give somewhat of a decent beginner reader just by learning the 4 suits. It took me a while to realize that you can give a good reading without "reading" every single thing about the card. I was giving a reading and I had a queen of wands and as soon as I started talking about fire energy, my querant was *already feeling goosebumps* its great to know a bunch of stuff about a card, but there is so much you can do with smaller amounts of information. I think we under-rate the meanings of the suits because there are 14 different cards and we know they don't all mean the same thing, so we ignore that they *are* different expressions of a type of energy. If we spent more time in the begining learning about those energies, I think our readings would be easier and more fun. (Like learning to paint with big sweeping motions before we learn about putting little details down)
My main difficulty that took me years to understand, and still not fully, is the court cards. The difficulty was, and sometimes still is, with deciding who the court card represents in the reading regarding the issue asked. And it makes it more difficult when it's just a current energy rather than representing a specific person. I highly agree with you regarding the 2nd and 3rd mistakes! Tough I personally believe; as a beginner you should definitely start with the Major Arcana, Since before approaching the everyday life in the Minors you should start with the The Fool's journey and with Archetypes and duality such as Masculinity/femininity, Manifestation/Inner wisdom, Mother/Father figures, Conformity belief system etc. Then to the Minors and then again to the Majors. My biggest advice for Tarot readers, beginners/advanced, is always taking into a consideration numerology and astrology. Being able to see if there are 3 three cards and its meaning, or a couple of fours which can be about foundation and structure etc. Thanks for the video!!
It’s much easier for me to relate and understand the major arcana than the minor arcana. I have a lot of trouble with the minor arcana and maybe this just depends on the person or the deck.
Daily Tarot Girl yes, I’m trying to. I am going to check your website. One of the problems I had was that I couldn’t really practice, because I’m always reading for myself so I got bored
One guy I knew said that the best thing to do was to take out the little white book, read it over several times, get a good grasp of it, then throw it away.
I know this video was posted a while ago but for me the justice card is always having something to do with the law. Police, lawyers , court proceedings, judges, illegal activity, winning in court. There’s so many different meanings depending on the question of course, where it’s placed, and the surrounding cards. But again justice always points toward a “ judgement “ of some kind ❤
My most difficult circumstance is when people don't want to open up or give any information about themselves. Its hard to read people like that and I wondered if there is a subtle way of gaining information when it is not offered.
Jamie Fintonis Yes! I read for skeptics and “prickly” querents all the time. (I actually enjoy it.) Here’s what I do: Using the Celtic Cross spread, I look at the card in Position 7. That will be what the querent is fearful or uncomfortable talking about. Reading that card first (with lots of kindness) usually helps open the session for both me & the querent. Or... Using a 3-card or 5-card Past-Present-Future spread, the center card sets the tone of the reading.
Just starting out. Getting to know my cards is the biggest thing right now. I didn't realize I was looking at a 3 of pentacles till I saw the top of the card and saw the symbols lol.
Stopping by to support. 😊 I grew up with Tarot and I've watched people learn in their own ways. Lol...it can be more like cooking actually...depending on the type of chef one is. Just straight memorization is definitely something I wouldn't reccommend. It's more like getting to know them as individuals....almost like people...and then there's learning all the quirks and nuances of individual decks (lol..there's a whole other personality right there.😊)
These are some great analogies! I love seeing tarot cards as people - this has helped be beyond belief when it comes to seeing a card from different perspectives.
From me I first started learning tarot years ago and I put down a couple of times and I've come back recently. When I first started reading it was all only looking at the meaning. Now I look at the meeting but I also relate to what it feels like it's telling me. Like I use the site that has a set of words for each of the cards. There was one time that I got one card Purdue different people for a daily reading but I felt their meaning what's different. So the reading I did the answers I gave them each a bit different and ended up being much more accurate to what they needed to know. Unless you think I've decided is sent my brain does not want to hold the information to the ADHD no point in me trying to memorize I can just look it up and then give my reading based on my intuition along with that info
Learning the minor is Great idea but using the first 10 major helps with the process going through swords wands cups and penecales then the pages followed by court cards then return to major again to the fool helps....just saw it explained to me it was worth it....
I been doing it for 14 yrs of an on n i think everyone goes threw dry Spells while reading sometimes we get cocky n think we kno it all every card means something differant depending on position an for what type . its a whole different world lol i love how at the end how you made the eperior relatable . loved the video
The relationship I have with the cards are like the relationships I have with people. Whatever I see in a card now will evolve in teeney tiny ways gradually overtime. There is no end to learning the tarot or about the people you know.
New to tarot....It's funny how you said not to memorize the meanings because after I got a new deck I read through the booklet pretty fast, I knew I wouldn't memorize them anyway 😅 lol. I got the Renaissance tarot deck and while reading I mostly pointed out the certain things the discription mention, btw the minor arcana in this deck is hard as a newb 😩, anyways by doing this, it gives me an idea of what a card means but I tend to brainstorm more by not knowing exactly. Sorry for the long comment, awesome video, I loved it, I'm going to go hit subscribe now. 🙋🏻♀️ Lol 😅
I am having truoble learning to read the cards as a whole. I am learning how to read them individually ok, but learning how one card relates to another is a problem
Hi Ann, Connecting cards can be tricky. I made a video on that topic and you might find it helpful: www.daily-tarot-girl.com/learn-tarot/how-connect-cards-3-card-tarot-reading/
You are so right! I started learning the major arcana at the beginning and now it’s somehow boring for me to lear the minor arcana and it’s a huge problem because I feel like I can’t read only with the major arcana
One negative mistake that I learned about tarot cards first starting out is what it means when cards are reversed. To me, I let the reversed action of the cards go as a negative. I later learned that, depending on the card position, it could mean a negative element pending as opposed to present. This could be any position where said card lays. Also, another negative is the significator. Just because I'm reading a man doesn't mean that I have to set the Male reflection in the card. To me, it's not very defining of the receiver's situation and/or focus of the message that is being translated, if that makes sense.
I allowed other people to shame me for looking at the little white book. I found myself overwhelmed by so many different symbols in the beginning and when I was shamed I ended up shutting down
If the little white book helps you feel less overwhelmed, don't feel bad about using it! And don't let others ideas about Tarot squelch your enthusiasm for it ♥
Im a beginner and must say that some of the keywords, are hard to understand by just looking At the card. Often I have thought: how did they get this keyword out of this card and it's symbolism. What I found is VERY helpful, is the fool's journey. I feel like it guide me through the major arkana with so much understanding, where I now see much deeper meanings :) I did learn the minor arkana first, as the book " the easiest way to learn tarot ever" suggest :) but I felt the traditional meanings of the major was a bit confusing. In the book by Barbara Moore "your tarot your way", she have the fool's journey easy explained :)
"Memorization is a form of brainwashing." I fell OFF MY CHAIR! Brilliant!!
ha ha! I love that you loved that :)
I'll never forget this one. It's so true
same!
1. Starting with major arcana
2. Rushing in the learning journey of tarot
3. Memorizing tarot cards' meaning
Christine Teoh no it’s not abt memorizing them it’s about having a connection and having intuition
Thank U veryyyy much
Good info the greatest info that I have ever had was by following the Stefs Magic Numbers (i found it on google) - definately the best natural method that I have ever followed.
Thank you. I didn’t want to be rude but... we came here for what we came for. 😅
you saved five minutes of my life
My biggest mistake when first starting out reading for other people was being too sensitive to the person's energy and changing my words accordingly - instead of just reading the cards. Now I know to read the cards.
Yes! I did this for a long time, too. This is one of the reasons why I prefer doing recorded/distance readings to live, in person readings. I get too distracted by their energy!
How interesting! I actually prefer doing in-person readings. I've been going back on forth on this as I straighten out my Tarot services... !
Yeah I agree. I have definitely been their
Allison Kessler such great advice that is! Just read. Love it!
I'm so glad you decided to pick up the Tarot again, Lisa :) Glad you found my video helpful!
I wrote a blog post about reversals that you might find helpful: www.daily-tarot-girl.com/2013/06/29/how-to-read-tarot-cards-reversed/
Cheers,
Kate
This is really lovely to hear - thank you :) I'm so happy that my videos have been a real help to you on your Tarot path. Thank you for watching :)
Her-"cooking to poledancing"
me- well that escalated quickly...
😂😂😂😂When she said pole dancing, I fell off my chair. So funny!
Thank you for this! I really appreciate you sharing this with us! Gratitude 🙏🌻
My mistake was rushing the learning. I have since slowed down. One card a day, drawn with the intent of showing today’s opportunity. I loved your suggestion of starting a tarot journal. Very helpful.
I didn't think there was a right and wrong with tarot? Trust your intuition I say x
i don’t believe it’s so much as “WRONG!!!” but like more as a general path that (also) generally wouldn’t be good for learning, or the wisest path for baby readers. but you are right! trust your intuition love!! ❤️
she never said it was wrong to learn a certain way. she's simply giving general tips that can help a majority of people who she's encountered struggle w these types of things. you're more than allowed to learn by the quote 'mistakes' she listed.
Super helpful, will be journaling with these tips. Thank you so much!!
I’ll be looking at many more of your videos! Thank you again
"Card meanings" are *just a starting point*
Im a total beginner with tarot, but thankfully i found your video and stopped myself from trying to memorize every card. I like to keep things written down so I´m doing my own interpretations following like the base from the card and has become so much easier to learn them this way. Also, seeing the full suit as a story really helps to see the transitions in between them.
Thank you for your videos, I don't fell so discouraged now
I love this video so much. You are such a big help! Sending love!
Im so excitec to continue on thank you for all you do!🍀🍀🍀
This is so good to hear, Hannah! I'm happy my video helped you connect more with your deck - thanks so much for letting me know!!!
Really good , and the other vid about rules to ignore. Thank u much
I can connect to you so well, and through your videos with my deck and me I just feel so well and healed and refreshed as a reader after viewing your vidoes
This is so nice to hear!!!! Thank you for letting me know :)
Thank you for sharing. I'm going to read on your website. Blessed Be. Greets from the Netherlands
As a tarot practioneer, i agree on all you said. A thing to add is before hitting the tarot, one should know how to meditate.
I'm so glad this resonated! Best of luck with your Tarot studies :)
I haven't started my journey yet. I am sure that I will revisit your video again soon. Thank you! It's an eye-opening insight.
Cheers!🙂🇨🇦
Great Advice!! I wish I saw this video when I began!!! Wonderful advice!!!!!!!!!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching, Suzanne :)
Soo
Insightful!!!
I'm totally New ! Haven't started just yet.
Learning !
YOUR videos are so helpful 👍
Thank you!!
Excellent tips!
Cheers,
Kate
Just found this video. I think my biggest mistake was not reading cards in relation to proximity to other cards and how they could be telling on each other. Thanks for this video!
In the beginning, one of the tarot cards I struggled with a lot was the Hanged Man, but in my second 3 card reading, which I was doing for a friend, it spoke to me clearer than any card in any reading I had done yet, and it was reversed of all things.
Still struggling with the wands
connecting the cards and spreads
First time I've ever heard pole dancing and construction in the same sentence!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
.... awesome video!! Thank you for making me think of tarot in that way, thanks for your time and knowledge!! 😃❤️💪
I'm so glad you enjoyed this - thank you for watching :)
Thank you!
I'm so glad you could relate to this - thank you for watching and I'm glad you're enjoying my vids!
I'm so glad you're finding my videos (and Carrie's) really helpful in your Tarot journey :) Thanks for watching and commenting!
I'm glad you liked this, Debra and glad you found it helpful :) The one card a day exercise is great - that's how I learned, too.
I also taught to keep a journal of major readings so you can refer to them in the future to see how you could have tweaked the reading if you missed something.
This was sooooo helpful. I’ve been starting off learning the major arcana and I’ve been so frustrated because of how complex the meanings are. This was awesome!
Good to hear, Destiny :) Glad this was helpful for you!
That's wonderful to hear, Mathilde! I wish you the best of luck as you embark on your Tarot journey :)
I've made _all_ of these mistakes, though I'm still learning.
Your video was really helpful for me to step out of this path.

In the part when you asked about The Emporer card it really gave me a different perspective, a good one thank you!
Awesome! Good to hear!
when I used to teach Tarot, I started my students off , not by learning what the traditional meanings were, because that will handcuff your intuition....Instead I had them look at each key & go into the key in a dreamlike state & just recite a story that comes to mind. They were all very creative , but true.
Binge watching your older videos ✨
Just starting out but thanks for the info xx
Thank you so much, this completely changes the way I read, understand and learn Tarot. Thank you ❤️
That is so wonderful to hear, Nazarena!!!
Im a baby in tarot..my frustration is def learning all the meanings of the cards and linking cards together! I don't know how to do that yet!
I'm still learning taro. My deck was 'gifted' to me. But I have to make the card descriptions. Hardest part to me so far is writing all the information down. I've done some readings but sometimes not sure how the cards connect.
I notice that The Emperor is looking suspiciously to the side like he expects people are plotting to overthrow him.
I'm only just learning the tarot so I think my biggest frustration is trying to figure out what it means to 'feel' the cards. I'm learning them to get in touch with my intuitive side as I've noticed that it seems to be popping up more and more often.
I think we're so used to thinking and analyzing, that feeling into something feels foreign to us - at least I know that's true for me.
Yr 2020.
This is true im having difficulty with the major.. Minors are coz of the picture.
Im learning tarot with a deck i bought, basically what im doing is, im turning the cards over, and getting a message for each card, combined with cards around it, the pictures paint a story in my mind, which i think is coming from spirit guidance
Thank you 🙏💖
I'm still learning, and yes it has been frustrating, I've been going through books still not helping..
I received it well 😊
Thanks for watching, Natorri :) Glad you found me!
I agree, start with minor and learn about the suits. You could do a halfway decent reading just knowing the meanings of the suits and elements... "Wow, there is a lot of water energy here, this is a very emotional situation."
You may not be able to give the most detail readings, but you can use your intuition and give somewhat of a decent beginner reader just by learning the 4 suits.
I have a lot of trouble with the minor arcana and maybe this just depends on the person or the deck.
no wonder I abandoned tarot a couple of years ago. I did all the three mistakes you mentioned! lol
wish me luck
Good luck! Are you getting back into it?
Daily Tarot Girl yes, I’m trying to. I am going to check your website. One of the problems I had was that I couldn’t really practice, because I’m always reading for myself so I got bored
Trying to hard to memorize the meanings and trying to hard to get it all at once.
Great video.xo
One guy I knew said that the best thing to do was to take out the little white book, read it over several times, get a good grasp of it, then throw it away.
Being able to make a story like tarot readers do so easily
(I actually enjoy it.) Here’s what I do:
Using the Celtic Cross spread, I look at the card in Position 7. That will be what the querent is fearful or uncomfortable talking about. Reading that card first (with lots of kindness) usually helps open the session for both me & the querent.
Or...
Using a 3-card or 5-card Past-Present-Future spread, the center card sets the tone of the reading.
@@georginatoland thank you!!!
Just starting out. Getting to know my cards is the biggest thing right now. I didn't realize I was looking at a 3 of pentacles till I saw the top of the card and saw the symbols lol.
Your videos always make my crown chakra tingle 😍 please post more lol
oh that's awesome! So good to hear :)
Very useful tips! Greetings from Colombia
So good to hear, Miguel! Greetings from Canada :)
Love that! It’s the journey! Yes!!!!
Kate - awesome video! :)
Thank you!
🙋🏻♀️ Lol 😅
Thanks for subscribing and I'm glad this resonated with you!
I am having truoble learning to read the cards as a whole. I am learning how to read them individually ok, but learning how one card relates to another is a problem
Hi Ann,
Connecting cards can be tricky.
Definitely reading reverse cards has been frustrating
