They're fun, but I don't think most people are that hyped over it, it's just casual mindless fun
As a fellow old person i agree about the hype, which was maginifcent. The film, however, sucked balls. Peoples nausa was found to have been caused by motion sickness from the style of camera work. The ending made me laugh out loud in an otherwise silent theatre.

Avatar is also one of the biggest reasons to buy a 3D television. It was an emerging fad when Avatar came out, and Avatar was legitimately great on a 3D TV. Unfortunately for 3D TVs, that was about the end of the reasons to get a 3D TV.
I disagree about Scarface and the LOTR trilogy, mostly. I understand that the LOTR trilogy isn't for everyone; but I think that in Scarface, the way that shit just went wild was just way too enjoyable.
Pacino's awful Cuban accent is the worst part of that movie. The whole movie is just kind of dated looking back at it. It's a decent movie but definitely not one of De Palma's best or Pacino's best for me.
Scarface is intentionally campy. It is meant to be a satire on 80s excess. As for its place in hip-hop, the kay fabe of rappers fits in perfectly with gangster movie bravado.
Frozen is overrated. Everyone talks about Frozen like it’s the greatest Disney ever produced. I thought it was a generic Princess movie with princesses, queens, spells, magic, evil . All the usual stuff you see in Disney Princess movies. And the song from Frozen is the most annoying song I’ve ever heard from a movie , PERIOD!! I think it’s a vastly overrated film, especially compared to earlier Disney movies
I think Maverick was a tale of expectations. The first wave of people went in to a sequel for a movie that didn’t require one 36 years later thinking it would probably stink. Then it didn’t, and they were so pleasantly surprised they hyped it up. Then the second wave of people came in listening to that hype and called it overrated.
I never believed in the whole "this movie is overhyped" argument. At least I don't believe people should believe in it. You see a movie and you either like it or you don't. It shouldn't matter what other people say about it, just watch it and judge it based on it's own merit, not develop any preconceived notions of what you think the movie is going to be.
@@WoahLookAtThatFreak exactly. I do that with every movie. I dont like what everyone else likes bc they like it, it's just my own opinion. I disagree with several of these picks but that just means it’s a good list. I’m interested to see more non sports analysis videos from Barry in the future
As a massive LOTR fan, even I must admit that it's definitely not for everyone and considering I first saw the films at age 6 there's certainly a lot of nostalgia bias on my part.
I agree. I love them (The Hobbit movies much less so..), but they aren't for everyone, Barry being one of them. No big deal. He never said they were bad movies either, and they aren't. So no harm no foul. With that being said, I don't think they are overrated. He definitely overlooked the theme of becoming corrupt slowly, over time, and having a support system in place to help you out. He was more focused on action and the whole good-guy vs bad-guy thing. Sauron (basically Satan, corrupting minds slowly, over time) Sarumon, Orcs, the fallen men chasing the ring-bearer, Frodo and even Sean Bean...err Boromir, falling victim to it and slowly descending into madness. Anyone could have been a bad guy. Except for Samwise. He seemed immune. He only had the ring for safe-keepings to help Frodo.
@Sort of an Oaky Afterbirth I agree with this take, especially since he stated they were "properly rated" in a previous underrated overrated or properly rated video (if I'm remembering correctly)
Of course it's not for everyone. The LOTR is for people who hate logic, believable storytelling and quality dialogue but enjoy movies oversaturated with CGI, movie effects, needless action, unearned power and even more action.
Love to see you branch into this kind of content. A lot of these are phenomenal movies that I think you are undervaluing. Mad Max, LOTR, and the Shining are incredible that can engaged with super deeply due to the ridiculous levels of detail. However, you are definitely spot on for Avatar and Top Gun Maverick.
Honestly I’m okay with all of these besides Empire and The Shining. Blair Witch Project at #1 is soooo based. I despise that movie with every fiber of my being
People don't love Scarface because it's a great movie. They love it because its so wonderfully awful. It's a lot like Eastwood's Heartbreak Ridge. It's a terrible movie but it's filled with so many cheesy and iconic moments.
Abysmally wrong on Maverick. No one’s saying it’s “one of the best movies ever,” just that it’s a really good movie that was desperately needed at the time it was released, as well as Cruise demanding and pushing for it being a theatrical release. Yes, it’s very heavy on the tropes, but that’s fine. It’s a really good movie with some of the best “fight scenes” we’ve seen in a movie, and with the context surrounding it’s release, it’s a fantastic film. It’s an 8/10 and one of the few movies I’d be willing to see again within like three years of seeing it one other time.
I will disagree with one thing. Rooster didn’t hate maverick because his dad’s death, he hated him because maverick pulled his application to the academy, setting him back years
The thing people forget about avatar was how incredible the CGI was for the time. Especially in 3d/theaters. It grossed so much because it was a spectacle not some cinematic masterpiece
Fury Road was all about adrenaline and action, there's no reason to delve that deep into the main characters. Max's character has already been explained years ago. It's definitely not meant to be a drama. It was awesome! It did what exactly what it was supposed to for mad max fans. In fact it over delivered so much that any new sequels probably won't match up.
I agree The Blair Witch sucked but number 1 should have been the Godfather. Massively overrated and brought shame to the Oscars for winning best picture, just like The English Patient. Reality based movies are always a bore.
Wow, wasn’t expecting “The Shining” on this list. It’s sole purpose isn’t supposed to be a horror movie, and I do get the “it’s boring” part too. It’s definitely long, but very well done. Definitely not everyone’s cup of tea tho
I'm not the only one here obviously but I wholly disagree with the LOTR take. If the entire movie were action, the action wouldn't mean much. The Battle at Helm's Deep is so great because of the character and plot development prior.
Some things were shocking or thrilling when released, and show their age when you look back at them. Not saying Blair Witch Project isn’t overrated (hadn’t heard of it until this video), but I would argue that something can age like milk and still be worth a good review.
@Toxic King that's like every qb, no one stays at their peak forever, and it's time to hang it up. But at least he had a great peak, Blair witch, not so much.
I 100% agree on Scarface. It's an okay movie that has become way overrated as the time has gone on. I realized this might be controversial, but to me the Matrix is overrated. It revolutionized visual effects at the time and also ruined them simultaneously as so many films since have poorly used bullet time. The plot is just okay and is ruined by mediocre sequels.
Yes Barry, this is what we been waiting for, great content, hopefully we see more non sport related vids like this similar to your Halloween themed vids from like 2 years ago.
Cannibal Holocaust was the first, not Blair Witch.. In the Cannibal film the director nearly got imprisoned for murder because they genuinely believed he killed the actors.
For the youngsters......Avatar was very much a rip-off of a Oscar winning movie starring Kevin Costner called "Dances With Wolves". It's even referred by several folks to be "Dances With Wolves in space.". James Cameron gets upset when asked about it. Btw DWW is an excellent movie if you've never seen it.
Aragorn Rodgers is supremely underrated. Gimli's Run game was on point in several crutial points. Gandalf with that great audible on the Bridge of Khazad-dûm saved the play switching it to a hand off end around sweep. Bill Balrog Bellicheck was not ready for that.
Hell naw not Empire. LOTR was pushing it but I can understand even if I disagree with, but your arguments don't hold up for ESB. They are barely in the slug, and even when they are it's not even boring. Flipping through the jungle, running into the fake Darth Vader, and getting some of the most quotable lines in all of cinema does not equate to doing nothing on Dagobah. I could maybe accept an argument if you say it's slightly overrated since I do think episode 4 is a bit better, but no way you have it in the top 10 of all time.
“Empire strikes back is boring” is the laziest criticism ever. If you’re not entertained by the battle on hoth to Luke training with yoda and lando betraying Han than maybe consider that you are the problem not the movie
Scarface unintentionally being a parody somehow makes it better. Empire is slow in the middle but the character development pays off in the end. Kinda weird how Mad Max sucked for having action and no plot dev but Empire is bad for the opposite reason? LOTR is mostly about the world. If you don't like them and find them boring, it's because you're not interested in the world building, which is fine it ain't for everyone. The rest you're bang on.
Gonna respectfully disagree on Empire and the LOTR trilogy. Similar as to why Lebron is the GOAT, these movies are masterpieces for their time. Looking at the bigger picture, no fantasy movie even comes close to reaching the heights the LOTR trilogy does, when was the last time we had a fantasy trilogy have each movie be almost perfect? I think Empire can't be overrated either, it created the definition of the "perfect sequel", which increases the stakes, darker tone, and more fleshed out antagonist. This template is still used to this day and that's because it's so damn good.
In my opinion i never understood why so many people like Brave (Disney) is literally a mediocre attempt of Disney to use a fantasy world of warriors, kingdoms etc, overrated to me
Yeah I definitely agree with your #1 (I couldn't make it through the movie it was so boring) and the Blair Witch movie spawned the horrible genre of found footage that led to abominations involving "ghost hunting" and bigfoot. Only disagreement is the inclusion of The Shining, which I still think is one of the best horror movies ever.
I agree with alot of the list with one mild disagreement, and 2 huge wtf is going on disagreements. I can see how scarface is overrated but it's so iconic to me that I love it no matter what. Now LOTR trilogy is awesome. Long yes, but it's storytelling at the highest level and the empire strikes back is a classic and blasphemous to be mentioned on this list.
Honestly impressed with how much I agree with this list. You nearly lost me with LotR but then I rememebered the action IS pretty slow outside of a couple epic battles. Overall great list, some of these aren’t bad, they just aren’t AS good as people say.
I have to say I agree with all of your choices except for Star Wars. I can admit that I grew up on the film and it was one of the things my dad and I bonded over so bias is definitely there. Great list though, I get a lot of push back when I say I don't think these films are as good as they're hyped up to be.
It’s the most boring Star Wars movie in the franchise and I’ve only seen it full thro 10 ten times at best, and a couple of those times I was struggling to stay awake. It’s literally the most overrated movie in the Star Wars franchise considering how boring it really is. Return of The Jedi and Revenge of The Sith are both better and ur not convincing me otherwise
@@coreyswan4747 Wouldn't try to, I also like both of those movies better and also admitted a lot of bias when I said I liked the movie. But again to be fair the only Star Wars movies I don't like are the new ones. The prequels hold a special place in my heart I even like Phantom Menace.
@@Pingly187 to me the force awakens isn’t that bad, definitely number 7 thou on the list, eh maybe even lower, cause Rogue One and Han Solo a Star Wars Story are both better than the 3 current ones, and The Last Jedi to me reminds me of Empire but has a little more action but still is horrible, and there’s a couple select scenes from the last one that I love that gives me goosebumps: c-3po scene and the moment Lando comes with the whole fleet, jus the powerful inspiration man, but here’s my list in order: 1. Revenge of The Sith 2. Return of The Jedi 3. Rogue One 4. A New Hope 5. Solo A Star Wars Story (mainly love my boy Woody Harrelson) 6. The Phantom Menice 7. Empire Strikes Back 8. Attack of The Clones 9. The Force Awakens 10. The Rise of SkyWalker 11. The Last Jedi
@@coreyswan4747 I haven't actually seen Solo yet, I did enjoy Rogue One though, see I really didn't like any of the Disney Era main series movies. I thought Force Awakens was pretty boring and had some contrivances I couldn't look past. I'd have to say.... 1. Revenge of the Sith 2. The Return of the Jedi 3. Empire Strikes Back 4. Phantom Menace 5. A New Hope 6. Clone Wars 7. Rogue One 8. Force Awakens And the last jedi and the rise of Skywalker are both F tier garbage that make me want to cry.
@@Pingly187 do you even know what Rogue One is truly about? Most Star Wars fans would say it’s at least a top 5 film, I think its worthy of 4 or 5, 7 is kinda insulting considering there wouldn’t have been a new hope if the story about Rogue One didn’t exist
Some of these I can agree with and see your perspective and I know you are not big on The Shining and that type of genre but that movie, LOTR, and Mad Max Fury Road are all excellent movies that do amazing things respectively.
I kinda disagree with Empire. While I understand if the middle isn’t very exciting to you. Like you say about the movie, I think it’s still “objectively good”. Which sadly more than most Star Wars movies can say now.
Half the movies here are indeed overrated, the other half no. Rosemary's Baby is absolute garbage, I agree. Mad Max Fury Road is also mediocre. Titanic is not a considered a masterpiece by anyone I know, it was an epic crowd-pleaser that brought money into the business. Avatar is garbage, but the effects, action and 3D gimmickry made it a mega-hit. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy? The first film in that franchise is indeed a masterpiece, the other two are indeed overrated. The Shining is one of the best films ever, easily. Top Gun Maverick is one of the best recent Hollywood blockbusters.
It’s nice to see you branch out. We will have to agree to disagree on the three LotR movies, but I agree with the rest of the list. To take it a step further, the fact that I think Empire is the best movie of the original Star Wars trilogy makes me rethink how good those original films actually were. A large part of my love for the original trilogy is undoubtedly nostalgia. 6 year old me loved Empire.
That's just his opinion though. The original trilogy is still great to this day and Empire is the best of the trilogy and probably the best Star Wars film in general.
Tbh i agree with his point about the movies having to much pointless traveling that don't add much to the plot, at least in the book the traveling and dialogue added lore and character depth, but in the films it was like i was watching 2 hours of a new Zealand tourist propaganda sometimes .
I think an overlooked reason why Empire Strikes Back is its World building. In “a new hope” you get a tight adventure story, but you only see desert, millennium falcon, and Death Star. But empire strikes back shows huge visual contrast between worlds. Also I think the reason most people rate this movie so highly is because while the action slows in the center of the movie (like most stories) you spend that time with some of the greatest characters and interaction between characters of the series if not all of film. Overall you’re a poopyhead for thinking it’s overrated
Makes sense besides the absurd LOTR bit. Avatar is so overrated, someone had to say it. The lotr part was so wrong it was sad. Other comments already break down the flaws in the anti-lotr argument so I won’t go into detail here.
A pleasant surprise, but dear lord as an avid Star Wars fan boy that ninth selection hurt. I do agree it is weird but that's because George Lucas never really thought the franchise would take off as much as it did to require the later made prequels come out to give a bit more context. (EDIT) How dare, you shall not pass for that inclusion of the LOTR franchise. I would've been okay if the Hobbit was there but the cinematic masterpiece of the LOTR was too great for even the most inattentive fan to get immersed into
To be fair to kelly mcgillis (the woman from the original top gun) the original film came out almost 40 years ago she’s literally a senior citizen it’s not her fault Tom cruise made a deal with a failed sci-fi writer
Avatar is super overrated. It's theme has been done better many times before. It looked good at the time I guess but the fact the second one made so much money is crazy to me .
I would love to see another version of this video! Perhaps one about the top 10 most underrated movies of all time? For me personally John Carpenter’s The thing would be my most underrated as it is such an amazing film that nobody talks about
As much as I love your takes I have to respectfully disagree about the Lord of the Rings. Arguably the most faithful adaption of a book series to the big screen. I may be biased since I watch them on a weekly basis. They are a godsend in cinematic history and looking at them being from 2003 they hold up very well for it’s time.
My personal list would have to include (in no specific order) -American Beauty -The Graduate -The Silence of the Lambs -Midnight Cowboy -Frozen -Ferris Bueller’s Day Off -Avatar -Tommy Boy -Forrest Gump -The King’s Speech -Rudy - A Few Good Men -& anything directed by M. Night Shyamalan
Okay. I have to agree with you on LOTR, Titanic, Top Gun Maverick as well as Star Waters. However, I would never ever forgive you on Mad Max. That movie is on another level. It's an action movie, and it's a 10/10 action movie.
Empire is not overrated. The meat in the middle is luke trying to figure out right from wrong and his priorities and attachments in life. The crew being pursued by the empire and ultimately captured adds to the stakes in an organic way.
Blair Witch Project was NOT the first found footage movie. That honor belongs to Cannibal Holocaust, which was so scary that the director was arrested for murder. I recommend giving it a watch
Many of the movies on this list are trash, and most are definitely overrated, so good job with that. I can't tell you how many times I've started to watch The Matrix and fallen asleep on it, but the most overrated film of all time, by leaps and bounds, is 2001: A Space Odyssey.
The reason Top Gun Maverick is so hyped isn’t because it’s an objectively great film, it’s because nearly every film for the past 5 years has been so utterly dogshit that it’s great by comparison. It’s like dying of thirst in the desert. No matter how rancid and muddy that puddle of water is, the dehydrated man finds it immaculate
@@Howitgoes799 I’ll give you the first 3, Parasite was dog water, and I’ve never heard of Climax. But that’s also why I said “nearly every” movie and not “every” movie. There’s always going to be a gem in there, but for the past several years every movie feels like it’s either a superhero movie, a “reboot, remake, or reimagining”, or so chock full of political pandering that it’s unwatchable
So many of these are good action, meh plot, which I guess isn’t your cup of tea, but man, I truly don’t understand needing a great plot/characters in every action movie. A movie can still be incredible with mediocre characters
The shinning is so boring 😂 finally someone who gets it. Most old horror movies Freddy Kruger, scream, etc just don’t hold up maybe I’ve just been spoiled by modern CGI
Star Wars, LOTR, Titanic, and Top Gun are out of place here. I can't speak to any others, I haven't seen any of them. But these are all ranging from good to great movies. The LOTR trilogy is perhaps the greatest trilogy ever made.
List of movies I found overrated. Not that they're bad, just the hype is not justified. Gladiator: It's fine, had some great moments but everything just felt pointless, not much was explored besides the fights, and it just had this depressing vibe to it. Pirates of the Caribbean: Got a bit of a soft spot because it's a fun movie but for a pirates movie I felt the potential is much greater than what we got and direction seemed silly at times. Skyfall: Don't like the new bond films, don't like Daniel Craig. Has like not personality. Just not the bonds I remember. The Hangover: I like comedy but not stupid comedy. Dark knight: Never understood the hype, was kind of just waiting for it to finish when I watched it. Mission Impossible: Cruise is like the most overrated actor. Movies are ok, but could never really get into them. Felt like something was missing. Harry Potter: Hype is too rampant. It's not that special of a movie or books. Otherwise also Avatar: Titanic: The Shawshank Redemption Forrest Gump Lord of the Rings (all) Rocky Rambo The Green Mile Pulp Fiction No Country for Old men Scarface Heat Spider man Xmen Top Gun

Surprise nobody talks about the irishman super overrated
Scarface is intentionally campy. It is meant to be a satire on 80s excess. As for its place in hip-hop, the kay fabe of rappers fits in perfectly with gangster movie bravado.
The quick cutaways to the Warriors and Tom Brady's playoff passer rating are perfect. Gotta keep those.
I'm just glad you didn't include your favorite film and my favorite film..80 for Brady. That movie is perfect.
He needs to do an in-depth review of that film. Would be hilarious!
In my opinion, Pulp Fiction is one of the most overrated films ever.
Tarantino in general is overrated. He, like his films including pulp fiction, is good but not one of the greats.
Top gun maverick is one of the most generic basic cliche movie of all time
Easily top 5 most overrated
Frozen is overrated.
Everyone talks about Frozen like it’s the greatest Disney ever produced. I thought it was a generic Princess movie with princesses, queens, spells, magic, evil . All the usual stuff you see in Disney Princess movies.
And the song from Frozen is the most annoying song I’ve ever heard from a movie , PERIOD!!
I think it’s a vastly overrated film, especially compared to earlier Disney movies
The blaire witch project becomes actually horrifying if you imagine just getting lost in the woods and going insane without the paranormal shit
yep. i disagree with his take there big time
I think Maverick was a tale of expectations.
I came in hoping for a sweaty 80's movie set 36 years later and instead got mission impossible 9. The flight scenes were cool though
@@WoahLookAtThatFreak exactly. I do that with every movie. I dont like what everyone else likes bc they like it, it's just my own opinion. For example, I like EP 4: A New Hope and EP 6: Return of the Jedi more than EP 5: Empire Strikes Back. In fact, I don't like Empire at all, but if other people like that's great, that's their opinion.
I liked it, but it is overrated just by the fact that there are people claiming that it is better than the first one.
first wave of people saw it in imax. second wave saw it in a regular theater lol
How could you omit "The Fast and the Furious" franchise?
Pretty much every one of the movies after fast five just felt forced and out of place

Blair Witch is super overrated. It’s somewhat creepy, but it was overall a boring film with a bad ending.
When I first watched it I was pretty young to but couldn't care less about the plot I just fought and still do think the battle scenes are awsome
@@troublej1035 for sure, my brothers and I would stand in front of the TV with nerf swords and act like we were in the battles too lmao.
I despise that movie with every fiber of my being
Barry for every movie: "It INSISTS upon itself!"
I know Star Wars isn't for everyone but saying that the whole Dagobah sequence was about nothing baffles me.
I will disagree with one thing. Rooster didn’t hate maverick because his dad’s death, he hated him because maverick pulled his application to the academy, setting him back years
Bro the rose Mary baby being overrated is what I have been saying for years.
I love you for putting Blair witch at #1. One of the most hyped up movies ever and it's fucking ass.
If you were born before Empire Strikes Back was deemed, “episode 5,” you can’t understand it’s popularity.
Please say avatar, please say avatar, please say avatar
I agree The Blair Witch sucked but number 1 should have been the Godfather. Massively overrated and brought shame to the Oscars for winning best picture, just like The English Patient. Reality based movies are always a bore.
Wow, wasn’t expecting “The Shining” on this list. It’s sole purpose isn’t supposed to be a horror movie, and I do get the “it’s boring” part too. It’s definitely long, but very well done. Definitely not everyone’s cup of tea tho
Not a movie for ADD addled millennials.
I'm not the only one here obviously but I wholly disagree with the LOTR take. If the entire movie were action, the action wouldn't mean much. The Battle at Helm's Deep is so great because of the character and plot development prior.
I think the Blair witch project really only worked when it was in the theaters. It has really aged like milk
a system horror movie
The Carson Wentz of horror movies, peaked when it came out and now has becomes a lost cause

Top gun Maverick was a good movie elevated to great status because of how trash and woke everything else from last year was.

I'm looking forward to your "best movies" list. Here's to hoping 80 for Brady is on it!🤞🤞🤞
Gonna respectfully disagree on Empire and the LOTR trilogy.
Weirdly enough I agree with all of them except the LOTR trilogy
In my opinion i never understood why so many people like Brave (Disney) is literally a mediocre attempt of Disney to use a fantasy world of warriors, kingdoms etc, overrated to me
Yeah I definitely agree with your #1 (I couldn't make it through the movie it was so boring) and the Blair Witch movie spawned the horrible genre of found footage that led to abominations involving "ghost hunting" and bigfoot. Only disagreement is the inclusion of The Shining, which I still think is one of the best horror movies ever.
Yeah, horror is my favorite film genre overall, but found footage is my least favorite sub-genre of horror.
Movies are an awesome topic and a never ending content goldmine, especially with someone with a comedic approach. Stick with it!
My dad cursed me out for saying Scarface was overrated glad you agree Barry
Honestly impressed with how much I agree with this list. You nearly lost me with LotR but then I rememebered the action IS pretty slow outside of a couple epic battles. Overall great list, some of these aren’t bad, they just aren’t AS good as people say.
Honestly don't disagree with anything on this list. Keep fighting the fight against marijuana overdoses and premarital sex Barry.
@@Pingly187 to me the force awakens isn’t that bad, definitely number 7 thou on the list, eh maybe even lower, cause Rogue One and Han Solo a Star Wars Story are both better than the 3 current ones, and The Last Jedi to me reminds me of Empire but has a little more action but still is horrible, and there’s a couple select scenes from the last one that I love that gives me goosebumps: c-3po scene and the moment Lando comes with the whole fleet, jus the powerful inspiration man, but here’s my list in order:
1. Revenge of The Sith
2. Return of The Jedi
3. Rogue One
4. A New Hope
5. Solo A Star Wars Story (mainly love my boy Woody Harrelson)
6. The Phantom Menice
7. Empire Strikes Back

9. The Force Awakens
10. The Rise of SkyWalker
11. The Last Jedi

2. The Return of the Jedi
3. Empire Strikes Back

"Maybe Lord of the Rings is too smart for me"
Well, I guess so!
Some of these I can agree with and see your perspective and I know you are not big on The Shining and that type of genre but that movie, LOTR, and Mad Max Fury Road are all excellent movies that do amazing things respectively.
Completely agree with Scarface, that movie would be unwatchable if it wasn't so funny

I kinda disagree with Empire. While I understand if the middle isn’t very exciting to you. Like you say about the movie, I think it’s still “objectively good”. Which sadly more than most Star Wars movies can say now.
I like this Barry. Making content more than just sports is something I would love to see in the future.
Episode 3 is the GOAT

A pleasant surprise, but dear lord as an avid Star Wars fan boy that ninth selection hurt. I do agree it is weird but that's because George Lucas never really thought the franchise would take off as much as it did to require the later made prequels come out to give a bit more context.
(EDIT)
How dare, you shall not pass for that inclusion of the LOTR franchise. I would've been okay if the Hobbit was there but the cinematic masterpiece of the LOTR was too great for even the most inattentive fan to get immersed into

I actually fell asleep during top gun maverick.
