Premier Guitar, this interviewer, deserves some kind of raise or recognition or something. He's literally one of the most casual, friendly and passionate interviewers I've ever seen. Always good watching him interview my favourite guitarists.
Myles and mark are always so gracious and well spoken. It's very refreshing to watch two artists be as articulate as they. John is a spectacular interviewer as well, not to mention a wicked guitarist.
Yeah alot of times we think of a rhythm player as only being good at rhythm work or bassist as only capable of bass, but I've seen many guys who seem to be just as incredible at another style of playing or another instrument as their primary one.
The lore of Alter Bridge includes the story that they didn’t know that Myles played guitar at all. Early on, Mark walked by the guest room where Myles was staying and heard an incredible guitar sound. When he asked what Myles was listening to, Myles responded that he was playing. And that was that. They brought him on for his voice with no idea of his technical guitar talent.
He plays the main solo to Isolation and several other songs. I believe he also talked about being more of a guitarist that just happened to be a singer.
I used to work for PRS. Remember seeing them making the prototype "explorer". I actually took a picture of the raw body. It is a three piece body. They used a left hand guitar, flipped it, and then extended the wood to make it look like an explorer.
PRS legacy is paved with its love for their artists. The first production single cuts from them came from giving a young guitarist in a big new band a signature. They take features their artists want on their customs and they put them on their production guitars. I love this company.
I worked at a furniture store in Orlando Florida. One week after quitting, my friend who still was working there, called and told me that they just delivered to Mark. He said one room was full of guitars and amps. He also said that Mark was just a regular guy. Should have stayed another week.
Man, John has come a long way hasn't he? Back when he was almost universally hated but now he's made a name for himself while keeping his signature genuine excitement for all things guitar. Please keep him around!
popular alter bridge tunings. Eb standard. Drop Db. D Standard. Drop C. Drop Bb (BbAbDbGbBbEb), Open Db 5 (DbAbDbAbDbDb. There are a few others that are weirder but live they tend to consolidate into these ones.
That is correct, but Alter Bridge uses the variation that I posted above for most of their songs in Bb, Come to Life, Broken Wings, Still Remains, farther than the sun, etc.
If Premier Guitar ever reads these, your interviewer in this video was great. Loves the music, lets the guys talk, enthusiastic about his job. Give him a raise and make him a staple!
Incredibly awesome for Miles to show some of his tones in this, one of my favourite bands without a doubt. Finally get to see them live in Glasgow next month, excitement levels off the charts after hearing those tones, instantly recognisable songs
I’d love to have been a fly on the wall when E-Rock (Eric Friedman) walked into the studio with his Kemper profiling amp when they recorded the latest Tremonti record 😂
John Bolinger Rocks. Great guy, such a gentleman. The way he puts the artist at ease @5:30 is indicative if a great interviewer. You have a lot of fans in Australia John & we all love the uploads of your excellent interviews.
@ What John said that you wish people could hear it in the room, I actually did 2 weeks ago I went to Alter Bridge show in Amsterdam and it was freaking amazing :D great sound.
Wow they've really simplified their North American rigs! The big euro rigs are probably just too much for the venues they play here (which is a shame). Loved that Myles demoed a lot of his tones though! Great rundown on both rigs.
+Oisin McPhillips yeah but I've also seen pictures of their current tour in Europe and they have their full rigs. They've had two for the past couple years so they don't need to ship them back and forth.
I agree with Mark about the wireless packs and amp modelers… I’m a 1/4 inch guy too, and I can’t really begin to wrap my head around how some of that digital shit works lol… so I just stick to what I know, which is guitar, a good amp with a nice distortion channel, and a few pedals on the floor in front of me
Both of these guys have awesome guitar tones and Myles voice is one of the most interesting vocal tones I have ever heard. i love the music these two guys create.
I went to see them in Nashville around that time that year. I wonder if this was the same show? Fantastic band and super professional musicians. Definitely recommend. Edit. This is definitely the show I was at. Saw more of the venue when they were showing pedal boards.
Please do switchfoot!!! They have been a band / touring / writing killer albums for like 15 years!!! Such amazing tone and they have so much cool gear I would love to see a switchfoot rig rundown!!! Thanks!!!
I like the way Mark thinks and talks gear, never took to digital modelling even is Kemper is the best out there. Looking forward to seeing Alter Bridge for the first time live on the weekend!
I really admire Mike Tremonti, killer guitar player and got down to earth and cool personalty. but after seeing he has dimebag sticker on his guitar I got a whole new level of respect for Mike. you're awesome man and R.I.P Dimebag Darrell
Mark just seems like a nice guy. I have never been the biggest fan of him, not that i don't like his stuff..just really haven 't gotten too deep into his playing. Yeah, just seems like a cool down to earth guy who loves music and playing guitar...very cool
Full blood pros like Mark are the only people that can claim they hear the difference between a Kemper and the real deal and I would never doubt the man.
I love how John just grabs guitars with the utmost respect… I say this a lot and others do to but John is the best human ever. If we ever cross paths there will be a hug no handshake😂
Got to be honest I have never really listened to any of Mark Tremonti's music but damn, his little PRS lunchbox amp absolutely rules! Bought that thing on a total whim and expected it to live at the space but I ended up bringing it home and I use it all the time. Thing is sick.
I hear a lot of Slash's influence on Myles's soloing style, you know, in the licks, bendings and stuff, probably because they have work in 3 albums together...
Saw AB in Nashville in February 2020. Mark and Myles are amazing. Brian and Flip are the best! Best damn show ever! I’ve seen Pink Floyd, Rush, etc. No one has rocked like AB!
Premier Guitar, this interviewer, deserves some kind of raise or recognition or something. He's literally one of the most casual, friendly and passionate interviewers I've ever seen. Always good watching him interview my favourite guitarists.
Rawnfella agreed
Rawnfella YES I totally agree. Jon Bolinger is the man. so likable in all his goofiness. also an awesome bluse-rock guitarist himself!
He's Probably a better guitarist than most folks he interviews!
Yes such a cool dude..
Ahahah... Better than Myles or Mark ??? Stop drugs immediately !!!
Myles was my guitar teacher around 1997/98 . Spokane, WA baby!
Lucky!
Wowww! How was he as a teacher?
amazing bro
wow \m/
Kickass
I loved this rig run down. Thank you so much!
Phillip McKnight what shampoo do you use?
Guitar Polish
Phillip McKnight awesome, that's why I love your channel!
Phillip McKnight Hey phil !
What's so OMFG in that?
Myles and mark are always so gracious and well spoken. It's very refreshing to watch two artists be as articulate as they.
John is a spectacular interviewer as well, not to mention a wicked guitarist.
I knew Tremonti was amazing at guitar, but I have to admit I had no idea Myles was that good. Mad respect. Nice guys too.
Yeah alot of times we think of a rhythm player as only being good at rhythm work or bassist as only capable of bass, but I've seen many guys who seem to be just as incredible at another style of playing or another instrument as their primary one.

@@janicespeer106 The Mayfield Four opened for Creed back in the day...
He plays the main solo to Isolation and several other songs. I believe he also talked about being more of a guitarist that just happened to be a singer.
Great interviews by John as usual; very enthusiastic and lets the musicians do the talking!
I used to work for PRS. Remember seeing them making the prototype "explorer". I actually took a picture of the raw body. It is a three piece body. They used a left hand guitar, flipped it, and then extended the wood to make it look like an explorer.
I thought it looked like a lefty guitar flipped
Tremonti signature PRS amp coming out in March?! Sounds like a birthday present to myself.
Same! :D
Word on the street I'd MESA snubbed him....
and now I hear the PRS Tremonti is slammin
Just heard about this amp. The PRS MT15 and it’s gotten great reviews.
Why didn't you guys interview Brian too??? The bassist needs some love!!
I feel like they maybe asked but dude looks so shy.
I hope he's not shy he works in real estate lol
He is not shy, just a quiet guy
Premier GUITAR
its the nature of the bassist
I wish I could live life as perpetually stoked as John. Always love these vids, thanks!
PRS legacy is paved with its love for their artists. The first production single cuts from them came from giving a young guitarist in a big new band a signature. They take features their artists want on their customs and they put them on their production guitars. I love this company.
I just watched 3x times in a row. Great rundown and John's doing awesome interviews. Nice job!
I worked at a furniture store in Orlando Florida. One week after quitting, my friend who still was working there, called and told me that they just delivered to Mark. He said one room was full of guitars and amps. He also said that Mark was just a regular guy. Should have stayed another week.
Both of these guys are real laid back. This was fun to watch
Man, John has come a long way hasn't he? Back when he was almost universally hated but now he's made a name for himself while keeping his signature genuine excitement for all things guitar.
Please keep him around!
8:31 “I went up to the office, and went into the office.”
-Mark Tremonti
Lol
Alter bridge is just amazing, love these guys and their rigs.
popular alter bridge tunings. Eb standard. Drop Db. D Standard. Drop C. Drop Bb (BbAbDbGbBbEb), Open Db 5 (DbAbDbAbDbDb. There are a few others that are weirder but live they tend to consolidate into these ones.
Drop Bb is Bb F Bb Eb G C lol
That is correct, but Alter Bridge uses the variation that I posted above for most of their songs in Bb, Come to Life, Broken Wings, Still Remains, farther than the sun, etc.
drumkidstu ohhh ok I see
@@samwardofficialmusic not for AB son
My favourite band by far! Great video! Great interviewer!
"Real tube amps sound better than modeling amps" - Mark Tremonti
Dan A ohhh yea!
Yupp! They always will, just like film will always be better than digital
I bet he still uses his johnson digital modeling amp
Was waiting for a rundown on what Myles uses. Thanks Premier Guitar!!!
Myles is a legit player. I had know idea. Great!
YordMusic Saw him play acoustically and he is terrific. Don’t really like the acoustic guitar he is using in this rig rundown.
Oooooohh yeah, finally! Thanks A LOT, Premier Guitar! I've been waiting for so long for this rig rundown.
This dude have the best sounding distortion I've ever listened. Both in studio or live.
@DereMemo you haven't heard much then obviously.
These guys are awesome! Love when the artists take the time to do the rundowns
If Premier Guitar ever reads these, your interviewer in this video was great. Loves the music, lets the guys talk, enthusiastic about his job. Give him a raise and make him a staple!
9:50 Haha xD These kind of interviews are awesome. Mark is a guitar god! My inspiration since childhood - The good old Creed days!
Thank you @PremierGuitar, thank you for this awesome rigdown. 🤘🤘🤘
Incredibly awesome for Miles to show some of his tones in this, one of my favourite bands without a doubt. Finally get to see them live in Glasgow next month, excitement levels off the charts after hearing those tones, instantly recognisable songs
Thank you for this video. Great to finally get to see Mark's prototype guitar up close.
Love all these interviews! He does a great job!👍
I’d love to have been a fly on the wall when E-Rock (Eric Friedman) walked into the studio with his Kemper profiling amp when they recorded the latest Tremonti record 😂
Mark is going to have a signature amp from the PRS - that's a great news!
I just bought one, it's insane.
I see some questions about what kind of picks the band uses, Myles uses Tortex 1.14 mm picks. I caught one of them at a gig in October.
What's the bond between Mark Tremonti and Kerry King ? Both got Dime's pic on their rigs! Kerry on his Marshall amp, Mark on his PRS guitar !
3:56 Seth Morison of skillet admiring Mark from the distance
the best rig rundown right here....Mark and Myles totally awesome guys..
I can barely understand what ever they are talking about lol. But for some reason this is fun to watch.
Wow both of them are incredible. Myles is my favorite Frontman right now and the Tremonster is one of the finest guitar players in metal right now
Wow they've really simplified their North American rigs! The big euro rigs are probably just too much for the venues they play here (which is a shame). Loved that Myles demoed a lot of his tones though! Great rundown on both rigs.
CJSchecter96 mark said that he got used to a smaller rig with his solo work
+Oisin McPhillips yeah but I've also seen pictures of their current tour in Europe and they have their full rigs. They've had two for the past couple years so they don't need to ship them back and forth.
CJSchecter96 That was not the 'full' rig there where just more cabs staying around.
I like how Myles just goes ham on his guitar playing and then when he's done he's like "yeah it's nothing crazy" lol.
I'm still waiting for rig rundown with Les Claypool.
Us too! He's passed the last three times, but we're not giving up.
Aren't we all
Man that is lame! Makes me dislike him...
Did anyone else see Seth Morrison of Skillet in the background.
I did
same here
Yep👍
Yes I did
Cool!
Damn, I'm coming back here all the time.. Just like John said, they both got an unbelievable individual sound!
Thanks I really enjoyed this video, Miles is such a cool dude and a great artist, I saw him with slash and he was amazing, good job premier guitar
Art Sal he and slash go together great. Almost as good as the beginning of gnr with axl.
love the guy in the background remembered the PRS amp and put it on last minute
Cool stuff, both rigs sound great! Love the pedals too.
love this. hope to get a tremonti signature in the near future.
I agree with Mark about the wireless packs and amp modelers… I’m a 1/4 inch guy too, and I can’t really begin to wrap my head around how some of that digital shit works lol… so I just stick to what I know, which is guitar, a good amp with a nice distortion channel, and a few pedals on the floor in front of me
I find it a coincidence that Seth Morrison from Skillet is in this video standing in the background. What are the odds of that?!?!?!
David Rose I didn't notice it until he tweeted it 😂😂😂😂.
It's funny because he plays Tremonti's as well
Abraham Lendechy I thought he just played singlecuts, not Tremontis. lol
It's like reading another team's playbook. CHEATING! Lol
This is one of the best interviewers on youtube, kudos to you dude! great episode :)
They are so cool. No ego. Very inspiring.
I knew Myles was an amazing singer (see his work w/ Slash), but I didn't know he was a monster guitar player too! What a talent this guy!!
Lucky to have played Tremonti's #1 at one of his teaching sessions.
ok
im a strat guy but I fucking love Mark's tone
The Puertorican Beast Jonathan Ayala everybody does
The funny thing is that im the complete opisset of mark, I like kempers and hear no difference with a wireless unit
Mark Tremonti is the guitarist you think you're too cool to like until you hear him play
he is just a badass
Meh I can honestly say I hear zero difference
I love that Mark's cabs are miced up with Heil PR40s, which are totally underrated as a guitar mic.
Both of these guys have awesome guitar tones and Myles voice is one of the most interesting vocal tones I have ever heard. i love the music these two guys create.
Such a phenomenal player and humble guy
Tremonti has an awesome live sound 🔥
The kings of rock! Loved this episode!
I love how Myles went into.... “watch over you” with the acoustic in that open D tuning
OMG I LOVE MARK T. Been a fan of him since Creed. Thanks guys for this video.
I went to see them in Nashville around that time that year. I wonder if this was the same show? Fantastic band and super professional musicians. Definitely recommend.
Edit. This is definitely the show I was at. Saw more of the venue when they were showing pedal boards.
I ll Never put a picture of any man in my Black SG
but respects to the man
Tremonti is a good player with a good Tone
It's awesome to know that I have the exact same triple rec Tremonti does lol didn't even try
John you totally redeemed yourself on this interview. Great job pal!
I love that he proudly talks about the red one being 25.5” scale length being a baritone, like… that’s just standard Fender length. haha
Enjoyed this one for some reason. Good Crunch tones! Kinda makes me wanna look into a PRS!
Please do switchfoot!!! They have been a band / touring / writing killer albums for like 15 years!!! Such amazing tone and they have so much cool gear I would love to see a switchfoot rig rundown!!! Thanks!!!
I would Love to see this!
xXGuitarGuyPFCXx switchfoot has the best live tone I have ever heard. Fantastic musicians as well.
We filmed one and it should be online in the next 2-3 weeks! Sit tight...
Premier Guitar you're joking. THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS IS MY FAV BAND EVER. YES.
Yes!!! Glad you mentioned Switchfoot! My favorite band everrrr!
Word on the mean streets of Bend, Oregon is that these guys are quite good
I like the way Mark thinks and talks gear, never took to digital modelling even is Kemper is the best out there. Looking forward to seeing Alter Bridge for the first time live on the weekend!
See you in July Vancouver Canada awaits you Myles 🥰🙌
I really admire Mike Tremonti, killer guitar player and got down to earth and cool personalty. but after seeing he has dimebag sticker on his guitar I got a whole new level of respect for Mike. you're awesome man and R.I.P Dimebag Darrell
Mark is one of the nicest guys, and an awesome player
I wish they covered what wireless connection Miles is using.
good enough for him, must be way good for little ol' me
Mark is such a great player.
Mark just seems like a nice guy. I have never been the biggest fan of him, not that i don't like his stuff..just really haven 't gotten too deep into his playing. Yeah, just seems like a cool down to earth guy who loves music and playing guitar...very cool
".. it's called the 'A-rig' but it's the B-rig..."
BWWWWHAHAHAHAH!!! Fabulous rundown.
Its not that funny.
Ford Driver yah it is pretty funny ! what’s not funny is your dipshit comment
Awesome run down! Thanks!
nice to see that little rocker in the background at 21:37
Seth Morrison of Skillet!
Myles and Mark doing their own rundowns. Solid.
Full blood pros like Mark are the only people that can claim they hear the difference between a Kemper and the real deal and I would never doubt the man.
I love how John just grabs guitars with the utmost respect… I say this a lot and others do to but John is the best human ever. If we ever cross paths there will be a hug no handshake😂
i never like Mark's dirty tone but his clean tone, oh boy. Gonna miss those Fender Twins.
So glad John did this interview
Has anyone else notice Seth Morrison from skillet in the background when he's interviewing Tremonti?
Great interview man, props.
i know he probably not intended at all, but Myles' look whilst John's introduction looks just pitifull ^^
Love his A/B-Whatever Rig :D
Got to be honest I have never really listened to any of Mark Tremonti's music but damn, his little PRS lunchbox amp absolutely rules! Bought that thing on a total whim and expected it to live at the space but I ended up bringing it home and I use it all the time. Thing is sick.
Would be cool a rig rundown of his Tremonti live rig 😁
Damn John you make Mark look small and I know he's like 6'1! Great rig rundown!
I hear a lot of Slash's influence on Myles's soloing style, you know, in the licks, bendings and stuff, probably because they have work in 3 albums together...
I love the little people running around in the background xD
Best show on TH-cam, the one on the Edges pedalboard SHREDS
Been waiting for this rig rundown for soo long, but I'm missing Brian Marshall's bass rig
Some guys have very sharp sight and memory. Until I read the comments I won't realize that Seth Morrison of Skillet is standing in the background
Saw AB in Nashville in February 2020. Mark and Myles are amazing. Brian and Flip are the best! Best damn show ever! I’ve seen Pink Floyd, Rush, etc. No one has rocked like AB!
Love it! keeping it all analog
