Did u know when the colonialists arrived in (Zimbabwe) they tried to remove the mbira. They said it invoked the spirits. That is exactly what Mbuya Stella Chiweshe did, if you ever heard her play in Zimbabwe you will understand. May her spirit be free in every mbira ever played. My heart is broken that we have lost a legend, a woman, really a sangoma, as she healed through music. Mama Africa 🙏🏼
I play this mbira trip when in work or home and when in work I became so productive and when at home I feel absolutely alive and happy. The sound of mbira brings the best in me
absolutely, this mbira trip was my go to during my studies and when i wrote my dissertation. I cannot listen to any other music and concentrate while I work except this track.

Growing up I used to dismiss quite out of hand Mbuya Chiweshe's music. Having come full circle and started appreciating mbira music and started having mbira lessons myself, I'm suddenly wrapped up by this soulful offering. Such a powerful satire of Zimbabwean culture. No mbira lesson is complete without listening to this lady's music. indeed you are a gift to the Zimbabwean people.. I really wish they realised what they are missing whilst they stampede to enrich later-day Prophets
amazing how colonisation sits deep in our psyche, that we as children we can dismiss our greatness, but how wonderful too that you can come full circle and give credit and appreciate how wonderfully spiritual we are. Thank you Stella too! I love you immensely though am not from Zimbabwe but an African nevertheless!!!! Amen!
listening to this has brought me to tears. Zimbabwe is so blessed to have soulful, soothing and mind calming remedial music. why is it the Young generation look down upon it. m porudly_zimbabwean.

"When I first listened to the mbira sound, I wanted to hear more and more. I could not stop it, I was sick until I learned to play, so I could hear these sounds." - Stella Chiweshe (also Stella Rambisai Chiweshe, Stella Rambisai Chiweshe Nekati, or Stella Nekati Chiweshe) born in Zimbabwe, lived in Berlin, Germany for 35 years up until her death, learned to play the Mbira when it was forbidden for a woman to play the instrument and also the colonial regime had banned any cultural activities. What is mbira the instrument? Mbira is both the name of the instrument and the overall music for the Shona people from Zimbabwe. The mbira dzaVadzimu, the classic Zimbabwean thumb-piano, is a medium for playing songs handed down from generation to generation for centuries, used for maintaining contact with the spirits of the Shona people. It is used for nearly every occasion: weddings, funerals, healing, ceremonies for the ancestors, meditations, concerts, etc.
