This one's from 1998. The album was Hello Nasty. The video, while not from a movie, was inspired by old Japanese kaiju (giant monster) movies. Probably the most famous kaiju movie is Godzilla (1954) and its many sequels, spinoffs and reboots.
@@Lg3-Snow For real? I thought that was the most widely known fact about Godzilla aside from being a giant reptile-like creature. Fun fact: The original concept for Godzilla during early development of the 1954 film was going to be some kind of gorilla whale, hence the name ("Godzilla" is a mishearing of "Gojira", which is a portmanteau of "gorira" and "kujira", which are Japanese words for "gorilla" and "whale"). The idea was abandoned in favor of a pseudo-dinosaur concept, but the name was kept.
The Beastie Boys wanted to be like RUN-DMC, who they worked with a lot in the beginning of their career, and helped solidify Def Jam records as a legit label. I would consider them as carrying the torch from those early times, and influence that made them the group they became.
The giant robot and villian he is fighting is specifically a tribute to a kids show in the late 60s - “Johnny Soko and his flying robot”. Videos are available on youtube and you’ll see how close it is. The effects in the “intergalactic” video are made to be retro(bad on purpose), it was not indicative of the effects available at the time they shot the video.
These guys may not have created the genre, but they took it to the next level. To talk about the Beastie Boys you have to bow to them they were, are and will forever be GODS of rap and hip hop
Great reaction 🔥 You should definitely check out a few more like “Sure Shot”, “So Watcha Want”, “Pass the Mic”, “Get it Together” feat Q Tip, “ Shake your Rump” are ones you need to see, and so many more 🔥🔥🔥
Not from a movie, they paid homage to the old Godzilla/Ultra Man movies from the 70'/80's. Also ship-hop started out with fun and telling your story...not being all hard and act all bad. If yo uwant to see fun watch Rhymin' & Stealin' Official Video and then do Give Ch-Check it Out, High Plaines Drifter, Get it Together.
On a side note that doesn't matter: I'm almost 50, and Staci is, no exaggeration, one of the top 5 most beautiful women I've seen. Ever. And now back to our regularly scheduled programming...
The parts when they are in the city were shot in Tokio. The Beasties videos are always fun and original, actually Adam Yauch (MCA) was the director of 99% of them, under the name of his alter ego "Nathaniel Hornblower" a character created by them who is supposedly MCA's Swiss uncle, and only wears a traditional folk "Swiss" attire. 🤣Please react to these other bangers by the Beasties: "Pass the Mic", "Sure Shot", "Alive", "So What'Cha Want", "Sabotage", "An Open Letter to NYC", "Gratitude", "Right Right Now Now," and "Too Many Rappers" (feat. Nas) all classics with awesome lyrics. BTW most of their official music videos have the lyrics availabe in the closed captions.😉
@@MiyuMedia oh shit, I must have just seen it on here before then! I thought it was from somewhere else 😂 Kinda reminds me of Enid in the movie (and the comic) Ghost World
@@JayPhonomancer yeah, i've posted a lot of comments in almost every Beasties reaction 🤣🤣 Nice, i love that movie, i'm in my mid-to late 30s so Ghost World was part of my late teens 🤗💕
They gave LL cool J a spot that got him blown up!!!!! Major influence to the rap game, they started out as a punk band also. Love your reactions, thanks 😊
You should react to Sabotage by beastie boys. It's a bit more or a rock type of song and the music video plays omage to 70's and 80's cop shows i.e. Hawaii 5-0. Also, this video was shot in a train station in Tokyo.
Great reaction, you need to check out Shake Your Rump. You knew they were a punk band originally, right? I think they bring that energy to their rapping. I haven't seen all their vids, but the ones I've seen, they use 3 cameras and just any old location, (rooftops ,streets, basement, etc.). It makes it feel really gritty.

Paul’s Boutique is a great album to react to by them. I suggest Hey Ladies, Car Thief, and 3 Minute Rule. Whole album is a masterclass in sample usage. Too many samples haha 🔥🔥🔥🧯🚒🚒🧯🔥
You only had so many tools back then. There was no cell phones or interwebs. You had to make the best of what you got on your budget and change it up and whoever changed it up and scratched the best got money.
Big fan! Y’all need to react to some classic rock songs! I can provide you with some of the greatest/most influential hits just respond and I’ll send you some!

@@ultimate_psychologist Power Rangers is based on repurposed footage from Japanese Sentai TV shows, which in turn are descended from kaiju cinema.
The robot isn't break dancing he is "poppin' and lockin'"
