When I was younger, my family had some clergy over, one being a younger monk. He asked to play my dad's guitar, and played Metallica. My mind was blown.
My dad and I will be dancing to this performance at my wedding. We were absolutely touched by the quality of the sound and how moving every note is. An absolutely beautiful rendition of one of our favorite songs.
Pretty sure james hetfield studied classical music at Juilliard university. He definitely had some schooling in classical guitar, and this song is the only metallica song written completely and totally by him. It is an extremely classical song. Pretty cool story behind this song actually. Lars was walking by as James was playing it and basically made him make it a Metallica song.. Glad too. It is one of my favorites of all time.
@@MalazanTiborio i think its important to consider the nuances of the playing by a virtuoso. to play the same piece with the same notes in the same speed as he does, does maybe need 3-5 years. but you cant be as good as him in 3-5 years, you know what i mean? even in simple pieces you can hear the differnce of a master and an intermediate/beginner player

I was really enjoying this performance, right until, in the corner of my eye, I saw my guitar get up off it's stand and walk out of the room. All I heard was a very feint "your'e not worthy" and then it was gone! Truly magical.
My son in law used to be able to play it spot on and it gave me goose bumps every time I heard him play it. And it was on an acoustic guitar with steel strings so it sounded great. This is very good but I never find nylon strings' sound appealing.
This is the best cover I ever seen, not just replaying the song, and not making it different. Just making it sound perfect. This is exactly how I would play it.

Thunderstruck There was a doco made “a year in the life of Metallica” that covered how Kirk had to find inspiration to write the solo. To this day the solo is so amazing, such a great play on emotional notes, it kind of just takes you away for 30 seconds, but returns you so gently back into the song afterward.
As someone who likes rock/metal and classical guitar this is true inspiration. As an older chap (48) I am learning the guitar. This is the sort of stuff that helps.
I don't think you will find many classical renditions of metal songs. That being my point. I'm sure there may be other pieces done in a similar way, likely with 5,000 views.

However, Death Magnetic reminds me of ...and Justice for All in regards to the complexity and length of song. Hardwired is very refreshing too with several great songs: Halo on Fire, Spit out the Bone, Moth to Flame, etc.
...And Justice For All is my favorite album, but to each their own. The only thing they put out that I didn't care for was St. Anger and that's just because of the recording quality. I never jumped on the bandwagon when everyone shunned them. Load and Reload were both good albums. They just weren't metal albums.

When I was young, teachers and priests wouldn't stop yelling that rock and heavy metal are evil music. And now I'm listening to this man playing Metallica in a church and, nothing else matters.
The religion in Denmark is also much more tolerant over things people love. They’re not going to judge what type of music you like (ofc there’s maybe some who does but that’s a minority). And a priest can also be married or be a woman in danish church.

...And Justice For All is my favorite album, but to each their own. The only thing they put out that I didn't care for was St. Anger and that's just because of the recording quality. I never jumped on the bandwagon when everyone shunned them. Load and Reload were both good albums. They just weren't metal albums.

I hardy know anything about the technicality of music. But I feel that something about this is perfect. It aligns with something in my brain so much than any other cover of this song I have ever heard.

When I was young, teachers and priests wouldn't stop yelling that rock and heavy metal are evil music. And now I'm listening to this man playing Metallica in a church and, nothing else matters.
The religion in Denmark is also much more tolerant over things people love. They’re not going to judge what type of music you like (ofc there’s maybe some who does but that’s a minority). And a priest can also be married or be a woman in danish church.
