    It seems that every toy company that has even attempted at briging Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man from "No Way Home" to life, they've been met with harsh licensing issues and having to use loopholes to make it happen. Did Bandai SH Figuarts manage to overcome this hurdle and deliver a definitive 6 inch Andrew Spider-Man figure?

    I trickled regular dish soap into my Tobey figures joints with a toothpick and then moved the joints and he’s butter smooth now. Basically just take a tooth pick dip the point in the bottle and then let the soap trickle into the joints, then move the joint around until you’re satisfied with how it moves.

    looking at some shots of Garfield in costume the bow leg is pretty spot on tbh. also the neck is sitting a little high due to the peg it uses. it's customizable. I did it on mine. The head is also similar size to Tom and Tobey. Only thing is Andrew's mask has a smaller front area due to costume design

    Also in the behind the scenes in lighting similar to this you’d realize the red is accurate on this figure shine and all but the blue is too bright. These figures in general tend to represent their appearances in their solo films than no way home and I’m honestly okay with that

    Just had to stop to point out this mistake the costume is the same one they used in tasm 2 andrew said it on a few videos with him, tom and tobey and tom mentioned it few months after saying andrew was able to re-use the same suit from his film as there was nothing wrong with it and that tom and tobey was little jealous of andrew having wrist zippers, just wanted to let you know so the metallic red is correct to nwh and tasm 2, the only reason it looked more darker in the film was because it was at night go back to the scene at ned's you can see that it is a metallic red

    The thing about this figure that looks really weird is his waist is WAY to long. I’m not sure if his legs are also to short or the torso makes them look short, but whatever it is, it really throws of the proportions for me

    I’m quite happy with my marvel legends Andrew. It just looks amazing and I feel it captures the build of andrew better than figuarts, the head alone makes it look nicer. The colours are great aswell, the legends one had darker metallic red and dark blue. When I’m thinking about how accurate it is to the movie I’m pretty sure Andrew had two different suits when filming tasm 2, one that was lighter and one that was darker for the night time scenes. It’s still a nice suit with whatever tones of red and blue that get chosen for each shot.

    I find the claim of the "$80" price tag is a bit disingenuous, the figure retailed in Japan for ¥7700 which is around $56/£42. That's the intended retail cost of the figure in it's domestic market and with shipping it still wouldn't hit close to $80. I respect you as a reviewer but these claims that the these figures are so much is just spreading misinformation and setting false standards for collectors who are new to Japanese brands.

    • @FrankW1029
      @FrankW1029 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      pretty much this. american reviews don't realize other collectors has been paying 30 for ML for ages and SHF and Mafex for $50-60.

    • @Trazyn_the_Hoarder
      @Trazyn_the_Hoarder ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Disagree. I live in Europe and have to pay 90-100€ for the Garfield Spidey because of the transportation and taxes. There's no way around it.
      Yes, the initial price of the figure might be roughly 50-60$, so we can't expect it to have 80-100$ worth quality. But it's the same other was around. There's a lot of things I could get for 80-100$, and a 50-60$ figure isn't the best of those things. Particularly not when as of recently, Figuarts dropped the ball on QC for almost all of their action figure lines.
      And even if you wouldn't need to deal with the European shipping costs and customs issue. Before the war in Ukraine broke out shipping cost me roughly 10€ and I would get my stuff within 2 week. Let's say there is a similar shipping option for the US, so it would be 56$ + 10$. Then, last time I needed something shipped from China to a Californian address, I got charged a sales tax which was roughly 7%. Same tax would've resulted in a 5$ upcharge on this SHF Spidey. So you're already at a 71$ pricetag for a 56$ dollar figure. Not as dramatic, but close enough to the 80$ claim.
      It might not be "intended" that way, but this is what their customers are getting. A 56$ very basic Spidey with potential QC issues at a price of 70-100$, depending on where you live.

    • @crusaderfigures7851
      @crusaderfigures7851 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Trazyn_the_Hoarder well that's something you have to consider yourself if the figure is worth the extra cost but reviewers should be objective and review the £42 figure as a £42 figure.
      I live in the UK and have to weigh up shipping costs but there's ways to keep shipping low and I still judge a figure on it's domestic MSRP because it's only fair

    • @Trazyn_the_Hoarder
      @Trazyn_the_Hoarder ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You have a point, but a reviewer is not reviewing a production sample. Most of them are collectors like us who face budgeting and space issues, so you do need to consider the overall expenses. It's like reviewing a vacation spot and saying that it's fair priced, but then for most people who might be interested in the said location the travelling costs are extremely high. So what's the point of saying that it's "fair priced" when most people it's going to be unaffordable and too much trouble traveling?
      What you're saying makes more sense when comparing products between companies or between releases within the same company. You can say that "The original price of the ML Spider-Man Three Pack is 90$ vs. 56$ for the SHF Garfield Spidey. 56$ for an import figure is a much fairer price than 30$ for a Legends figure", or you can say "Tamashii's Spider-Verse figures are overpriced, because Tamashii released a much bigger Broly for a similar price tag just a couple of years ago & he had better QC".
      It would also make more sense if we were talking about an old release that got rare and is now being sold for a 300% upmark. Here you can say that it's not fair to judge the figure by the market value, because it only roughly reflects rarity and desirability of a certain release.
      But what we're talking about here is accessibility, which is a factor companies have to consider before they start production. That's what they're banking on when they make exclusive releases. With regular releases you have to consider how much extra cash your customers will be willing to spend, and how many hoops they'll be willing to jump through to get your product. General observation is that many brands are upcharging their products while dropping the quality. And Tamashii is certain enough about their sales inspite of rising prices, dropping QC and extra expenses for their customers on top of all of that.
      I guess there are different approaches to reviewing a product. But you can't ignore the circumstantial factors. We're not toy engineers or plain action figure enthusiasts. Most of us are collectors with limited budget who have expenses outside of our hobby. The total cost of figures literally defines what and how much we can collect.

    • @crusaderfigures7851
      @crusaderfigures7851 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Trazyn_the_Hoarder I get overall expense is an important factor for everyone but what they're willing to spend over MSRP is entirely subjective a reviewers job is to be objective and to be truly objective you have to review the product at MSRP and leave the viewers to factor in whether or not they're willing to pay whatever added costs that come with obtaining the figure. If someone spend £50 on a standard GI Joe figure on the aftermarket would you expect it to be reviewed as a £50 figure? No because it's not been made to be some for that much, so why should it be the case for imported figures?
