This build isn’t shocking. It’s just a hp stacking build. It makes sense to run because Vlad relies on hp so Grasp is perfect for him despite the ranged nerf.

just wanted to mention that it's actually better to Q > R not R > Q. Q has a cast time but R doesn't so if you press R immediately after Q, you still get the bonus damage from R and it's slightly faster.
Makes sense though. They're targeting him, he goes into pool so they target the closest thing (turret) and the path that leads there the fastest would be around the jg wall.
@@scrubadubchuck You can actually manipulate the lane pretty nicely with Anivia there in similar manner. You put the wall between the lower wall and turret, you stand between the upper wall and turret and the minions will want to go through the jungle

i mained vladimir before and honestly he was in a bad state after mythic changes and being very weak, with cosmic being bad and ghost nerfed but this build feels so gross and just nasty as it skips the challegne and you can play this so uninteractive and take over at two items.
I remember calling this when Phreak announced the changes. The problem with Vlad is that he is always either underpowered or overpowered, he's so sensitive to balance changes that slight adjustments are prone to drastically affect his viability. If Phreak was anything other than a narcissist, he would have listened to the community and instated the changes they actually wanted (movement speed) and we wouldn't have this oppressive build.
@@ashiok Question, why wasn't W max a thing before the buffs? If vlad lvl 9 is full clearing a wave with W and healing 600 hp, it'd just go down to 300 pre-buffs. Wouldn't that make vlad already incredibly oppressive where he can full clear the wave and heal 1/3 of his hp at lvl 9(instead of half of his hp the way it is rn).
Cool tip: against darius aery scorch and lucid boots into cosmic drive stormsurge rabadons (or cryptbloom of buys lots of mr). You can poke him out and outrange him, also if plays around bushes e hits him inside ;)
Played vs this build as voli. Got 2 solo kills but he ends up becoming unkillable and you can't touch his tower since his w 100 to 0 the wave. Bes thing to do is push into him, then look for a good roam into the enemy then catch the waves with tp
I saw this live on the stream. Vlad has no prio before first item. He couldn’t contest grubs and skirmishes in the early game but being Elite500 he just became a monster in the late game.
Riot quickly decides to nerf anything that isnt fighting your laner 24/7 like a monkey, they love the game to be high action so that pro play isnt just a boring mess, this is uninteractive gameplay which is fun for the person playing it, but not for the one on the receiving end

Build kinda sucks but it is useful in some counter matchups, yeah the healing is good but you are worthless outside of lane, Vlad doesn't scale like he used to and he kinda relies on getting a decent lead over the enemy top.
Vlad is one of the best scaler in the game IF you know how to farm decently. And elite is known for missing very few CS, even letting his all team die early just to keep getting his gold income. Then he 1v9 the game past mid/late game.

I Tried this Build in Low Elo(im S2 Btw). 3 things i learned/notice or maybe im just bad.. 1. Weak against early champs like Dar,Sett and Yas 2. Good/Great VS tank or scaler like urselft (ex. Skarner, Sion and Morde) 3. Even/Good VS Ranged. except Quinn IG since i cant see where can i use W to sustain. I just blind pick Vlad then change rune with the matchup since below they accept to swap to make u last ppick or smthng.
it is acutally weak against most champ in early game, as dobby said the build is more of a consistant build to outscale and out sustain the enemy rather than playing agressive early on
I love sustain lanes. It's great how players mitigate any form of lane interaction by healing to full after every wave. I love how fleet, absorb life, second wind and d-shield made everyone able to stay in lane forever. Same with warmogs mundo or reksai top earlier this year or corrupting pot years ago.

Riot has explicitly stated that there are many broken things that they know are broken but they don't touch because people are just not playing it (Zilean being the common example).

Had a few Vlad players already trying this out against me in Ranked (Plat Elo) and kinda running it. I picked Cho against it and they were never a factor in the games
It is a weak build according to stats, 46.9% winrate with this max order this patch (gold+ for larger sample size). I mean, Vladimir winrate just dropped hard because of this build. He had 52.15% winrate in toplane, 14.16 patch. Now, in 14.18, he has 47.52%. (emerald+ stats here). I wrote a very big comment under this video, explaining everything, but it didn't go through for some reason, so yeah, this is a short one.
As the person above me said , this is because thousands of new Vlad players try this build and int with it. The same reason why some champs are pick or ban in high elo/pro play and have shit winrates in SoloQ

The only thing popularity gives is a sample size and lowers winrate fluctuations. One of the recent examples is Shyvana build. According to your logic, Shyvana winrate should've go down after new shojin-liandries build boom. It didn't happen. If something, it was other way around - Shyvana got a lot of winrate and was nerfed 2 patches later. Or another example - adc Brand. He had very low pickrate with very high winrate. Then, someone discovered Nami-Brand duo and people started to play Brand adc. What do you think happened with his winrate? It's actually remained the same (well, almost, -0.5% winrate due to hitbox changes). The reason why some champs are pick or ban in pro play and have bad winrates in soloq is mostly because pros feel comfortable to play these champions and they believe that they're strong, most likely they believe in it because of experience that they had in scrims. Sadly, it doesn't work like that. Soloq winrates are showing the power of the champion and it works for pro play too, unless champion has a very high skill expession or relies on communication (like Ryze with his ultimate). After all, we're playing the same game with the same rules.
Real quick, this build is NOT as easy to play as it seems. With all the new players trying out Elite's W max build and failing because of the difficulty, I think the win rate of Vladimir is not going much higher. Knowing RIOT they are not going to hit Vlad with a nerf (or a big one) because the spike in winrate is not clear.
This build is deceptively hard. If you expect to 1st try it in ranked I am pretty sure you will run it down few games at the very least. You have to have good wave control and matchup knowledge to utilize W correctly because it is pretty much your only skill for early game. My recommendation ( as well as Elite's) if you are new to Vlad try out his "normal" builds first and after getting a grasp on the champion and it's limits you can W max much better

Yorick is definitely a counter to Vlad. His W traps Vad so even if Vlad uses w he can't get away.

actually its not only about the buff, but Vlad W for the longest time has had a bug where it straight up did not heal, and they fixed that.

winrate is going down because thousands of people that never or rarely played vladimir picked him up. Its normal. Build is good

Darius also have sustain, the bleed stays when Vlad W, and he can R him if he gets too low life
because darius is a one shot machine, vladmir need phase rush, and dont have mobility, every champ with no mobility o hard cc is free kill

This is the worst thing that has ever happened i have had whole day people running it down on vlad being GIGA useless playing this build. Does no dmg, cant skirmish and just perma splitpush while dying. Seen like 6 vladmirs in past 24hours everyone inting.
People have this unrealistic expectation to 1v9 due to his unkillable trait. Like getting drunk in power or something. Especially to new players who still don't understand macro plays and just straight up looking for fights randomly to show off.
