    Canada has near 80 Leopard 2 tanks. 20 are battle ready. Canada has 4 Victoria class submarines. All are drydocked in need of repair. We have dated CF 18 Hornets from 1982. Its time to step up quit sending billions away to other countries when we cant even defend our own.

      All our so called defense spending is literally to defend other countries. We get no benefit from it as we do not have the tax dollars from such a small population to defend such a monstrous border. If someone like trump or pootin wants to take over Canada, they could.     If the Liberals would forget about their Socialistic doctrine and put the money into our defense spending then our Canada will be better off. Maybe release the power and dollars of Canada's O& G sector and we will have more than enough $$ to equip our armed services.     Spend the money. Canada has been a major participant in every major commonwealth conflict. Canada was amongst the most capable militaries in both world wars. We need to be ready to show our strength as a strong and free nation and defend western values like our 4 fathers did so proudly. Spend the 2 percent and stop sending it to foreign countries we must be ready to defend ourselves and our allies.
    2 years Conscription for every male 17 to 20. It has large social positives. In brings our mosaic together in a military brotherhood. Canada should have a really strong military.

    Seven years ago, at the London NATO summit, Trudeau misinformed Trump about Canada's defence spending being 1.4% of GDP, which was our target for 2024-5, not our actual spending, which was 1.3% or less. And he isn't even going to match that projected estimate. You can't believe anything Trudeau says about spending. These differences look small, but when you are talking about 0.1% shares of GDP you are talking about billions of dollars.

    It's sad that we have boat loads of cash to hand out to immigrants, to put them in hotels and give them everything they need but we can't take care of our own defense commitments. The world is in turmoil right now and we should be building our capabilities and our military strength to be able to defend our country and our allies should it be necessary.

      We have also lost a fighter training squadron in CFB Cold Lake recently and now train our depleted CAF pilots in Texas! How we have fallen under this regime, it almost fells that we are being disarmed on purpose.

    Mark Norman was a victim of Trudeau's mistake. He was wronged, but fortunately he won the case. After the settlement, he retired.
    The failed prosecution of Norman had cost the taxpayer $1.4 million.

    I think most Canadians would be happy to use tax payers money on defence . We currently have Mounties in skirts, CAF with tampons, police with rainbow cars. etc. I d like to see strong Canadians with guns.

      The Avril Arrow was not nor could it ever be turned into a fighter. It is waaaaayyyy too big to maneuver. It is 15 feet wider and 30 feet longer then the new F35's. It was a 1 trick pony - bee line in a straight line as fast as possible to intercept Russian bombers. The day the ICBM was invented (launch of Sputnik) was the day the Arrow was obsolete.

      Canada agreed to spend 2% of our GDP on National Defence in 2014 and reconfirmed our committment in 2021 to achieve that goal by 2024 ... so spend that 2% now not the 1.7% by 2029.
