How about a law that says "Before you add MORE taxes to Canadians, you have to stop giving money away to other nations."?
Not even giving away to other nation thats the priority. Look internal, look at arrivcan or consulting contract with pwc or mountain pipeline. These are so much waste created by the gov and no one is accountable for.
Yes, or maybe before adding new taxes, you must have the chance to campaign on it so the public can decide yes or no.

This is the most incompetent Government I have ever seen in my 70 years in this country. They can't do anything right.

My parents are in their 80's and think they are doing a great job. That's the real issue. They grew up in an era where all was sunshine and lolly pops and can not understand the challenges for anyone who is in the work force.

All of those Abacus polls don't go further west than Toronto. Do the polling from Thunder Bay and westward and I'm pretty sure it will be much higher for the conservative.

@@stratford374 If it's near the beaches north of Toronto they're mostly worth 500k minimum, a very few outliers for cheaper (for very specific reasons). Right now an empty lot in cottage area (with a bad beach nearby) is still worth 300k.
A decent cottage near a decent beachfront north of Toronto is 750k minimum.

How can the Conservatives maintain their 20 point momentum? (That question was asked last September as well.) The answer is quite simple: The Liberal mismanagement and scandals will keep providing all the ammunition the Conservatives need.

I am - well have been - a liberal voter my entire adult life until 2019… I did not trust him in 2015 but voted Trudeau anyway … I changed my vote in 2019 and cannot see it ever going back - this current roster has destroyed my liberal party and divided Canada in ways I couldn’t have imagined

There are 44,000 Canadians that file for capital tax. 95-98% are folks selling an asset to retire. This is their retirement income stream and they are getting screwed.
Which is why primary residences are excluded. Oh not to mention this change will actually *increase* the lifetime exemption by 25% (to $1,250,000). There are protections built in to protect normal Canadians.

Math is incorrect. How is .25 of 200K 135 . If you are on a variable rate mortage it equates to 500 dollars a year not 135 if your passes the entire .25 percent to you. The fact that 22% still say they are voting Liberal is unbelievable.
The underlying problem with Canada is the 41% of Canadians that would vote for either LPC or NDP. The Canadian government can be completely incompetent and still garner 22% support. I can not begin to find any common ground with 41% of Canadians.

I am a 69 year old welder fitter. I will definitely be affected by the capital gains tax. I guess I ate too much smoke and did not party enough.

Get over yourself. If you're clearing $250k of capital gains PROFIT each year you're doing fine. If you're selling your home, you're excluded. If you're selling a small business, you have a $1,250,000 exemption.
