It's really not that bad. The one thing that threw me off is the ass-backwards class system Bethesda decided to go with. An A Class reactor is actually the worst one, and the class of the reactor dictates the class of all of the other parts.

Honestly I prefer it. It doesn't always make sense, fighting with a sword in space. But the gunplay is so C- that it really feels better. But I felt the same way about Cyberpunk
@@atharvawaikar9730 Yeah, hard disagree. It's just bullet sponge enemies who don't react at all to getting shot with an actual bullet. There's no tactics at all. The bigger fights are just a mess. @@theengineoof that's such an odd take. The gunplay feels so much better than I expected for a Bethesda game. Im having a lot of fun as a space gunslinger. I guess to each their own
Can anyone help me figure out what putting more power into the Grav does while flying? Sometimes it'll have 4 bars highlighted and sometimes just one highlighted bar, but I can still grav jump? So should I just leave it at one bar and use the power elsewhere? Also, how do I get more power? I've upgraded my ship a couple times and always "get more" power, but I still can't use every bar for all systems, like engine, shields, grav, weapons, etc. I can only put a few bars on each one of them, I'd like to max them all out or at least get them way higher.
While you are in battle keep your gray drive at zero, only power it up when you need to jump. All it does is make it faster to grav jump. 1 bar it counts down for about 8 seconds but if you put a lot of points in it can go down to about 1 second, which is helpful if you need to escape a battle or being scanned while you have contraband.
Officer, listen... this was legitimate salvage. The ship was adrift in space. Yes I know I told you we were on a bounty hunt and that's what we did. They were wanted dead or alive and we didn't have a spare cell so we tossed them in the meat locker. But AFTER they were dead, their ship was adrift in space. That's legitimate salvage.
A question if you may... How do you actually steal a ship? When I was on a surface of a planet I saw a ship in the distance and entered, however if I'm not mistaken it became my "main" ship so to speak. But what happens to my initial ship? Does it follow me or do I have to assign a pilot to my initial ship? How does the mechanics work?
I wish you could make the ships up to 50 meters in length. The one cockpit I want is literally 1 meter longer than I am able to build and it drives me crazy.
How do you build a ship that influences the interior layout of connecting doors and ladders? right now it all seems random and can cause you to trek through the entire ship just to get somewhere a single door would have gotten you to
The ship building looks so awesome, unfortunately almost all streams ive watched has ppl spending 95% of their time planetside instead of in actual outer space
If I had more time I would definitely be more inclined to fall in love with all of the aspects of this game but honestly I find myself getting confused and not knowing wth to do especially since there isn't any good tuturial of these things in the game you gotta figure everything out yourself...
Grav drive : so it is just convenience right ? If a player is patient enough to do two jumps instead of one, they can use a small and cheap grav drive.
Can I get space combat missions on the mission board or something ? I fly around for days looking for a fight haha but. I settle for just loading different planets and shooting any ship I see.. now I got a 100k bounty with UC
Most of it comes from upgrading the skill to use better designs, beyond that each major settlement vendor has a tiny selection of unique stuff that isnt all that great
I don't really get the habitation modules atm, I don't know if there is a list or something I missed that explains what each one does or has inside it but that's the missing piece of the puzzle for me in ship building
So I just accidentally stubbled across a easy way to stop a attack from other space ships. So if u go to settings and change difficulty mid fight. I just happened to be zoomed in shooting a enemy ships engines and I lowered my difficulty and when I unpaused the attacking ships vanished.....if this turns out to be a real tip or hint would be cool if u mentioned me thank u
why the game doesn’t let me install parts that need level 4 starship design if i have barret in my crew or even if he goes with me to the parts shop? is that normal or maybe bugged on my end?
I have yet to buy a ship. Stole a few, but otherwise I turned the starting ship into a Class C monster. Need to get some weapons for disabling because when I target engines I tend to blow up the ship before disabling the engines.
I usually only leave 4 on my engines and all weapons maxed during flight, don't really need engines much because we're usually fast traveling to places anyways, after combat I turn weapons off and engines max to collect from killed enemies
@@chrismyer6100 That's the only time I turn engines to full as well. Otherwise no point since you aren't actually moving in a meaningful way. Blow up stuff, then engines to full and boost to tractor the loot.
Can you buy ship modules without installing them in a ship? I might well want to collect options I can use when building without them actually being on a ship.
Great info, thank you! In my first fight I couldn't figure out how to fire the damn rockets. lol Ugg, new systems. 😄 So here's my question, I usually play with my mouse & keyboard (PC) but I'm half wondering if space dog fights might feel better with my controller. Any comparisons/thoughts?
So I have a question I'm not very far into the main mission is there a certain part in the game to where you see parts to add to the ship customization cuz I don't see anything to add to it
I just can't find how to upgrade cargo...I speak to the technicien i can only upgrade wepons and engines thats it, i don't even have the menu you have on the right...Is there something im doing wrong ? need a skill to do that ?
Cargo isnt a core system so it doesnt show up in the ship upgrade menu, you have to go into ship building (not ship upgrade) and either add or replace the cargo bays

Like every Bethesda game, there's not a single gameplay in the game that's better than a B. But they're always more than the sum of their parts when everything kind of comes together.
Thank you!@@andrewmcmillan229
In about 2 years im going to be expecting the "starfield after 10,000 hours" 40hr long video
I wonder if Mort turned his channel logo into a spacecraft
Isolation perk mentions not having a crew I wonder if the damage bonus applies to ships without a crew
It joins your fleet. When you go to a ship service technician you can swap between all the ships in your fleet.
10 hours into this game and I am having so much fun. And I know I have only scratched the surface and it feels so good.
Do crew/companions help you board enemy ships?
Yes your one chosen companion does, but not our crew, which are two different things
Does anyone know how to get turrets to shoot? I have them on my ship but they don't fire at anything.
Have to assign the weapon groups like I mentioned in the video
I wish you could make the ships up to 50 meters in length. The one cockpit I want is literally 1 meter longer than I am able to build and it drives me crazy.
Gronk!
How do you build a ship that influences the interior layout of connecting doors and ladders? right now it all seems random and can cause you to trek through the entire ship just to get somewhere a single door would have gotten you to
The cockpit and the hab placements influence it, but you can't directly control it
The ship building looks so awesome, unfortunately almost all streams ive watched has ppl spending 95% of their time planetside instead of in actual outer space
If I had more time I would definitely be more inclined to fall in love with all of the aspects of this game but honestly I find myself getting confused and not knowing wth to do especially since there isn't any good tuturial of these things in the game you gotta figure everything out yourself...
So what space suit are you wearing at :51 seconds in and where did you get the beret?
Vendor from the UC Vanguard quests
Do you have the name of the items?@@MortismalGaming
That armor and hat you are using, where can you get those?
Grav drive : so it is just convenience right ? If a player is patient enough to do two jumps instead of one, they can use a small and cheap grav drive.
They can also help you escape a losing fight faster, but otherwise yeah
Can I get space combat missions on the mission board or something ? I fly around for days looking for a fight haha but. I settle for just loading different planets and shooting any ship I see.. now I got a 100k bounty with UC
Would it be possible to tell us where you find what manufacturer? As they all look different visually and internally
Most of it comes from upgrading the skill to use better designs, beyond that each major settlement vendor has a tiny selection of unique stuff that isnt all that great
can you have more than one ship active at a time? like a little fleet of your own?
You can only one active at a time, but you can own tons of them
I don't really get the habitation modules atm, I don't know if there is a list or something I missed that explains what each one does or has inside it but that's the missing piece of the puzzle for me in ship building
The habs contain workbenches or stations. You can link together multiple habs.
How do i get more then 2 crew members on my ship? I think im missing something or ive not looked into the skills for or crew quarters properly
You have to have the room for them via the hab modules and the skill to have more than I think 3 as a baseline
Blow up stuff, then engines to full and boost to tractor the loot.
from what i have seen, starfield isnt my type of game, but the ship building looks awesome :D
Can you buy ship modules without installing them in a ship? I might well want to collect options I can use when building without them actually being on a ship.
No
Great info, thank you! In my first fight I couldn't figure out how to fire the damn rockets. lol Ugg, new systems. 😄 So here's my question, I usually play with my mouse & keyboard (PC) but I'm half wondering if space dog fights might feel better with my controller. Any comparisons/thoughts?
I dont have any of the screens or options he does for modifying cargo hold etc so i can smuggle very uninutitave
So I have a question I'm not very far into the main mission is there a certain part in the game to where you see parts to add to the ship customization cuz I don't see anything to add to it
It should be available when you get to New Atlantis
when trying to attack enemy ships I end up going in circles all the time trying to find the enemy ship and can't find it, very annoying.
Are you able to load other people's ship designs into your game?
You make me want to buy this game. I'm still into Bg3 though / sigh
Other than immediately die, what do you do if another ship gets behind you and locks their missiles on you?
Boost can help break target locks, and the piloting skill can help you turn faster
@@MortismalGaming thanks, this game is very frustrating. I will give your advice a try.
Can you create asymmetric ships?
Yes
Amazing! I've not seen any examples yet
@@D71219ONE
There was someone in one of the official Bethesda showcase videos who made a spaceship that looked like a standing Optimus Prime lol
@@jackakimbo5718that was still symmetrical though iirc
That's not asymmetric@@jackakimbo5718
omg do you even sleep? lol. Keep up the good content!
long day. free comment.
I wish there was more info on various parts specifically- such as a list of all their stats. I suppose the game is too new to have all that info yet.
any tips on winning fights??
Kill them before they kill you
