This is such a great video! I encourage you to visit Prekaz, in which you can learn much about the genoice that happened in Kosovo, it is a memorial site about the Jashari family!
Genocide? Jashari was a terrorist who created the Kosovo Liberation Army, he dragged his family into battle as the coward he was. Not to mention his involvement in the Albanian mafia which continues to operate throughout Kosovo to this day and in other parts of Europe.

Here's the whole history of Kosovo according to someone who lives in Kosovo. In 1998 Kosovo and Serbia entered a war against each other, it started in Saturday, February 28, 1998 and ended in Friday, June 11, 1999. we are descendants of the Dardanians and Serbia thinks it owns us which a lot of kosovars and albanians strongly disagree with. we are ethnic albanians, some people might think this is a....unique place, but its still our home and we welcome everyone.

I hate to break it to you but Kosovo is not disputed! It has been recognized as an Independent country since 2008. Maybe when you were traveling through Serbia someone there must have misinformed you.
@@Wolverine-ky9gk who the hell cares about the UN! When have they done anything good? What is important is that Kosovo has been recognized by the US, Britain, Germany, Japan and the great state of Israel and the rest of the European countries with the exception of three or four who really don’t play any role in world stage.
Your comment is as pointless as those by Serbs insisting Kosovo is nothing but a province of Serbia. We are outsiders who don't know every last detail, but we can easily grasp the basics of the situation and for many of us, it's not like we just heard about Kosovo yesterday. Someone can support Kosovo's independence without pretending there aren't countries that refuse to recognise it. The situation is what it is. I hope you end up renting a car -- you always find such random and cool stuff when you're exploring the countryside -- but it does sound like it may be a hassle. Either way, these Kosovo videos are insanely interesting.
Thanks for the visit and the great video! The title is however very misleading. Kosovo is not a disputed country. Please check more facts and consider correcting the title.
Hi Petrit, thanks for watching. Only about 50% of the countries in the world recognize Kosovo as independent, Serbia claims it's part of Serbia and it isn't recognized by the United Nations. So that's why it's considered to be disputed. Here's the list of nations recognized by the UN: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Member_states_of_the_United_Nations "The United Nations has not recognized Kosovo as an independent state. Per United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 and the ongoing dialogue on the political status of Kosovo, the Republic of Kosovo is not a member of the United Nations, despite having relations with half of member states."
I support the independence of Kosovo🇽🇰, but it's pointless to lie and pretend everyone agrees with me or with you, and that there is no dispute about its status.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Hey Gabriel, your data is not up to date. Kosovo is currently officially recognized by 115 of the 193 (60%) member states of the United Nations, 22 of the 27 (81%) member states of the European Union and 26 of the 30 (87%) NATO members. Aside from that it doesn't have to belong to the UN to be an independent state. Just because some don't recognize it doesn't mean it isn't independent. Kosovo is de facto independent. Kosovo is an independent state with its own legal system, school system, police force, military, etc. According to the International Court of Justice, Kosovo's independence is legal and valid. Therefore your title is misleading. You even seem to come from a country that has also recognized Kosovo. With all due respect I do not consider this to be respectful towards the Kosovan people to question their right to exist. Anyway, make it up to yourself.
I've noticed a number of very cool dogs in the last couple of videos. I'm giving Albanians and Kosovans props for that. Guess that's just me. And I couldn't imagine a trip to the Balkans without taking in a Balkan dance performance.
There are plenty of stray dogs here in Prishtina. I would says over 90% of them are friendly as people feed and take care of them. Only in my neighborhood there are like 6 or 7 dogs we take care of.

Bravo, that was the idea from the beginning👍but every country defends its borders, so does Serbia. The border between Albanians and Serbs was established in 1912 when Albania and its nation were established on Serbian soil by Habsburgs. Doesn't it suffice?
17:00 Actually Mother Teresa's parents are both 2 Albanians born in Kosovo ( in the cities of Prizren and Gjakova ). Our first president, who was catholic as well, started this project and the Saint Mother Teresa church was builted just some years ago, to respect our catholic minority. It's kind of cool, considering we're a 94% muslim country, we still gave respect to Mother Teresa and to the Catholic Albanians by building a huge cathedral in the middle of our capital city 🥰

@@PJL7095 Hello, sorry I just saw your comment. I'm from Kosovo and we all support our indipendence, at least 95% of our population, and why? First of all.. Kosovo is inhabited around 95% by Albanians and we were part of Jugoslavia, which means "Slavs of the south", so in short words non-slavic people were not welcome in this country to begin with as we albanians aren't slavs. Non of us wants serbia because they always forced our people to migrate outside, dif you know that 1-5 milion turks have albanian origins? That's because Jugoslavia forced Albanians to go in Turkey. However we started hating serbia after 1.990 as during that time they removed all our rights, involving the fact they prohibited Albanian language in school and they burned Albanian books. In 1.999 they killled around 14.000 Albanians involving 1.334 children/babies, serbs raped 20.000 women and burned hundreds of fabrics and 100.000 houses. In 2008 Kosovo become independent, and that's the only reality in 2022. ( An independent republic of Kosovo ) You asked another question, yeah we're poor, many people are migrating for better life in Germany, Switzerland and other european countries, every price keeps becoming highter and the people have difficulties so more family members need to work in order to afford the living. There is work.. but they don't pay enough in works. In 2021 Kosovo voted for the first a completely different partie and I trust a lot them, they have been fighting A LOT corruption.

Kosova’s statehood is NOT disputed. Kosova’s Independence is recognized by the most democratic countries in the world (over 120 countries). Excellent video. Travel question: I will be in Tirana for a few days in September for some business and will have the opportunity potentially for a one day visit to Prizren and/or Pristina (unfortunately, only will have a day). It's a lot of driving and yes multiple days would be better but was curious whether this is something you would do having just been to both places. Thanks.
Just a heads up I've been to Tirana it's a nice place and interesting to see but easy to see in 48 hours and then move location.... If the drive isn't too bad, personally I'd Google bus services and I always wish I'd gone to Kosovo we went to Montenegro instead another beautiful country but Kosovo is high on my list of places to go. Enjoy Tirana if you're booking hotels though I liked staying in the tourist part it was nice to go out in the day exploring the city but then at night the nightlife is lively, there's fellow travellers and for me as a solo woman i felt a little safer in the tourist area having a couple drinks and walking to my hotel. Enjoy.
It could be doable if you're up for a very long day. It's a pretty drive. There's a border crossing so you'll have to factor that in as well. The bus waited at the border for a little while but not too long, maybe 30 minutes or so. Or if you wanted to go somewhere a lot closer and easier you might consider Durres. I haven't been there yet but have heard it's pretty nice.
I had 3 years ago 20 people eating and drinking and paid 50 euros. It is way cheaper than in the states. Starbucks is 6$ per one latte, out there is about 50 cents. But wages are low so it makes sense.

We see evidence of the dispute in every dumb argument in the TH-cam comments of every video about Kosovo. The de facto situation is pretty clear. The de jure situation differs depending on who you're talking to. It is pointless to just pretend there is no dispute. You can fully support Kosovo's independence without lying about this.
@@cephalopod7300 There was a dispute. It was resolved with Kosovo's declaration of independence, its recognition by most of the world, and the last 20 years of Kosovo living as an independent state. That's why I say there is nothing left to discuss for Kosovo. It is independent.

Gabriel as someone from Seattle I am curious about the homeless violence and drug addicts in the cities of middle and eastern Europe. I noticed the guy crying in the middle of the street and I dont see it often in any vlogger videos. Seattle I see homeless men having sex with each other in broad daylight infront of a store and kids and they're not shy to spit in your face or throw a needle at you.
You would have to go to a really shitty area of European cities to see that I think. Yes there are often beggars or homeless people, but I've seen some street videos from US cities like you mention that look truly shocking, not at all the America people see in the movies. We would both have to visit each other's parts of the world to judge for ourselves maybe.
Beggars here in Kosovo are 99% gypsies, it's like a profession for them. Most of them are unemployed and survive by collecting scrap metal to sell it, music or begging on the streets. You also might find them in the streets during traffic trying to clean your windshield for some money. Gypsies are not hostile though, they are very loving and friendly, great people. Poverty is a great problem in this community. Such imoral acts happening in public in the streets of Seattle are unheard of in here. People here are calm and don't behave in disrespectful manners, because firstly it's shameful according to our culture and secondly, you might get hurt or killed if you walk throwing stuff or spitting strangers here. And if someone tries having sex in public, I only can imagine that many people, mainly parents would try to stop them or beat them in the worst case. Hopefully I answered your question.
That guy crying in the middle of the street is mentally ill. You won't see homeless people in Kosova. You will see some beggars that are of minority groups. At times you'll se some handicapped begging too but not homeless people on the streets. Some are scammers too.
In fact scanderbeg was very successful when he lived he destroyed ottomans. But he died and they returned to invade. He had 20.000 army destroyed 200.000 man army

In 1998 Kosovo and Serbia entered a war against each other, it started in Saturday, February 28, 1998 and ended in Friday, June 11, 1999. we are descendants of the Dardanians and Serbia thinks it owns us which a lot of kosovars and albanians strongly disagree with. we are ethnic albanians, some people might think this is a....unique place, but its still our home and we welcome everyone.

and consider correcting the title.
Hi Petrit, thanks for watching. Only about 50% of the countries in the world recognize Kosovo as independent, Serbia claims it's part of Serbia and it isn't recognized by the United Nations. So that's why it's considered to be disputed. Here's the list of nations recognized by the UN:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Member_states_of_the_United_Nations
"The United Nations has not recognized Kosovo as an independent state. Per United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 and the ongoing dialogue on the political status of Kosovo, the Republic of Kosovo is not a member of the United Nations, despite having relations with half of member states."
kosovo is disputed and isnt even recognized by the UN
I support the independence of Kosovo🇽🇰, but it's pointless to lie and pretend everyone agrees with me or with you, and that there is no dispute about its status.
Kosovo and Metohija is autonomous province in republic of Serbia

Hello, sorry I just saw your comment.
( An independent republic of Kosovo )
You asked another question, yeah we're poor, many people are migrating for better life in Germany, Switzerland and other european countries, every price keeps becoming highter and the people have difficulties so more family members need to work in order to afford the living.
There is work.. but they don't pay enough in works.
In 2021 Kosovo voted for the first a completely different partie and I trust a lot them, they have been fighting A LOT corruption.

Homeless men don’t do these things in eastern Europe, they just ask for money!
