- The final part 5 video of the mini crawler course build series! It took a lot of work and several days but im very happy with how it turned out and can't wait to start running all my trucks on it, Thank you everyone who has fallowed the series and offered ideas and support along the way!

Its a great idea for an obstacle so kudos to you on that. Unfortunealtly an unneccessary environmental disaster. No need to buy all those chemicals to do this. It can easily be done with trash. Cardboard, foam packing materials, dilluted white glue and dirt and diluted acrylic paint washes. Other than the glue and some of the paint it can be done completely with recycled materials.
Yeah I’ve built a couple courses with recycled materials since this video and they turn out just as good 👍🏻

Love this, thanks for sharing. I just got my first RC, it’s an 1/43 scale and I plan on using this method to create something similar. I was going to use plaster sheets at first, but foam is the way to go after watching this.
Glad it was helpful! Plaster cloth sheets work great too for making mini crawler courses, I’ve used them in the past but my personal preference is foam 😄👍🏻

Has been awesome watching the series. Not sure what everyone else thinks, but I really like the in depth videos that show all the steps, so don't worry about 5 videos long or even more? I really enjoyed this series, I am going to do a hill climb out of an old little tykes slide. It would be cool yo do this at the top.
50/50 white glue and water brush it on then throw sand an dirt on it

Great job, I think 1 foot wider either way or both would make it just a little more comfortable.
Definitely, I was limited on space for the room I had them set up in but a little bigger would be better for sure 😄👍🏻

I used to build mountains and terrain for my HO train sets using chicken wire and paper mache. I'm starting to work on an outdoor crawl place, mostly for my 1/10th scale trucks, but with some sections suitable for 1/24th scale. I'm collecting rocks for it and with flood season coming up I should be able to pick up a few bags of sand pretty easy.
That definitely was a lot of work , but I like it ,, for as small as it is there is a lot going on .... and you made me honestly laugh out loud when you held up your original drawing and said " nailed it " that was as funny as it gets ....

Awesome course I just had surgery Thursday and will be home recovering. I already built a 4X8 plywood/foamcardboard etc 1/24-1/18 scale course using whatever I could find. Laid it out with design. Then covered it in plaster cloth . Haven’t tried lifting it but I’m guessing 2-3 heavier than your Amazing foam course!!! So thank you for inspiring me to build/design a foam course while I’m recovering. Should be very light and I have a 4x4 piece of cardboard that I acquired today. So I’ll be starting mine tomorrow!!! Awesome course great job.

Watched all 5 videos. Very good man! The end result looks so realistic. Love the all spray foam method. Seems the easiest way to get a good looking course. I'm definitely going to build one now. Think I'm gonna do a 6ftx3ft. Thanks for sharing!

@@UpperLeftRC I'm almost finished. Made a 5ft×3ft. Went for a Hawaiian islands lava rock look. Turned out pretty nice. Took me 11 cans of foam and 5 cans of spay paint!😂

Stone paint looks great. Do you find it too grippy? Or bad for the tires?
Nah it turned out okay, a lot of it got soaked up by the foam so it seemed to work well on tires 😄👍🏻

Was that a white primer you used? I've been experimenting with different colors pallets, I found a rust brown or grey base works well.
Also shooting the paint from different angles and distances with different colors adds to the effect!

I didn’t use a primer, those where all just paint of different colors. The different angels and distances is a great tip, thank you 😄👍🏻

Out of curiosity about how many cans of great stuff and loctite did you use to make this scape? And about how big Lxw is it? I really like what you did and I was just trying to consider witch is cheaper to build with cloth or foam. I am trying to build a track like this vs the natural ones I like building because sometimes I want to move the track and using sand, dirt, and rock, is so heavy to move. I have to say you made this look to easy lol.
Thank you, it wasn’t that easy but time lapse helps hide the frustration lol I used 8 cans of great stuff expanding foam at $5.73 a can plus Tax at Home Depot, the course is super light and very maneuverable and that’s what I really like about the foam courses, I have also made plaster cloth courses but I find the foam ones are the easiest because you can essentially build a block of foam and carve away the obstacles you want and down the road I can carve even more and repaint it if I want to change it up 😄👍🏻
Also I’m not sure what Lxw is but the size of the board is 2foot by 4foot

In total it was about $60-$70 the way I did it, the 2foot by 4foot board was $7 the spray foam is $4.50 a can and I used 8 of them plus the spray paint. But if you use less spray foam or filler stuff like cardboard under the foam then you don’t need to spend as much 😄👍🏻
