      This is a very popular saw for eastern US trail maintainers as it’s light and powerful. When you have to pack a saw several miles to your work site, the light weight becomes a big plus.

    I have the 261CM and LOVE it. I've learned over the years that you can buy a cheap tool but it won't last. Now I buy good quality tools and the Stihl MS261CM Pro saw is the best. It will still be running after I'm long gone. I don't cut that many trees up but they tend to come down from time to time and I know this saw will be there for me. I also have the 20" bar but I also bought a 16" if I need it for some reason. I have a couple of old apple and pear trees that are dying so those will be cut down in the Spring. John from MI

    My Stihl pro saw has lasted 26 years. I work it hard, but I keep a sharp chain. I've never had any saw last like Stihl has. Its " Stihl" running. I finally bought a Stihl 261 a few days ago because I needed a backup saw. My friends buy Echo and Husqvarna saws, and they have dozens of junk saws under their work benches. I dont have that problem with Stihl.

    I bought the MS250 over three years ago and it has been great saw. I was looking at the MS271, but went with the MS 250 (knowing that I will upgrade one day). I live in Central FL and have used my MS250 a decent amount of times for downned trees. I probably have a 261 in my future.

    I use a 261 with an 18-inch bar on the regular. The power to weight ratio/balance is in the sweet spot, I use it for the vast majority of my work clearing trails for an ATV company. Sometimes cut for a few hours a day. Just keep the chain sharp and I don't see any need for more power on an 18 or 20-inch bar. My friend/boss has the C and honestly I just like my MS261. When things get a little crazy, he also has the 500i, and I'm definitely not buying one. But we almost never use it

    My father had the MS250 for almost 20 years, he used it for everything and made a lot of firewood for sale, and when I say a lot I mean A LOT, unfortunately she died few months ago and the service told us that the repair would cost too much so he didnt repair it, so Im planing to buy this ms261 as the replacment, parts of our ms250 are in a box in garage and I also plan to repair it, its a shame to just trow it away after everything...

    I know it's aggravating, but especially for these small cutting jobs chaps are important. People tend to think they can do these small jobs quickly and that is when accidents happen. A small, lighter saw is no less dangerous than the bigger saws.
    Just saying because I don't want you to get hurt.

      @TKCL  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I'd put my 462 up against a 500i any day of the week. I would not consider either a do all saw. For sure those have the power for any job...But has the weight I don't want for all day woods cutting. A 400c is probably the perfect compromise for a single do "all" saw. Otherwise a 462, 500 or 661 WITH smaller saw is the perfect compromise.

      @EYALAVRAHAMI I don't think weight is a big deal, 2 lbs isn't much difference, but the 261 definitely has more power and features than the 271

      @@NorthCountryOutlaw 2 lbs is a heck of a difference when working for hours. Plus you get a lighter saw WITH more power going with the 261. I've ran both, there's definitely an enjoyable difference.

    To make the 261 into a perfect saw you add a West Coast Power Port and step up to a 25 in Lightweight Bar with 3/8" pitch 0.050" gauge chain. No more bending over and better balance. You do have to change the drive sprocket to a 3/8 rather than .325

    I literally bought a brand new 261cm and it blew up before i run a full tank through it. They tried to say i run regular or wrong mix! Lol took two weeks before i had a choice of either getting another new saw or my cask back. I got my money back. Rebuilt my Husqvarna 350s carburetor
    Which i should have to begin with!!? Lol

      my 27 year old 362xp out cut that saw this last weekend. Wasn’t much of a contest about 5-8 seconds faster on 20 inch hickory. Don’t say chain because I sharpened both . Stihl are good saws but they have always been slower .
