Yes sir. Love my MS261 as well. Has been my go to saw for 5 years and hasn’t let me down.
Perfect saw!
This is a very popular saw for eastern US trail maintainers as it’s light and powerful. When you have to pack a saw several miles to your work site, the light weight becomes a big plus.
Super informative. The fact you've handled chainsaws since a kid makes me like as woman that's never utilized one I can do it too. Thanks for the help!
I've got my 261CM 3 years ago, and loving it! Greetings from Slovenija
Great to hear! It's a fantastic saw!
Stihl MS261 CM or Husquarna 550XP - there's no other choice in my option. Bought my 261 almost two years ago - still the best saw I ever used so far. Greetings from Germany
They are wonderful saws!
My MS 260 is a 2004 or 2005 it starts in just about 2-4 pulls every time. I love my saw. I normally run a 20 inch bar with a full chisel chain on it
Hi,Andrew! You explain and demonstrate equipment and tools so well!
Glad you think so!
I have the 261CM and LOVE it. I've learned over the years that you can buy a cheap tool but it won't last. Now I buy good quality tools and the Stihl MS261CM Pro saw is the best. It will still be running after I'm long gone. I don't cut that many trees up but they tend to come down from time to time and I know this saw will be there for me. I also have the 20" bar but I also bought a 16" if I need it for some reason. I have a couple of old apple and pear trees that are dying so those will be cut down in the Spring. John from MI
I agree with you.
It's awesome you got one. I have been in love with my 261... Don't forget to make sure you check you summer and winter tab under the top cover.
Also I see you are starting to like that hookaron 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽. It works awesome
Your right, I always leave mine on summer setting. And yes the hookaraoon is awesome! Thanks again buddy
@TKCL what dogs did you get?
My Stihl pro saw has lasted 26 years. I work it hard, but I keep a sharp chain. I've never had any saw last like Stihl has. Its " Stihl" running. I finally bought a Stihl 261 a few days ago because I needed a backup saw. My friends buy Echo and Husqvarna saws, and they have dozens of junk saws under their work benches. I dont have that problem with Stihl.
I bought the MS250 over three years ago and it has been great saw. I was looking at the MS271, but went with the MS 250 (knowing that I will upgrade one day). I live in Central FL and have used my MS250 a decent amount of times for downned trees. I probably have a 261 in my future.
261 will blow away the 250 and it's quite a bit better than the 271. Trust me, you will love it.
I’ve ran a 25 inch bar on my MS 260 with a full chisel skip tooth chain through huge soft wood trees like cutting through warm butter
I have a 25 year old, bought new 036 PRO that is still going strong and it's a great all around saw.
I bought an 026 pro in 99, and it's Stihl running, too! I thought something was finally wrong with it, so I bought a 261 the other day. I found out today it was just a 26 year old spark arrester screen that I needed to clean. Now I've got two good saws!
My favorite is the farm boss it gets anything I need done never feels it's 12 year's old cut so many trees I've lost count. Thanks for the video
Thos are very popular saws.
My first saw was the ms291, a year later I bought the ms261c. What a difference!
I know this comment is a unrelated to the content of the vid, and Im only saying it cause you've mentioned it a few times in the live streams. but you can absolutely see the progress you've made with the food/lifestyle changes you 2 have made in the past months. it was very clear just how much progress you've had when you were side profile cutting the logs that were on your tractor forks. glad for you, and I bet it feels so fantastic eh.
Totally agree!!!
Thank you, we've made these choices because it was absolutely necessary and we seen the signs.
That’s an awesome saw you got Andrew. It’s hard to beat a Sthil chainsaw. I thought about you watching a video of a guy running an MS881 with like a 12 ft bar cutting down an extremely large tree out in California.
Oh boy! I wouldn't want hold that one up 🤣
I use a 261 with an 18-inch bar on the regular. The power to weight ratio/balance is in the sweet spot, I use it for the vast majority of my work clearing trails for an ATV company. Sometimes cut for a few hours a day. Just keep the chain sharp and I don't see any need for more power on an 18 or 20-inch bar. My friend/boss has the C and honestly I just like my MS261. When things get a little crazy, he also has the 500i, and I'm definitely not buying one. But we almost never use it
I have a combi of 386 and 250..love them😊
I have the 271 it's 50.2 cc but it is heavier at 12lbs. I love that little tractor
That tractor sure is handy.
Stihl quality. Can’t beat it. I went with the 271 farm boss and wish now I would have sprung for the 261c. The farm boss is a little heavy. It’s a nice saw though. Great video.
My dad traded his 271 for a 261C. It's honestly a huge difference in weight and power.
My 261c-m has a compression release. Saves my old guy shoulders.
I use a Farm Boss with a 20" bar for bucking logs. It's does great but after a while can get on your back. That Pro261 being almost 2 lbs. lighter with half a horsepower more is just awesome!
Dad traded his 271 for a 261 and there is no comparison. I've ran both and the 261 is a completely different saw. The perfect power to weight ratio saw.
My father had the MS250 for almost 20 years, he used it for everything and made a lot of firewood for sale, and when I say a lot I mean A LOT, unfortunately she died few months ago and the service told us that the repair would cost too much so he didnt repair it, so Im planing to buy this ms261 as the replacment, parts of our ms250 are in a box in garage and I also plan to repair it, its a shame to just trow it away after everything...
Your going to be blown away at how much more powerful the 261 is vs the 250.
I know it's aggravating, but especially for these small cutting jobs chaps are important. People tend to think they can do these small jobs quickly and that is when accidents happen. A small, lighter saw is no less dangerous than the bigger saws.
Just saying because I don't want you to get hurt.
Every homeowner should buy professional saw. Pays a little more but it is worth of it!
I just got one its light 20 bar runs great. Now i have to sell my ms362 a.c. cause i also bought a ms 462 really dont need the 362 got a real good deal on it thats why i bought it. You will like that 261.
That saw looked like a beast. I was surprised to find out it was that light. It sure made quick work of that cherry.
It's an amazing saw
@@TKCL the other your chainsaw where is it
congrats on the new saw. Ive been contemplating the 500i as the "do all" saw for myself.
I'd put my 462 up against a 500i any day of the week. I would not consider either a do all saw. For sure those have the power for any job...But has the weight I don't want for all day woods cutting. A 400c is probably the perfect compromise for a single do "all" saw. Otherwise a 462, 500 or 661 WITH smaller saw is the perfect compromise.
I just recently got a 261c and love it. What are the larger dawgs you put on yours and where did you find them. They look great.
My dad had them laying around. I bought larger dawgs for my big saw from West Coast Saw.
Looks smooth and easy to handle. Great information.
It is!
Just got my first stihl last week and I picked up a ms362c-m with a 20” but will get a 16” bar because I have 2 other saws that’ll take the same chains and I have a good inventory of chains. With a 16” bar I don’t hit the ground when cutting stuff on the ground compared to a 20”
That's been a very popular saw for a long time.
I heard they were dropping the 362 from the line up, they on sale in my area, for about 10% off. They are going to refresh the 400…at a higher price.
Hi Andrew nice new chain saw and a great review. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
Cuts like butter👍
It sure does!
my next saw but you needed chaps on
Had mine since 2013 ❤
Fantastic saws!
You going to do the same mods two the 261 that you did to your 462
I already changed the dogs out. I'm going to leave the muffler alone.
Just spent 5 minutes dropping Stihl an email telling them how awesome you are, if enough folks do it maybe we can get you that sponsorship!
Appreciate you, I don't know that they sponsor people. I would be honored to have them come aboard, they make excellent products.
Good day to all.
Good evening
@@TKCL Yep
@@TKCL Like the new saw, of course it broke in now.
Thank you! Great review! 👍🔥
Glad you liked it!
Good advice sir
Beautiful property. Nice tool and equipment shade. Today I purchased the MS261 CM. It's really light. Where did the larger dogs?
Congratulations on an amazing saw! Check with "West Coast Saw" for dogs and performance parts for your saws. I've ordered from them a few times.
@TKCL thank you. I appreciate it.
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Thanks for watching!
Great vid bro, I really enjoy watching how you take care of your property. I basically do the same on my place here in Michigan, only thing missing is an excavator!
Appreciate you watching!
Yep light power and captive nuts that should be on all saws
Totally agree with the captive nuts. Nothing worse than loosing one in the woods.
hello Andrew great saw and video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
2nd Request. Firewood stand update.👍
Sold a few bundles, currently in another unusual heat streak.
The shape of this dude's head is badazz. 🍻
Huh? 🤣
Great toy, seems to be going through wood like through butter. Have fun:))
Toy? Awww come on!
Another great video. Very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good content. Quick question I have asked several folks with no answer. Why do I never see anyone who uses tote baskets stack them 2 high? Looks like it would save a ton of space. Thanks
I know one person who does. I don't because there's not a good contact area between the two. You're asking for a tippy and dangerous situation.
The new saw cuts firewood with no sweat👍. You can do more work without your back getting tired because of the weight.
That's exactly right
I don't care for cherry wood but that's just me😊
I have that saw, and it is very good. 20 " bar on mine too. Used it a bunch when the tornado brought down trees in my yard south of Tallahassee.
Awesome saws!
How long does it take for your chaps to warm up B4 you put them on oh and I noticed you didn't have them on in the chipping video to
About 2 to 4 months of warm up.....
Which is faster this one or the Battery operated one you recently shared? Is this one lighter than the battery powered one?
That's a good test, it will be close.
You've probably shown it once or twice but what's that little tractor you got there? Looks like the perfect size for running trees.
Here you go th-cam.com/video/lZSJY4ZzdJw/w-d-xo.html Solis H24 and I now have over 100 hours on it, no major issues at all.
Where did you pick up the paint marker? Great video
Here you go, I love it! amzn.to/3YY9tMR
Am I first?
Just looked up that saw on the web, it’s a nice saw, but is it $699 nice?
I think you are first and it's absolutely worth the price. Everything has jumped up in price over the past 3-4 years. With that said, for most this is a lifetime saw.
It's expensive at first, but it's $700 that is gonna last you for decades.
261 with a 04 light bar ..... nah to light of a bar for that saw should have a standard ematic super on it it's not about the weight it's about the rigidity and making the saw perform ....we up here in Canada at my business only use light bars on our top handle climbing saws aside from that we use more ridged bars
I've got a MS462 with a stiff bar and 3/8 chain when I need more serious work done.
What brand saw holder is on your counterweight?
Here you go amzn.to/4e5A7bc
Getting one on payday, what fuel and oil you run?
I run the reccomended Stihl premium synthetic oil at a 50:1 ratio. But I'm getting ready to go to 40:1 with the same oil. I know tree felling professionals that highly recommend running that oil a little thicker than reccomended. By the way of you buy Stihl oil when you get the saw, it extends your warranty by a couple of years.
I run 93 premium NON ETHANOL in all my saws.
@TKCL yup I know i work at Ace hardware, I actually registered a customers new blower for a warranty today. It was the same a few years back when I got my little ms170.
@@TKCL have any experience with the stihl motomix? Seems people either love it or hate it.
Start at the top and work back that will keep your cuts off the ground
a) Why dogs? b) Why longer dogs? A neighbor just got the MS 500i and it is heavy as crap
The bite into wood is why, especially heavy bark or knots.
Because they are cool
I cheaped out and went with the ms271 and oh boy do I feel sorry 🤦...
An upgrade is waiting to happen...
That's a great saw, but the 261 is definitely a step up.
I was gonna get the 271 farmboss 20" but everyone I talked to said the 261cm is way better
The 271 is just too heavy.
@EYALAVRAHAMI I don't think weight is a big deal, 2 lbs isn't much difference, but the 261 definitely has more power and features than the 271
@@NorthCountryOutlaw 2 lbs is a heck of a difference when working for hours. Plus you get a lighter saw WITH more power going with the 261. I've ran both, there's definitely an enjoyable difference.
I sold 1 of my 310s and my 440 and bought 2 261s they cut as good are better than 310 but its 20years got 1 whith the trionic it starts easier than the reguar 1 i seem to flood the reguar 1 at times after i stop useing it far a half hour i have 170 250 and the 0 series so i should know how to start the reguar 261
I am a huge M tronic fan for that reason, they simply work.
With Mtronic, keep everything clean, air filter and fuel filter. Dump your gas once in a while to keep the junk from floating around.
Excellent video Andrew! It would be a great business decision by Stihl to sponsor the TKCL channel!!
I'd welcome them with open arms. I truly believe in their products.
I concur you must warm up a engine
4.8 kg that stihl chainsaw ms 261 CM
no one could get my running .
Hate to hear that, everyone I know with this saw loves it.
You throwing a Bark Box on this one?
I don't think they make one for this saw. It cuts so good as is, I'll probably leave it alone.
To make the 261 into a perfect saw you add a West Coast Power Port and step up to a 25 in Lightweight Bar with 3/8" pitch 0.050" gauge chain. No more bending over and better balance. You do have to change the drive sprocket to a 3/8 rather than .325
those are some choice mods
⅜ chain is just a bit big for that little saw mate, will work a lot better with a 325er 😊
@@gunterbecker8528 where ya get a .325 bar longer than 20" ?
I literally bought a brand new 261cm and it blew up before i run a full tank through it. They tried to say i run regular or wrong mix! Lol took two weeks before i had a choice of either getting another new saw or my cask back. I got my money back. Rebuilt my Husqvarna 350s carburetor
Which i should have to begin with!!? Lol
All honesty Stihl is the best.. my 13 year old ms290 farm boss runs better than the day I got it.. just got my grandpa's old 041 it's atleast 50 years old it runs great.
They are well built
a 30 year old 254, 257 or 262xp will run circles around that saw
Bla Bla Bla
How about replacement parts?
my 27 year old 362xp out cut that saw this last weekend. Wasn’t much of a contest about 5-8 seconds faster on 20 inch hickory. Don’t say chain because I sharpened both . Stihl are good saws but they have always been slower .
@@TKCL truth hurts .....
Nothing better than a new saw and a new chain and something to use it on 🪵😃 ! Too bad it has to be here falling trees 😔 , but life goes on.
Love it! Other than the hurricane damage 😩
