- Join me as I go off the beaten path in search of Ta Oun Temple! There are lots of dirt roads and fun times exploring the lesser known area to the north west of Angkor Thom. I check out tourist numbers at Bayon Temple and also stop in at the moat of Angkor Wat to see the ancient bridge finally in use again. This is a longer video at a little over 25 minutes, so sit back and enjoy the beauty of the Angkor Archaeological Park.

This is a longer video, around 25 minutes, so sit back and enjoy the scenery as we ride around and visit Ta Oun Temple for the first time!
Or we can watch it after the premiere in 2x speed? 😅✌️
Dogs and Monkies in Cambodia have rabies
🎉
🥰
Thank you Claire, another soothing Sunday 😎
Thanks for watching and commenting 😇
The temples are my happy place 😊
It was fun tagging along with you. Even though it's just behind a screen. 😊
Thanks for watching and commenting 😇
Thanks for another advendure, another temple for me to see when I get to visit again, take care, and two hands steering your bike.
Our pleasure! Mummy....
What a Great Vid 👍
Thanks! I love it 😀
Living vicariously through your adventure… 10 min. Or 25 mins.. no problem… be careful, please drive with both hands…
Will do 😍
Apparently India built the old Cambodian temples, was watching a Doco on Old Siam and back around the 10th or 11th century (give or take 500) Cambodia was ruler over most or all of Thailand for a while, interesting history with clashes and early changes in regards to Religion.
A lot of mixed history between all the countries around Asia.
Been cycling in and around Angkor regularly last 6 months. Observed numbers picking up December and early January but sadly down to November 2023 levels from mid January. Stopped at my regular for post cycle ale yesterday and manger said bar takings since early January are down to October levels .
We just have to hope the economic conditions improve in the West to allow people to travel later in 2024🤞
Keep up the good work for Reil, who’s keeping it Real.
The war in Ukraine needs to be sorted out. Can't und the world just letting this happen 😕 😪 😞
I guess no tourists is a common thing outside of the main complexes! I cannot wait to explore them. You found that gentleman who has the hidden temples channel? Pretty good stuff. Thanks for showing us! Cheers!
Oh yes, Paulo, aka Mr B. We know him well!
I love the birds singing especially around temple like this so interesting..!❤
Me too! I love that it's quiet enough to hear the birds.
So beautiful! I love the solitude. ❤
Me too!! Miss you 😘
That was a calming walk and video to watch in the morning. Thanks for taking us with you.
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
in 1979 to 1982 I used to raise the cattle in the jungle and I found a lot of wild animals there like pigs deers tigers chickens now nothing.
There is still a lot of monkeys 🐒 🙈 🙊 😳
This is well cool viewing thank you Claire ❤❤❤
Not a problem 👌 😊
Nice video Thanks !
Glad you liked it! 👍
Lovely day for a quiet adventure ❤ thanks for sharing Claire 😃👍👍
Yes it was! 😇
Thanks for sharing another Angkorian temple… please be safe and drive with both hands especially when you are by yourself in remote area…
Thank you, I will. I only do it when I'm riding slowly.
Great ride- along Claire, just my speed! Thanks for bringing us along! 😎✌
Glad you enjoyed it! 😉
I sure did enjoy this secret temple with you! Thanks so very much for sharing this with us 🙏🙏🙏
Wonderful. Thank you for coming along with me!
Really nice scenery 😎
It's a beautiful place to have 10 mins from our house.
Gee that was very enjoyable - I think the quietness elevates the beauty - Thanks Claire & Jeremy 👌✔️👋🙏
Really pleased you enjoyed it. I know this kind of thing isn't for everyone, but I just love these places.
Enjoying the scenery and tour.
That's great, thank you.
Lush and beautiful.
It was very pleasant up there on the weekend.
Really enjoyed this one Claire great work 👍 ❤
Thank you Graham! :)
Loved this video Claire! Thank you for sharing it with all of us. You do a wonderful job.
You are so welcome! 😇
Your a brave soul Claire to venture out alone like that. Must have something of a safe feel about it with all the tourists out & about ? -- Very hard for me to wrap my head around the need for so many temples all so close to each other. Just an incredible amount of work for all those ? Really hard for me to imagine all that was needed to coordinate such an effort with those stones so far away & the elephants trained to perform those tasks on such a massive scale + the workers & stone masons needed is simply mind boggling to me. (?) - - - Enjoyed the trip and your trusty Honda Click ! Seems the perfect machine for around there with fuel efficiency and all ? ❤ 🙏 👏🍺
Actually I feel perfectly safe at remote temples, just the wildlife can be unpredictable.
Cool! I wanna visit this place!
Yeah, and the great thing is that there are hundreds more as well! So many to see, and it's fun trying to find them down little dirt tracks.
Thanks so much, Claire ... how wonderful to live somewhere like Siem Reap and be able to experience the awesome nature and beautiful ruins whenever you want! These videos are so very much appreciated - !
It really is! Such a special place to live 💕
So beautiful ❤. For me i scare of ghost in jungle . Nice place
Thank you! I definitely hear a lot of strange noises in the jungle, and it can be pretty scary if you let your mind go :)
Fantastic video! This hidden gem in Siem Reap is definitely a must-visit. Adding it to my bucket list! 👍
Really pleased you enjoyed it. There are so many of these gems dotted around the countryside!
Paul here 😃
Thanks for joining!
Love it!
Thank you!

Thanks for watching and commenting 😇
Thnx for sharing but I do miss the wednesday tune!!😊
Haha you only get that music on a Wednesday :)
I understand but it will Wednesday again soon 🥰
Thank you Claire. Absolutely beautiful ride to took us on
Glad you enjoyed it! 😇
interesting.
Thanks 🥰 I love
Clair loved the tour. But I was a little concerned you using one hand riding and one hand operating the camera. I would not do that. Please stay safe. I need to see you when I visit Cambodia.
Noted! 🤩
@1:12 kinda close there!
Yeah, I was calling out to him but he just didn't hear or didn't take notice.
Thanks for taking us along with you, looks amazing, might have to try to find that temple when we I arrive with my family in just over a weeks time. Very exciting.
Wonderful, and no pass required visit this one! Thanks for watching.
Hello Claire & Jeremy, most enjoyable visit to Ta Oun temple, and waiting for your next Temple discovery. Many thanks.
Our pleasure! 😀
Thanks for sharing this! We love the temples that are "off the beaton path". We are in Siem Reap now but leaving tomorrow so we will not have to try to find it on this trip. Every time here we enjoy going to the "Death Gate". Usually no one is there but on Sunday there were quite a few visitors and they now have a security guard. We can't wait to return. Also thank you for the recommendation of Try Me restaurant. The chicken pad thai is very good!
We ended up going to the gate of the dead at night.... it was pretty dead.....
Next time you are in this area, you must go to Banteay Thom.❤😮😊😊😊
Yes! That one is next on my list!
Thank you so much for sharing! What an absolutely amazing little temple! Those are the temples I want to explore ❤
Thank you for watching! It's so fortunate that there are these smaller places that tourists don't bother with.
" Secret temples 🛕, street begging monkeys 🐒, four legged fur barkers 🐕, winding roads to nowhere 🚧 , and a shortage of pesky tourists 🤪, just another wonderful day in paradise " , Peace
Thanks as always Brian 🥰
when I was there 30 odd years ago it wasn't safe to venture to far off the main road. bandits robbers and land mines. but there's still a huge area to explore if any one is thinking of going to Cambodia. I'd highly recommend it.
Wow it must have been very different back then. Did you take any photos? I love seeing the old pics of these places. Thanks for watching.
Many more Cambodia khmer ancient temples in Thailand or Siam Loas Vietnam where Cambodia khmer empire were there back then all the way to Burma border what is now Mymnama truly splendid and wondrously human creations heavenly on earth for God to protect humanity here as beautifully as heaven
It's amazing what was made 😍
This season a bit hot there.
It's very hot right now.
I find it sad that they went in braced it and tied it and left it be
They will be back eventually. So much work to keep it all running smoothly.
Yeah but I’m sure Jeremy’s mother was pretty cool 👍
Yes, she's great! 😃👍
Marvelous views!!!! 😊 The Discovery channel will be hiring you in no time! 😉 looking forward to hopefully when you can an updated series about expats moving to Cambodia, the process, business online from home country, more markets and cost for your daily life. Discovered your channel last night n here , in UK , very interested in living in Combodia and checking this out. Any help, pointing me in the right direction appreciated. Also if you know anybody nice living in Peru/ Uraguay/ Ecuador- appreciated
Welcome aboard! Message us on Instagram for relocation information, plus look at some of our how to Vlogs as well.
I have a hard time imagining what actually went on in these temples. They seem to be all hallways and no rooms. Bayon in particular never had even one space that could be called a room. It is all little hallways that seem to have been installed without any logic. Even if it's purpose was purely for religious pilgrimage , it's organizational logic escapes me. Angkor Wat seems to be a giant ornate collection of hallways and stairs. The answer to my queries about this was that all this 'was built for religion.' These structures really are an enigma wrapped in a mystery and I guess my question just refers to one mystery among many...
Yes, I wonder the same things. I also think about whether they had any soft furnishings in there. A couple of temples still have wooden ceilings intact, so we know that much, at least. It's interesting that some of the Temples built in the Hindu mountain style like Baphuon don't have any inside at all.
TH-cam not allowing me to subscribe to many channels 🤔
Keep trying 🥰
Hi For Real ; this is the first time I watch your v d o thank for show, but you not suppose to go there a lone like that because no one guide you when happen, you needs at less 3 to4 people to go there with you for safety, I am Cambodian but I current in U S, please do not brave like that next time some one can hurt you easily you get no helper .
Thanks for the tips! But it's extremely safe here in Cambodia 🇰🇭
I am curious to see if you ever come across snakes at any of the temples and what types of snakes you are likely to ever see!
I've seen a grand total of two. One was in town, long, skinny and green like a tree snake, and the other was out near a temple. It was bigger and reminded me of a carpet snake.

But no King Cobras so far?
Oh this gate temple spent too much money. This money is coming from people who support but we can build less money and save money for society.
Yes, it was under refurbishment for a really long time. It does look good now, but I miss the flawed version.
Who defaces the apsaras and why? Is it iconoclasm?
It's usually looting. Google Douglas Latchford. He was behind a lot of the looting that went on in the late 80's. The pieces he smuggled and sold have ended up in museums all over the world, even the Met and the National Gallery in Australia.
@@ForRiel Thanks for your reply. It’s hard to know what to make of Latchford; while his theft of artistic pieces collected from during the turbulent times of the Khmer Rouge undoubtedly saved some of these works from being destroyed, he was obviously working in his own best interests and enriched himself in the process. The countries, and the governments thereof, play their part, too, by being blithely uninterested in their own artistic legacy, often using ancient monuments as stone quarries, until suddenly they wake up to the fact that tourists will spends millions of dollars to see them. However, I don’t see Latchford as a chiseler of faces; surely he would have nicked the whole statue. Whatever the reason, it is a real shame that some apsaras have been defaced in this manner and, whoever is responsible, it is the destruction of great work, pure and simple. Thanks for your channel; it’s great.
