  • What is it like living in a fire lookout home? A Dallas couple rented several fire lookouts before purchasing 160 acres of meadow and forest land in rural Oregon, known as Summit Prairie. With the help of a local builder and engineer, their “treehouse without the tree” was completed in 2010.

      Money is important when doing anything in this life.
      But if you kept all the money that you waste in day to day life you would be amazed how much you could have.
      Most people like to spend money for the sake of spending money?????????????
      If something is important to you.
      You will find a way to achieve it.
      If you are positive in your life.
      Life will be positive.
      People are very quick to give up on something when it gets to hard.
      The people who push through are the ones who realize there hopes and dreams
      If Your Dreams Do Not Scare You Then You Are Not Dreaming Big Enough.

      If there would be fire, steel frame would deform faster making it less safe actually. On a flip side, the fire will climb up if wood frame is used....

    • @KerryO91
      @KerryO91 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's hard to say, a heavy I-Beam can endure a lot of heat before deformation and it would take a very long and continuous fire to do so which doesn't happen in Forest fires because they are continuously moving.

    so they have water....why can they not fit a large soil pipe to the inside of one of the main support legs, that runs down and away to a soak away or reid bed filter system downhill 20metres plus from the base. Gravity is a great assist, and you can get a dual flush to use 1.5 litres a flush or less for a number 1. E.g a simple elegant toilet, weights not a massive issue - once you've pumped x amount if you siphon from source it will draw the water up to the height required. Alternatively put in a grey water tank, as you use water anyway, get a second rinse out of it.

    • @MsMesem

      one big issues it the soil pipe would freeze. the other is that a soil pipe is made of segmented pipe. The structure does shift around on top of the stilts. This could cause the soil stack to break.

      +Eckhard Koehler They actually have one other small 1bd structure on the property (no bathroom either). They go back and fourth between the two as they rent the Fire Lookout out in the summer months. The other structure is a few hundred yards away in the trees.

    Not a tree house. It is a house on stilts. My house is off the ground and most certainly is not a tree house. Ask a 4 year old what a tree house is and stop making such claims.

  • @cageordie
    @cageordie 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice place but more of a summer camp than a house. No obvious source of heat and do you really want to trudge up and down those stairs in the snow to go to the bathroom. No secondary escape route either, a death trap in a fire. Sorry to be practical. But it is a gorgeous camp.

    I'm wondering if this Fire Lookout home is vulnerable to high winds. I realize much of the wind would just pass through the rafters or whatever you call it. How much of that land is theirs, I wonder.
