Fun fact: Baobabs has 66% more iron than spinach 6x the vitamin C of oranges 2x the calcium of milk 6x the antioxidants of blueberries 6x the potassium of bananas More magnesium than coconut water
I guess only the green leaves have all these nutrients. I was wondering if the yellow ones would taste different. No pressure Nigel but if you try one let me know.
Mr. Saunders or can I say Nigel? It is the first time writting a comment on yours. I followed and watched your content for some years actually. And you are a highlight in my not so easy life. Thank you for all the fun I had over the years with you. I just wanted to tell you!
It's a good thing you germinated a good amount of baobabs. Now you can keep some for salad and some for bonsai. :P I'm even more keen on germinating some seeds myself now that I saw you eating their leaves.
@@TheBonsaiZone 😋 If they are so tasty, growing more could be a good business opportunity especially if you would target vegetarian customers. Growing baobabs for fun and profit. 😊 Joke aside, I'm really eager to try it for myself (tasting leaves, not the growing for profit part).
Enjoyed your updates. WOW! I've never even considered eating a baobab leaf. You are much braver than I. We've had cooler temps - 70's at night in southeast Florida. My Silk Floss tree is dropping its leaves even in our climate.
I love ur hair style hahaha just like mine They say a pet and pet owner look alike and I guess it goes for bonsai owners now cuz u and I with our hair match some of our trees hahaha.. Love the channel keep it up
A suggestion, in your plant room I saw that you have a mirror, if you angle its reflection towards the darkest wall, and the beam of light from your lamp you direct it through your mirror it will help you with the illumination of the room. Greetings from mexico!
I'll bet you let your Baobabs grow out a lot more now...First there was "Clip and Grow" and now theres "Clip and Munch"! Thanks for another great video Nigel...
One thing worse than hitting a nail with the circular saw is hitting a *loose* nail. A carbide-tipped blade will cut through a nail as long as you aren't going too fast, though there will be a lot of noise and perhaps some sparks. You should of course check for fire in the sawdust and look over the blade for damage after such an encounter. But if the nail is loose in the wood, the blade will snag it and either send it flying or break several carbide tips on the blade. I destroyed a table saw blade this way on an unnoticed loose nail.
Hi Nigel. I think if you put a piece of the foil backed foam board behind your new shelf, it would reflect the sunlight back into the plant room and be a nice backdrop for the Penjiing. I dunno, just my thought...
Wow, the same "Safe T Sorb" bags are $5 here in Michigan. I get mine from a farm and fleet store. I didn't realize I was getting such a good deal....lol..
its crazy sometimes how much the hibiscus blooms in the late autumn/winter months. I have 2 that were grown together and a victory rose that seem to love the indoor conditions here in New England. Not to mention the sub tropic temps we get spring/summer. good to have different projects in different stages to keep one from going stir crazy these next few months.
I'm pretty happy with a timer/power bar I found at Princess Auto. It has 8 outlets, though only four are on the timer side. Might be worth looking in to if you want to light all parts of your plant room simultaneously.
Thanks Florence, I'm worried I'd blow the fuse, we have a very old electrical system. I'm tempted to upgrade it all, but it would be very expensive I think!!
I'd say Nigel is right, it would probably blow his fuse having several lights running simultaneously. You've also got to worry about what gauge the wire is or it could melt
Hi Nigel, absolutely love your videos (I learn a lot from them!). May I ask you which kind of arrificial lights would you suggest for indoor? Thank you very much and can't wait for your new videos :)
Your LED lights shouldn't overload a single circuit, you could probably plug them all into a power strip to light your whole plant room every day. Are you going to add the reflective wall coverings back up, that will help a lot!
Hi Nigel, you mentioned that you have some tulip tree seeds in the tray; anything to see yet? Can I ask you if you did anything special to prepare before putting them in trays? I‘ve tried a couple of times, but to no avail. We have a huge tree growing in one of our neighbors yard and I was able to collect a lot of seed pods.
I separated the cones into individual seeds and planted them, hopefully in spring a tree will germinate? This is my first attempt. Here is the tree that I got the seeds from... th-cam.com/video/KI9MUxohMNs/w-d-xo.html
Murphy's law dictates that if a piece is not the correct size and it must fit between two other fixed objects, it is always too long, and never too short.
Beobab leaf are ok to pick and eat but plz remember if you ever pick a beobab flower a great big lion will find you and eat you this is an old "beleaf" so it must be true

Hi Nigel, One idea is mounting some LED's (solar if possibel) under the bench surface for your Penjing. It's awsome. Thanks for your uploads

Hey Nigel really like your bonsai styling can u make a lemon cypress one in the future?
Would that baobab leaves have a bit of a taste like avocado or rucola? Those are a bit planty and nutty in flavor as well
Yes, Avocado, that's what I was thinking of!!!
@@TheBonsaiZone that would make a nice salad together, these leaves, avocado perhaps even some pine nuts or cashews. Very nutty salad!

Inches eh? I thought you used millimeters in Canadia🤔
Why not have all 3 lights on all the time?
Installing extra outlets would be a solution
To mush power for one outlet?
I'll blow the fuse, we have a very old house! I think I'll just move the UFO light around the room!
Nigel, I hope you straighten those nails for future use?
where is room with canada arm?
