Hello, welcome to Canal Arte Retrô! Have you ever stopped to think who the true heroes of the Middle Ages were? These were not the knights in their shining armor, but rather the master blacksmiths, whose work played a fundamental role in the construction of medieval empires and cities.
Today, we'll take a look at the fascinating world of blacksmiths in the Middle Ages and discover why they were the unsung heroes of that era.
Imagine clothes covered in soot, blisters on your hands, smoke in your lungs and intense heat. This was the reality of the true heroes of the Middle Ages, who wore neither shining armor nor royal crowns. They created armor, tools, swords, guns and other paraphernalia while wearing their leather aprons. These were the medieval blacksmiths.
The blacksmith trade was perhaps the most underrated job in medieval times, despite being the most important. Steel, other metals and their by-products were the source of all economic activities in a settlement, whether it was a village, town or city.
Blacksmiths were not only forging the lords' swords and armor, but they were also responsible for producing almost everything from horseshoes, household screws, and hinges to agricultural tools. Blacksmiths were involved in all aspects of city life.
But working for the lords and kings had its advantages, unlike creating hinges for the common people. Upper-class consumers would pay good money for expensive weapons and armor, not to mention the personal favors blacksmiths could receive from local rulers. It is no wonder that the blacksmiths soon became the target of the community's leadership and the envy of the local people. More money, more problems.

meu avo e seus elguns de seus irmãos eram ferreiros e meu bisavó era ferreiro também, acredito que era uma profissão passada de pai para filho....

Minha avó tinha um primo ferreiro, na década de 70 conheci ele, ele sabia fazer muita coisa com ferro e outros metais, mais era um trabalho bem pesado e duro.
